The serpent that ate Rykard wants to devour the world so it's not really what one might call 'good'.
But we can devour the gods TOGETHAAA!
On the other hand, if you beat her using some meta crap or followed an internet guide, that's homosexually cringe and I can understand not feeling fulfilled by that.
I don't think her fight needs a nerf because I found her very challenging, but not impossible, and she made me try and experiment a bunch of times. No other boss made me do that before.
*raises hand*, yeah, guilty of that one. At least with Malekith, though I was pulling the same shit, I managed to do the dodgy parry from the item so it felt more earned. But yeah, really need to get back to her with character two to give it a proper shake.
The reason why I say all of this is that the fight just isn't very fun for me. I looked up a guide to Malenia's attack pattern on youtube and when I got to the part that shows you how to either dodge or interrupt waterfowl dance, I didn't feel any joy from the discovery nor did I feel any particular desire to play through the fight using this newfound information. I just felt annoyed more than anything else. Mostly at Fromsoft for making such a difficult fight in the first place. At some point struggling on the same fight just stops being fun or worth it in my opinion, and Malenia reached that point for me.
I do agree that Melania is overtuned due to fucking healing on blocked hits. Yes, I understand that if you don't do something, a tower shield trivializes her, but that's what phase 2 is for and just have some very aggressive rot buildup on block on that phase as well as some aoe attacks to go over the shield to keep you on your toes.
Though on the other hand knowing the pot trick, it seems unnecessary. I guess I'm a faggot fence sitter on this one. Since I never experiment with items in these games I would never in my life found out an ice pot stops Melania cold (tehe), but once you know it, it seems like the fight would become very manageable.
Might as well do due diligence and include all the variants for posterity's sake.
I was having trouble finding good screenshots and was considering booting up the games to get good ones but some xitter chump did it for me. I might go through later and get better shots with consistent lighting.

I kinda think it's cool that the ER version has frost on the crossguard and handle.
Incomplete list dude, where are the Armored Core and Kings Field versions?
I do think that the Moonlight sword being ice themed in Elden Ring removes some of it's luster though. Definitely another vote for bloodborne being the best one.
Jesus motherfucking christ, Midir telegraphies every attack for 4 seconds and the motherfucker has a script stagger towards the end that eats like 5k from his health bar.
Seriously, what in the goddamn fucking god is going on here?
Every single attack from Midir is easily avoidable, you don't need a youtube tutorial to figure out anything, he doesn't recover health and only punishes you if you try to hit his cock.
I bet my ass you killed Malenia with a +10 mimic and all the bullshit bleed weapon you can and has the nerve to say Midir is unfair. Faggots. Seriously, I think most of you never played those games.
Agreed, Midir was a good boy and pretty much the only time they managed to do the giant fuck you boss with a specific weakness target (Fire Giant was another fuck up with this). Midir is only a slog if you aren't going all in on his face constantly while dodging the laser light show. Might just be that I also play Monster Hunter, but he never felt that long to me.
Will you guys continue an existing save or start from scratch, once the DLC drops?
I plan to start a new character, only to autistically verify if they added or changed stuff in the base game. Then I more or less plan to rush the Meteor Staff and Golden Scarab, but I'll be honest, the AIDS cave is not very fun without resistance or Flame, Cleanse Me.
After that, it's normal progress, but easier and faster due to those two items.
Will use my main save fully decked out and with enough respecs to try random shit as I go. I do have a second character that is a Int Dex build that is having a hard time due to constantly being underlevelled since I only go where I want to go. Will try to give that one another go and see if I can at least beat Mogh to be able to ender the DLC instantly as well (though I've tried him a few times in mid level 50 and he's kicking my shit in).
Midir is the one souls boss I could never beat because he just has entirely too much health. It's a battle of attrition and I don't really have the patience.
Might I suggest the boss rush mod for Dark Souls 3? Lets you set the bosses you wish to fight, in what order and the multiplier of souls dropped and with a chunky multiplier you can be a max faith max strength monster flinging lightning like Gwyn intended with the Nameless king's spear. Two shooting Vort from just calling lightning twice was hilarious and as you can imagine even the meaner bosses go faster with all of that extra damage you are piling in.
