Maybe this is a Europoor view, but is lobster some kind of basic staple food in America? It's odd to me to see people talking about getting lobster on food stamps. I associate it more with up market restaurants. Unless maybe you live in or very near a fishing community where it's more traditional.

Pretty sure lobster IS covered by EBT though, as long as it's purchased in a grocery and not in a restaurant or deli.

Lobster and steak are covered.

Lobster tails are like $10 for 4 of them, and people screech because LOBSTER when that's a good 1 or 2 soup meals, just add potatoes and green onions and condensed milk.

Steak is fine too. Most of the people screeching don't know that hamburger is fucking trash nowadays unless you get it from a butcher. We're talking 15-30% fat hamburger in those fucking tubes, up from the 5/10/15% rolls. Hell, they'd be eating healthier feeding their kids steak, potatoes, and broccoli, but people would freak out anyway. If you have growing teenagers you need a LOT of food in the house. Double or triple it if they're athletes. You end up buying a LOT of food, and steak tips are for beef stroganoff and the like.

Nah people do buy lobster and shrimp and expensive fish on EBT, which in theory is not an issue but like i can buy a weeks worth of chicken or hamburger for the same amount as one lobster.
