Nevermind, the winged scythe is all my hopes and dreams.
  • Big damage and lots of holy damage on top of that
  • Great range and relatively fast ambidextrous sweeps
  • Rudely frontstabs tower shield guys
  • Slow but fantastic riposte counter
  • Jump attacks hit even if you miss
  • Brutal backstab execution animation
Plus it's exactly as amazing on horseback as you'd expect.

Is there a single enemy in this game that has anything less than a seven hit combo?
that sphinx golem with that big sword doesn't have a go crazy go stupid 10 string attack, instead he walks at you and swings with an attack that has maybe three frames of animation.

If you're having trouble with Margit, try what it seems like From wants you to do: play like a complete bitch. He also apparently has his own music box, but I never found it before I killed him (at level 12, mind).

See, in Bloodborne, you could hit someone, quickstep, hit someone, quickstep, etc. and weave in and out of their attacks. Some enemies, sure, had combos you had to avoid, but whatever. I killed Orphan of Kos with the wagon wheel. Here? Nah, these are designed around the idea of you having a shield and playing like a bitch, with get-out-of-jail-free cards thrown in. Margit has that stupid dagger, and other bosses have zero-tell near-instant moves that you just have to expect them to do if you try a punish.

Margit has a few moves that he will never follow up with something else. Those are your big punishes. For every other move, poke him once when you evade the main attack, and just predict that he'll dagger or continue the combo. Because he will. That seems to be their trick - a lot of move combos will end at 2 or 3 hits if they miss and you don't press anything, but if you attack or roll they continue. Same trick as attacks that are functionally just stances.

I've fought a number of others, like a crystal Xena lady and the Ancestral Beast. Plus overworld bosses like the trees, ferryman guy and red swamp commander dude but I don't know if we should count horseback fights if we're looking for dumb bullshit to complain about. But there's plenty; frontloading the game with frenzy dudes isn't something I agree with but they're not all like that.

Also the second shardbearer is pretty distinct too, she does remind me of a couple of other Bloodborne bosses (and... she IS a giant Bloodborne reference who you fight in yharnam so that makes sense) but not the spastic adderall ones.

I missed Renna at the church. So I never got the spirt summon bell. She never appeared. I thought it was bugged. I bought the wolves from the merchant at the hub. I thought because I had it, Renna wasn't appearing. So I discarded it.

Renna still didn't show up. But I found out I can get tge spirt summon from that merchant at the hub, where I bought the wolves. I go back and buy it. I wanted to buy the wolves again. But it said I already bought it and was out of stock.

How do I get it back? I'm on Xbox Series X if it matters.

I'm not totally sure but I don't think I bought my wolves, I might have found em in one of the earliest cave. Possibly Groveside cave or Stormfoot catacombs, directly north of the church of Elleh just past the pond and northwest of the church on the same cliff, respectively.

But I'm not sure, might be wiki time.

Is anyone else in this thread also getting fucked up graphical glitches on PC like this? I've seen some reports of people having similar symptoms so I don't think it's my GPU dying or anything. And it doesn't happen all the time. It gets really bad sometimes, to where I can't see shit on the screen. The whole screen will be almost completely covered in these horizontal black bars in some cases. This weird effect overlays on top of things like the grace bonfires' bloom glowing effect.

Summon the wolves. They're pretty good at being distractions. Jell fish is good too.

You can get the wolves with Renna, the spirit at the church that appears. But she never appeared for me. I'll look there though.

I hope they fix the stuttering issues. In a game like this where timing your hits is everything, that can be a huge issue.

Only when I reached level 26 was I able to defeat Margit, and I had to use the summon too. I'm not particularly good at souls games (except Bloodborne for some reason) so I kinda expected needing some help for harder bosses, but when saw that he was basically a damage sponge, it really annoyed me.
I quite literally had put all my points to STR because I wanted to try that type of build, but it really feels like the damage doesn't increase much for each point.
Anyway, after that, the castle was pretty fun. The first shardbearer was much better, I actually thought he was easier than Margit (I had only increased my level by 1 by the time I reached him, btw). I don't really know how I feel about the game for now, I guess I'm happy it runs somewhat well on my computer though.

I met her when I used the fast travel function to go to the grace in Elles Church. Otherwise, she didn't appear. Maybe it will work if you try this way?

I'm surprised this is not a Cyberpunk tier disaster.

Nevertheless, I'll pass on this one.
Just give it a week or three and I'm sure the devs will come out with a patch. They've already released something to fix the issues caused by loading new areas. The game works and is great, the only problem I was having with it was the incessant stuttering, which according to Digital Foundry, is just present no matter what you do:

It's based on the weapon's scaling so an extra level might add a good tick to a weapon with B in STR but hardly anything to one with a D. Also scaling is a weighted average or something so a STR-only weapon will work better than one with DEX as well if you're only raising strength.
Upgrading a weapon can increase its scaling as well, particularly in its nominal primary stat(s). Visit mines for lots of smithing rocks.

Also some weapons are just shit. The base damage is usually a good indicator of whether its even worth upgrading.

The Ashes of War can also adjust the scaling. Like one of the first ones you find can adjust the scaling to a "Quality" build for the weapon.

On another note just found a whip and the claw weapons. I wonder how they do in this version of the game.

Also has anyone found a Blunt dex weapon yet?

Indeed. I've been able to change my weapon to a Greatsword recently, and its stats are much better, the only thing I need to do now is upgrade it.

I honestly haven't seen a particularly good Ash yet. Maybe I'll use one anyway since I don't like my weapon's special attack.
Also, you can probably make one if you want to now, lol. But maybe something like Caestus could work as a blunt DEX weapon, no?

Haven't found that yet but the whip is Strike damage which a lot of hammers have so maybe try that out.
