The DLC is the first game I've ever pre-purchased, I haven't even watched the teaser. This and GoW:Ragnarok are the only things I've really been looking forward to.

I just want to know why there's two of him and why does he have fish traits.

Godwyn's likeness permeates throughout the world through the Deathroot, it's why you can see roots start sprouting eyes with the same pupils and grow aquatic features like fins as well. i'm guessing the face in Stormveil Castle is an extension of his corruption extending into the overworld, perhaps replication?

Melania sucks because her health steal is way too big for what it is. The waterfowl dance is bullshit due to it breaking the stagger animation rules.

Her phase two is annoying due to the butterfly clones being delayed in their attacks and her hit box being hard to define.

It's a large piece of content with probably a lot of stuff not shown in the trailer. If it was up to me, I'd hold something like Godwyn close to my chest. There hasn't really been another dlc boss quite as anticipated besides Artorias and maybe Ludwig.

In Elden Ring world, water or the aquatic has some connection with undeath. This is supported by the fact that Tibia Mariners (niggers with the floating boats) are always found near Deathroot.
Godwyn's model in the Deeproot Depths has the head of what looks like an oyster and the lower body of a fish, like a mermaid.

Now, let's speculate.
If we just google "japanese mermaid" we get Ningyo.

One of the most famous folk stories involving ningyo, purports that a girl who ate it acquired everlasting youth and longevity, and became the nun Yao Bikuni

So, everlasting youth and longevity, undeath, mermaid, fish traits, Godwyn.

Now, I don't know if the oyster head is part of the Ningyo or something else entirely, but I didn't find anything about oysters in japanese mythos and their depictions are shown with human heads.

Miquella is kind of like cancer. He’s malformed and not working as intended. Him looking outside the Golden Order is the only thing going for him.

His great rune is internally marked as Great Rune of Immature Abundance or something. Every Demigods great ruin has something to do with the metaphysical make up of the world. Ranni’s is missing because she tossed it.

I only mentioned that there was a connection between eternal life of sorts and aquatic/fish traits. Also, let me clarify the differences between Miquella and Godwyn.
Godwyn is part of Those Who Live in Death. According to what I understood from the lore, Death is not part of Marika's order, so all the people from the Lands Between are basically recycled.
Miquella, being one of the children born from Marika + Radagon, which is basically some form of incestuous masturbatory mitosis, is cursed. While Malenia is cursed with rot, he was cursed with always being young.
While it may appear similar, being always young and being undead are not the same.
Miquella, with his connection to the Nascent Butterfly and his corpse being in a cocoon in Mohg's goon dungeon, is implied to always revert to a young state once he reaches a certain threshold.
Those Who Live in Death, are those who have died but weren't buried with the Erdtree, so they came back and live outside the Golden Orden. While they are also eternal, it's a different kind.

Godwyn is the apparent cancer source. As for Miquella, let's look at some lore tidbits.

From his needle description.

One of the unalloyed gold needles that Miquella crafted to ward away the meddling of outer gods.
Capable of subduing the flame of frenzy if inherited, allowing one to cheat fate and avoid becoming Lord of Frenzied Flame.
However, the needle is as yet unfinished and can only be used in the heart of the storm beyond time said to be found in Farum Azula.

From Rings of Light incantation

One of the incantations of the Golden Order fundamentalists. A gift of gratitude to the young Miquella from his father, Radagon.
Produces a golden ring of light and fires it across a wide area. Charging enhances range.
And yet, the young Miquella abandoned fundamentalism, for it could do nothing to treat Malenia's accursed rot. This was the beginning of unalloyed gold.

From these few pieces, we can speculate that Miquella is working to revive Godwyn somehow, who died in soul, but lives in body and to cure Malenia, who's afflicted with the touch of the God of Rot, who's an Outer God.
There are also eclipse (sun being swallowed) items in the game that offer extra info. One of them says as much "The eclipsed sun, drained of color, is the protective star of soulless demigods. It aids the mausoleum knights by keeping Destined Death at bay."

Though now that you mention it, Ranni isn't really working as intended either. We know deathblight and the undead are due to Godwyn being in the state he's in, but Ranni's also fucked up. I wonder what blight she brought to the world due to her killing her body with Destined Death.

Ranni brought upon the blight of simps, and I am chief among them.

I don't think it works that way. Not every demigod death brings upon a blight or something.
Ranni simply rebelled. She took umbrage with being used for another's purpose and took action to stop it. Even her ending, is basically to remove the interference of outer beings and let the people of The Lands Between decide their own fate, for better or worse.
And as for her rune, if you're in Moonlight Altar and look at the moon, there's some weird shapes on it, so there's speculation that her rune is there.

So from what it says in the game Deathblight was literally caused by Ranni cheating by death by timing it so that Godwyn would die at the same time. She used magic to basically do an out of body so her flesh died and is charred at the peak of the world.

The whole thing in Elden Ring is that Death was basically an ordained thing. The demigods were immortal due to Marika removing their deaths from the world.

Godwyn was never initially fucked up. He basically was the only normal kid out of the Golden Lineage (Morgott and Mogh). The Rennala triplets also lack anyone seriously fucked up, Radhan is huge. That’s it.
Godwyn might be spreading cancer due to receiving a shard and that influencing the metaphysics of the world.

Miquella and Malenia are in some way broken due to Marika and Rodagon being the same person/ merging into one entity that is in disagreements with itself. Miquella is normal, but basically is forever immature.

I think he was just trying to get rid of deathroot's source :rather than help Godwyn, there's a sword called Golden Epitaph that has this description:

A sword made to commemorate the death of Godwyn the Golden, first of the demigods to die.

Infused with the humble prayer of a young boy; "O brother, lord brother, please die a true death."

The weapon art has the same Haligtree symbol that the Bewitching Branch has so it was made or inspired by Miquella (if the latter it'd have been made by a devotee). If bringing back Godwyn would've stopped deathroot's spread he probably would have tried, but only for that reason. AFAIK there's no lore about the two being close either, so I think it was Miquella being pragmatic about the Deathroot Question.

Yeah $40 is a lot for DLC but as long as it delivers I won't complain. I probably won't be getting it right away anyway.

I pussied out from fighting Malenia in the base game but might suck it up and try the new boss that's said to be on the same level as her.

Melania is pretty difficult is you don't reacting to her movesets. She can get rekt pretty easy though.
I dropped her a few days ago at level 35 with +7 upgrades with only points in vigor and int on a prisoner.
You need +10 Dung Eater puppet. Black Flame Tornado and Commander's standard. + Sonebarbed Cracked Tear for your psyjic.
Dung Eater spams an AOE debuff that shreds her defenses. Plus he tends to spam Regal Omen Bairn. She'll dodge back from the casting part but then usually proceed to tank all of the little fireballs with her face when they eventually get to her.
Those little tracking fireballs will put her in stunlock plus do loads of damage to her posture.

Now the Stonebarbed Cracked Tear causes your attacks to do increased damage to her posture. Stunlocking her with bllackflame tornado as well.

Have the Commander's Standard in your offhand whiile 2 handing it to buff your damage and dung eaters. Then your blackflame tornado weapon in main hand.

1 Summon Dung
2 Buff with Standard when she's edgewalking and about to aggro
3 chug psyjic
4 Dung Rushes in and 9/10 times starts with his debuff
5 Spam Black flame tornado if he has agro or you know that you can get a clean hit in with it.
6 When she backs off to do waterfowl then give her the old frost pot to the face
Rinse and repeat.
When her stance is broken try and allow Dung Eater to repost her. He'll do big damage + probably pop her with bleed too. If not don't repost her. Just do a full Black Flame Tornado.
BFT will melt her lifebar by a percentage of her Max HP while she's in it. Aka that's a load of damage that she's stuck taking.

Phase 2.
1 Dodge her Scarlet Aeonia, if you can manage to bust her with a few pots while she's in recovery then do so. If Dung Eater is close to you rebuff with Commanders. If not wait until he's in range to do so.
2 try to catch and counter her with BFT while Dung Eater is still going Ham on her.

If you're aggressive enough this strat can and will pretty much keep her stunlocked/stance broken until she dies. Phase 2 can be a bit trickier because she's kinda squirrely with her movement and aggro.

I have zero problems using this strat at levels 60 and 80. At 80 I can regularly drop her in 1.5 to 2 minutes. At 94/25 her 2 cutscenes are usually longer than her fights.

Id you don't have Dung Eater then a Maxed out Mimic WILL work. You'll have to clear off it's spell slots and only have the weapon equipped that it'll be spamming BFT with. You'll have to hardswap and equip the standard after summoning it. You'll want nothing else on the mimic so it's not trying to do dumb stuff like throw fan daggers at her. Unless it can cast Greyroll's Roar. It's the same as Dung Eater's Shriek of Milos except it nerfs her attack by good bit too.
If your Mimic isn't being Autistic you can just melt her down fast. Also have meat dumplings equipped so your mimic can easily heal itself. It can't poison itself so it ups it's survivability.

As an INT fag I didn't get the appeal of comet azur.

It's one of those things that get shared on reddit and low skill scrublords say "look at how it shreds mohg it must be godly".

It was a meme strat that relied on min-maxing and taking advantage of a slew of buffs as well as the Zero FP crystal to get anything out of it. Retards on youtube and reddit loved it because it was the easiest way to do big numbers in as little time, with as little actual effort, as possible. Bonus points if you got as many summons as possible doing it all at once and pretending like you're some mlg big brain for reddit doots.
If you didn't get that opening shot off, lol gg enjoy the runback cause you almost 100% didn't have the skill to deal with bosses in a more normal way. Any other int fag, as has already been said, knew there were MUCH better options for damage that remained far more versatile.

I think you guys just aren't really good with Comet Azur. People use it because it works. Its basically an "I win" button in most boss fights if you actually knew what you were doing, and you will always get at least one shot off if you use a mimic tear/summon as a distraction or just know how to dodge and keep distance. And even if you can't time it right, the high intelligence stats necessary to use it ensure that by the time you actually can, you probably have fifteen different fallback options anyway.

It is highly specialized, and you pretty much only saved it for bosses, but that's a good tradeoff for not making it completely OP. Shard Spiral is probably better for most situations, but you have to go through Sellen's quest line to get it, while Comet Azur can just be found if you know where to look. I'd say its both overrated and overhated. Its a niche spell that is extremely good in that niche. For big slow bosses, or those with long windups to attacks, go ham with it. For everything else, there's Comet.

I am hoping he will be the 'hard as Malenia' super boss hidden in the game somewhere. Starts in his blighted fish form before you beat that back and fight some semblance of his original self.

As long as no bosses in the DLC have life recovery based on hit, I'll be a happy camper.

The worst part is the life steal working against blocked hits, killed any viability of shield based strats. Though now that it's known that throwing a sleep pot in her face during waterfoul dance I imagine she is a lot more manageable, Rykard's sword already made a mess of her for the most part and if you can dump her out of her bullshit move she basically has almost nothing to work with at that point.

I just think she's a boss that went too all in on a killer move and if you can nullify it, she's not that much of a threat and if you can't, she's a wall.

But other than that and the description about giving Godwyn a true death, there's no further connection between the two.

It is highly specialized, and you pretty much only saved it for bosses, but that's a good tradeoff for not making it completely OP. Shard Spiral is probably better for most situations, but you have to go through Sellen's quest line to get it, while Comet Azur can just be found if you know where to look. I'd say its both overrated and overhated. Its a niche spell that is extremely good in that niche. For big slow bosses, or those with long windups to attacks, go ham with it. For everything else, there's Comet.

I personally prefer Shattering Crystal and Crystal Torrent. Shatter is a shotgun at close range and will shred even when it isn't charged and Torrent is a cheaper Comet Azur.
