I booted the game up to get rid of the two tree sentinels as part of my pony express murder spree, it didn't seem like it would be much of a problem but they actually killed me 4-5 times and aaaaall of those deaths were complete bullshit(of course they were).
The fight takes place on a set of long stairs and the constant difference in elevation between the player and the sentinels really messes things up, it's like fighting lawn movers in a bouncy castle. Sometimes the camera got fucked as well and pointed almost straight down when I was trying to look backwards. It was more frustrating than hard.
I fucking loathed that fight. I hung off to the side in this weird little small square area and was able to plink one with arrows a few times and then wail on him a bit before running away when the second one aggro'd in. The fight would be tolerable if it wasn't impossible to tell what the other was up to while dealing with one of them. Add in the absurd hit box on the phase change ground pound shockwave and you've got a recipe for pain.

Just awful.

Mimic Tear plus Blade of Death is how I handled the double Tree Sentinel. Got it on my second try, first one they both got the Tear in a corner and mashed it to a puddle before I could get aggro off it then I got muh mashing as well ouch

But then Mimic Tear with Bloodhound Fang + greatshield and me plinking away with BoD is how I cheese most bosses if I dont want to melee them myself shrug

On a flat surface like a field or even something more constrained like a bridge, as long as it is flat, I think the fight could be fun. Those fucking stairs though. With OG tree sentinel my main source of frustration was the terrain as well, when I finally smashed him it was outside of the church where it's relatively flat, then it was kind of fun.

I just separated the sentinels then lured one of them past the gates to even the odds.
It was pride and hubris that fueled my desire to kill them both at once and by god I was going to do it.

I've been cheating and taking a look at where to find a somber smithing stone 6, I have 7 and 8 already and would like to upgrade my weapon, and the wiki said it can be found "in a mine in caelid" or a scarab, I don't remember, but I got lost along the way and 5 minutes ago I killed Godskin Apostle in the divine tower on my first try. Honestly, I didn't think much of it, looking at my runes I thought I had a total of 10,000 after slaying him which felt a little bit cheap, but it was actually 100,000. I'm level 75 or something but I begin to understand why people say you get overpowered.

That was a fun boss though because you could see what was going on and move/dodge accordingly.

I hate the Haligtree
The haligtree makes me sad, its honestly one of the best looking fantasy levels (the first half) I have ever seen in a video game, but every single enemy is just copy pasted. Plus they have been purposely placed in the most dickish way possible, then elphael looks boring comapred to the first half and just looks like its been recycled from DS3.

I wanna Mohg / Lord of Blood spell that allows invaders to "buff" themselves enabling friendly fire between the host and their summons (furled fingers, blue police) when you get close to them. like maybe within 20 meters of an opponent.
it could be called "Corrupting Presence" or something. just something that makes invading gankers spamming spells that you cant dodge without blood hound step a little more bearable / fair.

I agree the first half looks slightly better but they both look amazing. The first half is like sekiro and the second is ds3's cathedral of the deep but sunny. i love how the tree's in the middle of the ocean too.

Fuck yeah. Guess who just beat Loretta and swore himself to Ranni?

First battle with Loretta:

Got too eager when I saw how close I was to killing her. Should have been a bit more patient. I got her on my second try, though.

How did you like the hands leading up to that point? After couple of gaaah!'s I didn't find them to be much trouble, but I also had my shortbow with fire arrows and the barrage skill that fucked up the hidden ones and my bleed weapons which were super effective. Getting swarmed or cornered was, as always, the problem.

When going into the fight with Loretta I was still vary of mounted enemies so I shot her with a lot of arrows while she fought whatever summon I used, after that she had low enough health and I had enough flasks to finish her.

I actually got to Loretta while I was still exploring the map, before I had even beaten Margit. I was too weak to fight the hands at the time, so I just ran past them. Then again, I didn't have much trouble with the other enemies, so maybe I could have taken them if I had tried a bit harder.

As for the fight, I summoned some knights and had them distract her while I did jumping heavy attacks on her and dodged her ranged attacks. They lasted until she was about 50% health, at which point it was just dodge rolling and attacking whenever I got the chance. It helps that I leveled up my Endurance a few times (turns out there's a mostly-dead dragon in Caelid that you can kill for 50k runes) not long beforehand, allowing me to wear heavier armor without going above medium load and roll as much as I needed without running out of stamina.

Ooooh, I didn't know you could get to Caria without going through Reya Lucaria, that's where I ended up after finishing/exiting Reya and in my mind it was a straight path but I assume I just didn't have the map and got lost again then ended up in the right place by mistake. Just the other day I activated Radahn's rune by bumbling through Caelid looking for a somber smithing stone. I had activated Godrick's rune and was planning to do so with Rennala's to get into Leyndell but had completely blanked on the purpose of divine towers when I was in the caelid one.

Anyone else think that the two fingers looks like an alien hand?

edit: I was going to say that it looks like you put a bit much into endurance but it actually looks a lot like what I eventually ended up at.

Welcome to the simp club.
I think Im gonna go with Ranni's ending just because the thought of getting the fuck out of the lands between for a thousand years is very appealing

And it's my head canon that the dark moon god in elden ring is also the moon presence in bloodborne so hopefully its ascendance over the greater will turns the lands between into even more of a monster filled hellscape like they deserve

And now for something completely different, the crystalians and grafted scions in the haligtree, why are they there? The crystalians are aliens that came to the lands between on a meteor and are implied to be connected somehow to the carians and raya lucaria, the scions were created by godrick who insulted malenia and got humiliated by her in consequence. There are lots of hints that the allegedly divided and warring children of godfrey and radagon (either with marika or rennala) arent as intractably opposed to each other as claimed, makes me wonder if something is pulling everyones strings, something other than the greater will and the two fingers, something other than the other outer gods we already know about

Well, some of the crystalians are just conjurations from snails, and given that there are 2 Raya sorcerers just before Loretta who is intrinsically linked with Raya, it's possible when she left Raya she took some others with her.

I was a dumbass and thought the big gate would open in Leyndell if I had two activated runes.
I was a dumbass and thought I could activate Rennalas rune.

Draconic Tree Sentinel: third try.
First try was very, very close, the problem was that I kept using flasks to keep the horse alive, I have never once used berries so they're not bound to anything.
Second try I saw that I could use a summon/ash so I gave it a try. Died immediately, it was too chaotic and I ran into sweeping attacks not targeting me.
Third try, no problem. It blows that when they're stance broken and you're on a horse you have to get off etc. and my 360 controller is old and lose so quick dismount is bound to Y+up which makes you slow down and then get off... So I never got a critical.

Any suggestions for an easily obtainable spear, perhaps one that synergises well with Faith later on down the line?

I poked my way through DS2, and would like to do the same here rather than being carried by magic. I intend to dabble for some extra Faith buffs though, after I've got my hands on enough stat points for a greatshield and VIG.

E; I remembered the Lance exists, and am now unstoppable. Or at least I shall be when I have enough endurance to get out of fat roll status.

It's weird but there are a few great spears that have D/C scaling in Faith, but they are Faith/Dex weapons near the end of the upgrade line . The Treespear is probably the easiest its found on the Liurnia side of the broken Bridge east of Stormveil in a chest so you can get it after getting Torrent. It breaks the weapons rule though, It can be buffed with spells and uses Smithing Stones to upgrade, but the Ash of War cannot be changed. Luckily it has a holy weapon buff for a AOW so not totally useless.

I literally spent the last eight hours working my way down the Haligtree and getting to the boss. A bunch of time was spent in the room at the center with the giant lake of red rot stuff... I didn't see a small passage with a ladder off to the side so got stuck. Anyway the boss. She's got two forms???

ARRRRRGH. The one was hard enough. I like this game, this Elden Ring. It's fun enough. But you can call me a liar if I ever pretend to know what the hell is going on in this game. The story is thin and pretty bad and confusing. I don't know what the fuck this game is and I'm not entirely sure why I am doing most of what I am doing. But I'm playing it because it is fun. Usually.
