For Samurai, should I go for Dex/Int with STR for the weapons requirements?
Or should I just go Dex and Vigor then respec?

In the previous Dark Souls games you could get the starting equipment for the classes you didn't pick strewn around the first couple areas but that doesn't seem to be the case here. Can I find and buy the Samurai armor and confessor's set somewhere if I started as a hero or are they exclusive and not found in the game world if you don't pick that class?
I'm pretty sure all the starting armor sets can be bought (most from hermit merchants), I know the confessor set is from a hermit merchant in Mt Gelmir.
Is Lengrave indicative of the content density in later areas, or is it a very front loaded experience?

Because a couple short detours aside I've spent three days in Lengrave and the Stormveil Castle. I can't get over how fucking *full* the game is.
You find a bunch of cool stuff and content later on. I would say this game is definitely not frontloaded at all, but I may be blinded by the fact that I love souls games.

Anyone know what the fuck is going on story wise? I got the gist of it, but I still have a bunch of questions like

- What the fuck happened to Miquella and what is Mohg trying to do with him?
- What is the deal with Malenia's Scarlet Rot?
- I have no clue about the whole Godfrey/Hoarah Lux thing, also don't know why he's got a Stand
- Are Radagon and Marika the same person? How the hell did that work, I thought Radagon dumped Rennala's ass to be with Marika.
- What the hell is the Golden Order?
- Whats the deal with the Three Fingers and the Frenzied Flame? Is it Ay Lmaos?

No clue on Mohg so far. Miquella might be a hermaphrodite, both him and Miquella are born with some imperfection. Miquella is also a forever child.
The Scarlet Rot is literally a Malenia's blood and a bioweapon. She basically poisoned Radahn because she was gonna lose it's the the story trailer. She fucks up the entire world because he was too strong otherwise.
Radagon from what I've gathered basically is getting possessed by Marika to keep shit going, it also might be a reference to alchemy (Rebis) . Marika might be a parasite that's been going on for ages
The Golden Order and the Ring as metaphysical shit that keeps thing running. The Grace, Erdtrees, and Greater Will might be parasites feeding on everyone.
The Three Fingers and the Frenzied Flame are Rodagon from what I get. Ranni is the ayylmao ending, her whole thing with her mom is weird.
At this point I think Radagon basically was his own guy, but got bamboozled by Marika who is trying to bamboozle the metaphysical powers that be.

Lame, you can max out estus charges. I have too much seed

Confessor set at a vendor up some ladders on the way to Full-Grown Fellstar on Mt. Gelmir.
Weeb Armour is sold by a vendor in the North-West tip of Caelid.

Most places are like that; some areas that you pass through to get to others are less so but still have a lot, and you get access to them at the same time. So it's not like there's X things per named area, but I'd say it's about evenly dense throughout.
Also you might think you're done somewhere only to find massive subzones later then wind up somewhere earlier and discover a bunch of new shit you can now access. Rest assured this game stays fucking ridiculous.

I wonder if they're planning to tie this into Bloodborne. A lot of npcs wear the bandage blindfolds from that game and I've seen both fields of lumenflowers and what really looks like Yarnam in the distance.

It's probably just From re using assets but that would be cool.

They'll never admit any of this vague shit but I'm about a hundred percent sure it ties Bloodborne into Souls at this point. There's too much crossover, from enemy designs to lore points and even landmarks that are consistently associated with each other in the same ways they were in that game for it to not be intentional.

There might even be IP reasons they can't be forthcoming about it. But I haven't seen anything yet that rules out this being the same world a couple Silmarillion ages later (with a few dozen millennia of Souls lore in between maybe)

Is there any good faith scaling sword that does decent physical damage, one that isn't a weeb sword by any chance?
Well there is the Winged Scythe, it has faith scaling and its Weapon Arte is useful in PvP since it stops healing. The problem with the Scythe is it can't take any Ashes or be buffed with Armament spells/items and it doesn't do too hot against armored targets. The upgrade stones can be a pain to get since it uses Somber stones. This seems to be a main problem with weapons with innate faith scaling is they take the Somber stones for upgrades and you can't buff them in anyway.

Right now I am trying out the Flail. It requires a little more investment into Dex but it does Strike damage and Bleed. And Dex helps with casting time so its not a total waste of points. Bleed seems to be the thing for this game so outside the Weeb sword and the Wing Scythe there are few choices without a huge investment point wise and able to get early.
How's an arcane/dex build?
Not sure yet but so far a large number of bosses seem to be susceptible to Bleed. Basically if it looks alive it will bleed if its a construct probably not.

To the southeast of the weeping peninsula there a rampart with a Pumkinhead in it and up top a Knight that will use Blood Sword Arts. If you kill that guy you get an Ashe of War for Bleeding, which adds Arcane scaling. And if you can get your Faith to 12 there is a Bloodflame buff that will also add more bleeding to the weapon. The Katana is good and the flail is also good for Dex/Arc. Both bleed and are Dex based, the Katana is Slash damage and the Flail is Strike damage which is good for armored Foes. If you can hold out and can beat the Nightrider mob he drops a better flail that requires higher Dex to use but still bleeds and does Strike damage and still lets you use weapon buffs/ashes of war.

Edit: The Bleed Ashe only works on swords. And the other two are the same except Blood Tax is Thrusting swords and Seppuku works on swords and thrusting halberds.

How is the performance on PC now given the new patch? I bought it for PS5 but I have a pretty beefy rig so I've like to see this shit maxed out.

Story and characters are usually my favorite parts of a From game but I think the open world aspect really ruins them in Elden Ring. In Dark Souls, the world was so lonely and secluded that you were excited to find new people to talk to and new bits of the lore to interact with but in ER, the world is packed with so much shit to do that I find myself caring way less about any of the characters.

In DS, It was always awesome finding new characters because I was excited to find out what was gonna happen to them but that kind of feeling just hasn’t happened yet in ER.

I know it’s a minor gripe but it’s the only real disappointment the game has left me with so far.

The first two days I wasn't having fun and getting very frustrated due to margit styling on me and wandering into high level areas. Afterwards I stumbled upon the weeping peninsula and found Irina, went straight to castle morne and despite finding the place to be a dark souls 2 tier enemy spam clusterfuck, I could at least kill the boss which to my chagring gave me a str weapon I couldn't wield.
Afterwards I kept exploring the peninsula and then carried on exploring limgrave, was surprised at how many dungeons I had missed. Did a bit of exploration in limgrave east and even found a lift to the hollow earth section, found the enemies to have too much hp to my liking but it was manageable, I managed to explore quite a bit there and even managed to kill the ancient spirit. Ovetall a very beautiful area.
Yesterday I decided to go kill margit and while it took me using the shackles and summons I finally did it thanks to one incantation I found in weeping peninsula. Today I kept exploring the castle and I had a blast, the area feels just like a dark souls 1 or 3 area, full of secret and alternate paths, I was blasted away with all the stuff I found before every goong to the boss.

I have slightly over 61 hours worth of playtime in this game already, and I'm still only in the second area(Liurnia or however it's spelled). Elden Ring is fucking fantastic; even if the technical issues (slowdown and stuttering every so often along with the occasional CTD) are pissing me off a bit.

Margit is a bit of a beefgate boss early on, which is why following the proverbial yellow brick road is not such a good idea; Fextralife has a nice little game progress route in their guides section that can help you not blunder into areas that are too difficult for your character level early on.

I recommend anyone to get the Gold Scarab. It’ll give you 20% more runes and now I’m level 58.

If you're having trouble with a boss to the point of anger try this neat little trick (Miyazakis HATE him!). Equip Rapier of any sort, assign Barricade Shield as you ash of war, cast Barricade, hold down block and spam R1. There you go, you win. Even easier if you have a +10 Mimic Tear summon which makes some of the more bullshit bosses way easier.

Magma Wyrm Makar was insanely easy. I think it took me 3-5 tries. Something like that. Just to learn the pattern and be aware of the insta kill bullshit. I didn't like that boss because it was just lazy. Someone at FROM was like "Let's just combine the spider and that giant lizard thing from just before you go to Blight Town in DS1 and boom. We have a boss!" Then there's that tree demon thing that moved like a snake and there's a poison bog and wheel of death before you face that boss. I'll be damned if I can remember all of the names because there's like 50 bosses. The tree demon thing seems like a tough fight but all you really have to do is charge in and stay close to the body and whale on it. Then be aware of when it jumps to the walls and ready to dive at you. That one took me about 5 tries.

The Black Knife Assassin can suck a fucking dick. What a stupid boss fight. The asshole can chain backstab you and the backstab does like 90% damage. The gimmick is stupid and I hate it. I didn't enjoy beating that boss. I used the cheese method where you get a weapon with a very wide swing, bait him to chase you by staring at the water, and swing wildly. A giant greatsword is best in that situation. But I hated that fight.

Getting to some dragon fights now.

And wtf do you do to get by the giant pot in Caelid?

Edit: I beat the Ancestor Spirit. Very easy fight and reprieve of Sif. The one thing I didn't like: you have to light pedestals in order to access the boss. Okay, if you explore you can find those things and it appears it does something so that part is fine. But, when you light all of the pedestals there is zero indication that the boss is active or where they're active. How about a cut scene or something telling you that you completed the task and the boss is over yonder? Dark. Souls. 1. Did. This. When you pull the lever after beating the spider and the gargoyles a cut scene plays that tells you what you did and what spot it affected.

After the second main boss you can respec for basically free with consumables the game gives out like candy. I have 11 of them from just walking around and there's more in vendors. So go Deprived for max versatility (can't respec below base stats) if you really gotta but you can do anything in a single run.
I respecced into a sorcerer with 60 INT and 10 Vitality like a retard with my last Larval Tear. Had to go on a wild goose chase to hunt one down to make the game playable again. I really hope they aren't finite.

Not finite, pretty sure they're a drop from slimes or something.

I appreciate how rad the armour looks in this game. I don't even do the fashion souls thing, but for pure stat reasons this was my look for at least 30 hours:

I even got attached to the hat and kinda sad about being able to upgrade after the capitol. But now I'm in Banished Knight plate with a bronze wolf head so the memory lives on
