Celery smells kinda like piss and also tastes kinda how piss smells. Only way I can describe it is "mildly acrid". Like cilantro, celery's one of those vegetables where different people taste it differently depending on their genetics. Celery simply doesn't get attention because "vaguely and mildy pisslike" is a less offensive flavor than "dawn power wash".

Like I mentioned previously, celery is part of the Creole/Cajun Holy Trinity (along with onions and bell pepper), and those swampmen know how to make some delicious food, but when isolated and raw, celery's fucking gross.
 
Saw this posted the other day, I'm sure they're well meaning folks, but this is like offering free crack to a crackhead in Seattle.

On the topic of the government giving people money, anyone remember those $5,000 DOGE refund checks that were definitely real and definitely going to happen? What happened to those? And those tariffs checks? What about those, the $650B paid by the EU, $550B paid by Japan, and $350B paid by Korea that most definitely isn't actually $200B paid by Americans in extra taxes, what about those? I remember hearing about those some time ago but I haven't heard anything in a bit. Both the President and multiple Senators said I'd be getting all of this free money returned to me, money that's owed to me.

You don't suppose they lied to us, right?

The GOP for 15 years have said they have a fix for repealing the ACA. It doesn’t exist, no one has seen it and it’s a piece of fiction. 15 years they’ve said “we’ve got the fix”.

I’d welcome their ideas but I sincerely believe in this they don’t have one. They need to extend the subsidies. They’ve got to play ball and stop rewriting law by denial of funding for it as a means of repeal.

It's a privilege to be obese. If you are obese, you have enough food and a surplus of it. Not all people on SNAP are fat, but the ones that are can clearly go a month or two or more without the benefits. This chick must be approaching 400lbs. She has no neck. She could probably go 8 months just on her fat alone easy. As for the ones that I have seen complaining and are skinny, a lot of them are scamming the system, so no real care for them either. For those that actually are disabled and not fake Reddit diagnosed disabilities, fine. For people going through temporary periods of struggle, fine, happens to most of us one time or another. But the fact is that a lot of these people view SNAP as something they are entitled to get for life even if their financial situation changes or intentionally game how much they work to continue getting them.

Lets ask Grok what the earnings requirements are for New York.

So for a single person, its about 1700 Before Taxes and everything.

Lets math this out, a "Full Time Employee" can kind of vary but generally the minimum I know of is 35 Hours a week.

Times 4 weeks that is 140 Hours so before Taxes to be a full time wagie and receive New York Gibs you have to make... 12 an hour.

So lets pick the most demeaning job I can think of...McDonalds. what is the general starting wage to put fries in the bag.

So we are at least understanding that the ACA has failed or is broken. That the subsidies are required for it to even have a semblance of affordability and the democrats were too afraid to make them permanent because it would admit the true cost.

If it is repealed why does anything have to replace it. It was a failure that doesn't obligate the republicans to have an alternative. The alternative they already suggested of do nothing turns out to have been a better option. They are already 1 to 0 in the health care score card.

If the democrats had the balls to make the subsidies last forever then the GOP would be forced to change the laws. Allowing the democrats own legislation to play out including its expiration is in fact changing nothing. Passing a new subsidy would be the republicans passing a health care plan.

If my reading from the politics general thread is correct, It's not ACA subsidies that are ending. It's extra covid subsidies that were supposed to be temporary. Dems want make them permanent.

Don’t forget, this is money that other countries pay for the pleasure of doing business with America. Definitely not just some bullshit illegally levied tax on the American people to give the president a slush fund to award cronies. Definitely not, that would be absurd to even consider.

Who would even consider such a complete and ridiculous lie? Of course, Japan alone has paid us, the American people, $500B in 6 months and will continue doing so gladly just for the opportunity to do business with us.

Genuinely, they don’t. Trump has had a decade to come up with a healthcare policy that isn’t just “cuts” and he just can’t do it. I’m not saying the ACA is sacrosanct or even good, but come on, come up with something a little better than this.
