Might just be me but I think it was a good decision to not release the game with the coliseums at the beginning. The core multiplayer mechanic of souls borne games has always been invading people. new comers to the soul-like genera would not give invading a proper chance and just assume that the colosseums are the height of the games multiplayer from the beginning. The game only recently got a separate damage scaling for PvP to PvE the close quarter PvP of the arenas would've been a nightmare without out the recent balancing stuff.
personally I prefer the invading to the colosseums overall but the both have their ups and downs. nuffin like ruining a hosts day in crumbling farum azula by jumping at them full speed and casting Placidusax's Ruin knocking them flying into a swirling tornadoiey aybss.

been playing the colosseums at level 200 on 6 combatants modes and i've gotta say its a fucking mess. everyone spams the same spells and weapon arts that cover the entire arena and summons the same 3 spirit summons. not really complaining because its funny and optional but it'd be nice if there were more match making options banning certain weapons / spells ect...
just wanna see more creativity in peoples builds in the arena or it'll remain a cluster fuck at high levels with more than 2 combatants.

Invasions are definitely the peak of Souls multiplayer. I remember invading all the time in Dark Souls 3 but rarely touched the duels. That’s still something I miss when it had a higher player count.

It might be shittubers in general, but is it me or the lore videos for Elden Rings are especially boring? It's basically a ton of trivia that doesn't make any deeper story, side characters you have maybe seen once and no real twists or alternative viewpoints.
VaatiVidya is especially bad since he starts putting gay "epic cinematics" in videos you usually just listen to and it breaks the entire flow.

Yes they are boring. The lack of detailed offishul lore means these tubers write their own headcanon for 50% of the video, which is bad in every way, then pair it with bad delivery. The other half is just them reading item descriptions and sperging about muh environmental storytelling

Vaati isn't a good lore youtuber imo, for Elden Ring I think tarnished archaeologist and smoughtown have much better and in depth content. Tarnished archaeologist by far has had the most interesting takes on the lore so far imo.

Vaati is okay at aggregating small details for his "x interesting things" videos, but outside of that I don't think he's put out an interesting video since Dark Souls 1.

Vaati doesn't do his own lore hunting he just takes what others discover and theorise and makes high production videos for da monzey. can't blame him though since i think he's a gateway tuber to get new comers to become interested in the lore. also i bought a copy of his. soul arts book like three YEARS ago and it only arrived 1 month ago for me. the cover art is about the nicest thing about it...

if anyone is interested and wants me to link them some obscure but quality lore/theory tubers just ask.

I'm not the only one who thinks it would be awesome to have a super secrete final boss after the frenzy flame ending?
you should be able to explore the entire world covered in ash with zero enemies. your head should remain as a ball of frenzied flame "you cant wear helmets"
the only enemy left would be Melina. the goal would be to lure her out to kill her since she's the only one left. she would be much more powerful than she is in the margot boss fight. you should only get one chance to kill her and if you fail then the game goes into NG+ without any option to say no.
we would fight her as "Melina, Glome eyed que, " she'd have a bunch of different spells and attacks due to the world burning down and destroying the sources of magic she was dependent on. for lore reasons you wouldn't be able to engage in multiplayer after the frenzied flame ending. sort of a end of evangelion theme ending. they could even have the ocean be red with all the blood from the animals that died and boiled alive inside of it. sorry for sperging.

His last video was incredibly bad. Speaking on the beta map, art book and displate shilling.

It's one of the ideas that is pretty awesome in theory but the amount of work that would need to be put into it in practice makes it impossible. It would also solidify the Frenzy Flame ending as being canon, though in general the game really begs the idea of being a prequel to Dark Souls.

Lore has practically always been trivia with some extra layers over it. I've never felt that DaS had a deep story because of that lore, and 2 and 3 in particular just had obtuse writing. From's best written Souls styled games were also relatively straight to the point. Granted that the stories are not what makes these games so popular in the first place.

He's just updating his style to match this year's meta. All he needs to do now is start receiving sponsorships from Chinese item farming sweatshops websites and he'll be on par with the average Elden Ring Youtuber.

I disagree. Every big boss in Dark Souls had the lore give his history and motivations. Elden Ring lore of big bosses is primarily their sibling drama with their motivation being, at best, obscure. Ditto Dark Souls dungeons preceding big bosses had a lot of connection to their history, while ER dungeons are usually just a gauntlet with a handwave why it's there.
Also the baseline plot in DS has very straightforward "light the flames" only to find out it might not be the best option. Meanwhile ER you are told to get the runes and become Elden Lord and that's pretty much what happens, the only twist is that the ray of light leading you on is sentient and manipulative, but holds virtually no power irregardless how you fuck ober the world (unless it's what animates the final boss, which I still don't get why it attacks you).

Considering during the cutscene before the Godfrey boss battle has the divine grace point him to you as what must be done, I took it to mean that it wanted you to lose to Godfrey and he be the proper Elden Lord. That would explain why the Elden Beast tries to kill you right before you assume the role of Elden Lord.

It would have made sense if it was like Bloodborne and EB was fought if you didn't pick the vanilla ending

I presume we're talking about the first game, to which I would say that you're right about the dungeons and lore contributing to the interest in DS1's bosses. Albeit, it isn't quite up to the scale of Demon's Souls level design and thematic approach when it comes to telling a story. When it comes to DS1's baseline plot, however, it's seemingly straightforward but it really isn't. The endings contribute to that, as two equally bad options (cemented as fact in the later games) just complicate your overall objectives. Learning that you really aren't that special and that it could have been literally anyone also complicates the matter (and that it was someone, just in an alternative universe, le flow of time). That's then followed by the important aspects of the story that are flat out poorly explained or just not mentioned at all (the crow).

This then brings us to the rest of the game's lore. Which at times is pretty interesting worldbuilding. But the worldbuilding is better for establishing atmosphere and immersion than it is at heightening the plotline of the game. Learning that Eingyi is the egg sac man and has a history as a pyromancer is interesting but plays no real part in the main plot.

All that said, you are completely right about ER. I started the Souls series again for old time's sake and it reminds me of how much it and Bloodborne both drew me in in a way that ER completely failed to do. I hate how easy it is to say why that is too.
