Ok question time. I wasn't paying attention and got ganked by one of the glowing headless knight enemies in the eternal forgotten city and when I respawned I have a status called "death blighted" that reduces my maximum hp by a small percentage. Drinking a flask doesn't restore it, resting by a bonefire doesn't restore it, and none of my crafting items can cure it.

Fetra doesn't have a listing for this status so long shot but does anyone know how to get rid of this?
afaik death blight is just the instant death status, it doesn't persist after death like a curse.
The only status effect I know that drops health is Fia's embrace which gives a persistant -5% until you use the poise blessing item she gives you in return, it'll go away a minute or so after that.

I gave up on parrying in the tutorial (zombies are too slow) and never got around to trying it again but usually you can do a partial parry if you fuck up where you still take damage if your timing is a little off, maybe that was it?
Maybe, it doesn't happen with regular enemies unlike the few I have tried it on that hits heavier. I switched to a shield that gives me 100% dmg block but with a tighter parry window(according to the internet) and I can still stagger Tree Sentinel with a* parry but I eat damage none the less. A regular block eats all my stamina with no damage, what I consider a successful block still sets off the visual effect.

*To add some information, there was a couple of things I looked up: it takes a couple of successful parries to stagger/stun a boss-like creature so it is not something I expect will happen every time, I realize that.

Tree lord's Horsey Surprise Shoulder Check is the worst, 100% damage and my knife have zero range so I have to be close.

I know some bosses take multiple parries to stagger but I just watched a few videos of people getting the first and then multiple perfect parries in a row on Tree Sentinel so I'm guessing it's still down to timing.
Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s77U-VcyEC0
And here's a guy getting a partial parry and taking damage then a proper parry afterwards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JJKBJP5iWM

Smaller shields have longer parry windows and reduction shouldn't matter so I never bother with anything but bucklers or the parry dagger (though I've heard it sucks in ER but nobody has elaborated on why) if I'm gonna bother.
I'd just pick one or the other, if you want 100% reduction the Barrier Shield ash (from Night Cavalry near the vendor on the road to Castle Morne) makes normal shields ridiculously good.

Yeah I've been waiting to continue my game for a few days now and this is all I hear from the other room.

They don't realize it, but those will be their fondest memories. Just like the garbage bullshit from Demon's Souls.

Pleasure and pain will become indistinguishable, just like Hellraiser or working for a corporation in Japan.

Thanks! I'll try it out in the future, I'm using an old production monitor and not a gaming one so timing have felt a bit off. IMO simple things like dodge rolls comes out slower.

edit: that's why I go back to practice these things on tree sentinel, to figure it out.

Ya that's partly why I gave up on parrying; delayed attacks always fuck me up anyway but I'm also playing on a big-ass projector and have no idea how much latency I'm dealing with.
There was supposed to be a Gaming Mode firmware update a month after I bought it but then covid happened so I'm assuming it's kinda bad.

Good god, everything hits like a truck full of sledgehammers at the Haligtree. Feels like I need to grind levels just to stack VIG.

Beat Margot (not MargIT) the Faggot. Another boss I thoroughly hated and thank god almighty I had that Katana (Nagikaba or whatever) and leveled it the fuck up with a great shield. His 2nd phase is slightly easier because there's an almost guaranteed way to sneak by an attack and land some hits. His hammer attack is fucking retarded.

I'm in the Forgotten Lands now.

I really liked the Margot fight, why did you hate it?

I've said it before but I'm sick of bosses and enemy types that just keep endlessly attacking. And the hammer attack wouldn't be too bad if he didn't have that one variation where he slashes with his sword just as he winds it up which is almost impossible to read.

I agree I just didn't find Morggot to be that, those fuckers that teleport and spaz the fuck out are really annoying though.

The red wolves are another example of enemies that just spaz the fuck out, I don't find these fights very enjoyable.

The Fallingstar Beast boss fight in the Sellia Crystal Tunnel is some serious bullshit. Not because of the boss itself, but rather because of where the boss is placed; that room is way too small for a boss like that.
As someone pointed out it's pretty cool how if you get the middle spawn position he just traps you in the door and kills you immediately.
Also some great Bloodborne nostalgia when he jumps in the air and breaks your lock to fuck you in the ass, I'm very fond of him.
Once you're done go to Sellia Hideaway for another great boss.

Hate to be this guy, but his name is actually Morgott, not Margot
