I started playing a Greatsword build to prep for the DLC, and while it was fun at first there really isn't much qualitative improvement in it as I get further into the game, I just hit things and they die. What's a good Ash of War that really changes up melee combat flow? So far I've mainly been using the Ash that buffs your weapon with Holy damage.

Whichever includes a new move or moveset for the weapon. For example, I like the war cries for the axes since it changes their move set and buff their damage. Since you are using great swords I suppose that tiger claw, the stamps and gravitas would change it. Those are the ones I can think of from the top of my head, but I don't really use great swords.

Thanks. My first release playthrough was mostly magic so I'm unfamiliar with (str) melee.

>look into the lore
>like half the people assume Marika is evil
>in actuality it’s not clear and at most Marika wants to kill the Elden Beast that was hewn into the Erdtree

The oddest thing is that the endings are pretty fucking clear about what are the good and the bad endings.

The Good
Ranni’s ending

The Neutral
Fracture
Those-Who-Live-in-Death

Bad
Doodoo feces world

Really fucked
Order
Frenzied Flame

I’m guessing that the DLC is probably going to answer why the current Erdtree (the physical one, not the illusion that only the Player Character can see) is a stump. My guess is that Melina is Messmer’s sister if you go by the twin children that reoccur (Mogh and Morgot/ Melania and Miquella) then she got burned by Messmer.

I'm somewhat excited for the DLC and much more excited for the DLC to be modded. Convergence was a blast, even though it was a lot easier than the base game.

How is Fia's ending neutral? In that ending the entirety of the Lands Between becomes a zombie apocalypse.

It’s not a zombie apocalypse, it’s more that imperfect death is let into the world. Things are majorly fucked as they are in the other endings. The end result isn’t you die, but you can die in body or soul. The Death Rite Birds and Godwyn is something I expect the DLC to answer because Miquella’s goals include giving Godwyn true death.

Fia is basically a cult leader who collects people against the Golden Order without knowing her goal. It’s not as bad as people being born into agony or falling for a demon that tricked everyone, even the Jewish Merchants of the setting.

Order results in Marika being a slave to the Elden Beast and the Grace basically just does not allow a will of your own.

Frenzied Flame the world burns.

Frenzied Flame is the good ending.
Life was originally once whole (the great one), and what remains of it wishes for life to return to being one entity.
The original being (everything/everyone) wants to be whole again; it doesn't want to be fractured, it doesn't want division, it doesn't want births.
Who are we to argue with the being that we were once a tiny part of and is way smarter than us/has a way better prospective?
The current great one (Frenzied Flame) is just the largest remaining shard of its original self that hasn't been sissy-hypnoid into thinking that being billions of tiny useless pathetic animals is cool/preferable to being one extremely powerful entity.
In the frenzied flame ending, when our character has their head replaced, you can basically see them having an orgasm as the Erd tree burns and life starts becoming one again.

Frenzied flame is also inevitable.
It's been trying to reunite all life since before the dragon age.
It's going to happen sooner or later and the more you postpone it the more people there will be to feel the agony of being burned/melted back into the original being.
Also, life in the lands between (and I assume the rest of the world) is not pleasant for most beings. Most animals aren't humans, they're pray, or plants. most humans have a pretty difficult life; only a few are born with wealth/security. If you could measure the average emotion of an animal in the lands between it would definitely be fear. Fear from animals trying to avoid being preyed upon and such.

Nigga it’s a demon that possessed a serial liar and slanderer, manipulated the traders into summoning it by ruining them, and possesses a dead man and dead girl into goading you into killing everyone.

Vyke, in game gets purged of influence at some point, it’s why you find him in the Mountain Tops locked up. The player character is fully possessed at the end, there’s no head anymore. It kills you.

Do we actually know what the upper-case O "Order" necessarily is? It seems that the Order is in some sense a manipulation of physical law to allow for structured reincarnation of souls (through the Erdtree burial rites and the removal of Death), but it is also a sort of divine right of kings and a cassus belli, and also the imposition of the Greater Will''s intents. Are these part and parcel, or separable? And if these are separable, which elements does the Age of Order ending incorporate, and which does it do away with? Ranni's is a good "fuck this shit, we're leaving" ending, but depending on what the Age of Order involves, it could be utopia just as well as fascistic Elder God-driven nightmare.

Oh, and to be clear, I haven't gotten the Age of Order ending yet, so there is probably lore on it I haven't seen in game yet. Someone please dissuade me from doing another Ranni ending and being a spiritual Redditor.

I absolutely hate this game indeed, I have 600 hours on it because I'm an idiot.

The game is too big and it has way too many flaws. Pointing it out doesn't mean I dislike it.

When I think a game is garbage I stop playing it immediately and don't even look back. I have a lot of issues in Elden Ring especially because I know this fucking game inside out.
Did you try not being dogshit at the game during those 600 hours?

Thoughts on and summary of the Redbull stream, DLC spoilers:
Redbull's stream is hosted by a literal who named Giniro and they keep using the word 'epic'. Fucking hope that 'Leyendell' challenge involves new shit. If it wastes my time istg.

I recognize neither of the fucking nerds that walked out first. And now we have a fucking League of Legends player talking about using a wheel and some dude. Only guy I recognize so far is fucking Elajjaz, who said 'bring Bloodborne to PC'. Where is fucking Aggy or Bushy? ChaseTheBro? Finally they bring on Hob... And 'Divi' who does 'deathless and speedruns' I guess? "Seasoned veterans" they say... FUCKING OTZDARVA the fag that helps ruin dbd and dinosandgel with less than a thousand views per video. TotoTricepts got snubbed tbh. Oh Christ Otz is an announcer, I get it DS2 Scholar all bosses no hit was hard but by Allah he is not a face of Elden Ring. I'd rather have Distortion2 talking over this.

Oh FFS they're just doing official Elden Ring bingo shit that's been done ad nauseum. The stream of a retarded woman teaching another retarded woman Yu-Gi-Oh in another tab looks tempting because they are just explaining the fucking bingo squares. It's a 3x3 as well, I get that time is important but it's not as interesting. Addendum: The bingo squares are per person, not lockout. Makes sense but I prefer watching lockout even if it'd make it more uneven.

THEY ARE EXPLAINING THE CHAPEL OF ANTICIPATION AAAAAAAAAAAAA-

Michael Zaki you magnificent bastard, you've done it again. You've made a stream a madness swamp for real life psychic damage. Breaking new ground as always. I am not joking this shit is so normiefied despite Elden Ring races being so slow and almost methodical, like I get it's Redbull in charge but were they coached to talk as if they were talking to xQc?

One of the dudes opened their pc menu while right behind the First Step grace. Poor showing for Redbull honestly, especially now that Elajjaz' POV was lagging hard. It was not my PC, Missmikkaa is much smoother. Now they're babysplaining Night's Cav/potentially Greyoll cheese. Aaaaand this nerdy fuck is doing the OLD cheese instead of using kukris to make him suicide. Is this what it's like to watch WNBA games when you obsess over normal hoop-ball?

People are dragging the cursor fully zoomed in across the map and standing around for several seconds after teleporting during a race.
And only now is someone fighting Margit, and it's Elajjaz with a Bloodhound Fang +1 against mostly other samurai starts. Also the charge attack tear was wrongly called 'physical damage +20%' from our seasoned veterans.

Dude's doing Stormveil gate path and... Fuck me this is mind numbing, just goes right up the middle and not up the right like someone who isn't winging it would do. ACTUAL NEWS ABOUT THE DLC (technically): The Bandi Namco logo changes from the current white screen to black, it will no longer flashbang you for quitting out or starting the game.

Hob started later than everyone else? The fuck was he doing? Either way he's nohit killing Scion at Chapel.

And Elajjaz has won. Moving on, the seasoned vets are shocked that timing jumps to avoid balistas happened because the normal people watching at home feel the same.

Idle thought because nothing fucking matters on the stream right now, you guys think that Godwyn guy Vaati said was a rumor is real? Do you think they put in Soldier of Godwyn because of the Solder of Godrick jokes? Also Elajjaz is just killing random Limgrave bosses because the others are so far behind, including a German ER guy who started as deprived. I'm gonna assemble a cat tree until they do something, nothing is even happening. I Guess Godrick with a dancepad? IDK he's like the easiest not Beastman boss, at least they moved the fuck on.

I'm back, they had two players on the dance pad and something about subs if they won I guess, I don't fucking care. Also they are now doing Serpent Hunter/Healer shit in Leyendell with no new weapons or anything. Otz just explained that co-op phantoms are not hosts and thus them dying doesn't instant lose because the viewers never played this game, which is why they're watching for DLC gameplay. I guess it was team Sweden and two other teams? I thought it was Brawn vs Brains why is it three of the same team type? Also Parrying was not allowed in this? But also the Swede team guys are doing parries because they won?... Wonder how one of those VTubers would've done commentating compared to these guys? Would autistic women really be worse?

Greatspear is such a boring weapon to watch, love using them to death but it's such a visually simple weapon. The game is acting weird with Mohg walking into a wall after blood raining while the players are across the room. The miracle heal is so ass wtf is their spread? I'm done until they actually do DLC things.

NVM the above the host is a charisma vacuum goddamn. Hope her subs find other streamers to watch.

OKAY HERE WE GO, for real this time spoilers from here on out... Oh god the woman's doing the interview. And he's fucking Fr*nch, good start. Did not know there'd be new content so glad he said we'd get new bosses and willans. This 'spoiler free' shit is actually kind of pissing me off, if only because it's almost been THREE HOURS since this began just tell me some cool weapons you put in. And now Vaati's doing a Prepare to Sleep about the lead up spoilers and lore to the DLC. I am not happy right now.

FOR REAL NEW SHIT, a jail for pots and jars is where we might watch people play and a new unrelated to base game Potentate lore drop I guess. Wonder if the mega jar is gonna come up in lore. Different in game shots of locations and some new music. There's a fat thing waddling with his vertebrae visible from the outside or smth, looked cool. Wish we followed him to where he went.

The worms attack if attacked by bloating their heads and making them red, slamming them down. Pack aggression like jelly fish. Holy fuck Otz is doing fucking DSP observational commentary "It's weird that this ruin is just sitting there. I see we're taking some sort of rooftop". Blade of Mercy is a talisman in this game and it's probably the hornet ring or something because it interacts with crits. Twisted hanging trees mark hard locations apparently and we get bonfire man gameplay for a second. Also the difficulty items have to be consumed so you can pick up stuff freely if you don't want to make things easier, just don't use them at grace sites.

Knight with a massive greatshield and massive mace, like the mace might be bigger than Mourne's Greathammer from DS3. Messmer's torchpole is HOPEFULLY in the game because an enemy is wielding one. They also improved Blind Spot compared to the DS3 version by making you almost warp behind the enemy first. They put the Cruicible Knight stomp on a regular enemy. UGS with a fire piercing fang/fire buff for the big weapon guys out there, scales with faith but can be infused which is based. The troll thing I mentioned earlier puked blood or something else red on a guy as an attack.

The Divine Beast Dancing Lion boss is coming up, really hope we see a spirit ash we haven't seen as a tease because I'm really wondering what else there is. We finally got a half assed answer to the swamp question: "It's important to Miyazaki-san." He summoned Black Knight Commander Andreas, the big knight man from before, and also I noticed the boss has two sets of teeth the the fnaf robots. People who hate Ulcerated Tree Spirit are gonna fucking HATE this thing. There's a fucking EMPTY SPACE between the head and back so you can just miss if you hit the cloth. Jesus. Phase two... They know about how we spammed ADLS so now it's passive on the boss in phase two. That is fucking evil.

Fucking randos from before are gonna play through some caves. Oh and before I forget somehow I liked the frenchman more as a commentator than the other dudes. They're showing off the dry leaf arts weapon, LIGHT GREAT SWORDS CAN THRUST FROM BEHIND A SHIELD it's gonna be so gross yet so fun. Also the spike shield weapon thing is a dex scaling shield, guess it's the answer to the paired greatshields from games' past.

OH GOD EW they brought back the gross pus thing from the DS1 painted world. Milady LGS has a double heavy attack, also stance changing great katana. We finally get to see the smithscript weapons that are thrown and spawn back in hand, CRUCIBLE WINGS ARE AN ASH OF WAR WHAT THE FUCK??? I think those pus things are jar insides... I guess that's what's inside of Alexander and what gives us the shard's power. OH CHRIST THE PUS GUYS SHOOT A DRAGON ARM THING AS A GRAB. Also confirmation that the enemy perfumer bottles are an equippable weapon, thought that was optimism.

Boss for the enemy is the Curseblade Labarith. I think it's using chakrams so... Maybe we're getting the final Crystalian weapon? Not crystal but still, close enough. It burped darkness at the start of the fight and is a throwing knife shitter. Pretty sure it also teleports with a backstep. This is fucking Lost Sinner 2, except unironically a bit more annoying looking because of potential projectile spam, especially as a caster. Fucking stream is dying REEEEEE. Right at the good part those FUCKING CUCKS. Can't even stream right. Gives me conniptions...

NOT DEAD ANYMORE, goddamn the leaves do good damage to the pots. The greathammer throw did 1600, I really hope you can hit with the spin and projectile. If not that's a damn shame, at least melee build people cannot bitch about not wanting to use a bow because of this... Hopefully. Fucking dickhead Otz wants to see the axe throw instead of the Greatclaws, I get it but damn man you are too excited. That fucking boss goes invisible without a torch or near the in arena torches or something, they really wanted to prove Lost Sinner could be difficult, and they made it a DPS race. IT DROPS IT'S ASHES holy fucking based I change my mind, this boss is awesome.

... Ew, the fat League player is off the plantation and trying to tell jokes. Oh god go back to the fat man this irony poisoned host is horrid. Elajjaz just clutched the boss on his last hit. Dunno if four goddamn hours is worth this but I am glad I've seen it. THE GERMAN JUST BEAT THE BOSS TO DEATH WITH DRY LEAF, DIDN'T NEED TO SEE THE BOSS. Good god. They finally made the gravity spell that draws enemies in and explodes, that's cool. The Misbegotten bear roar is Roar of Rugalea and Divine Bird Feathers is a sustained Beastial Sling/Farron Hail that you can walk while casting? Interesting... Wonder what drops it. Heart things can one shot with a shotgun attack btw so don't get close to those things. Spirit ashes seem immune to the darkness gimmick, good to know. Hob was seeing if torch out stops the boss from summoning darkness at all, or if he's just learning to no hit it early. Or maybe the move's time gated.

Knight's Lightning Spear is just a swarm of swords that fire from behind, you can now do that Gates of Babylon thing from Fate in a vanilla Fromsoftware game. Miriam's Vanishing is a spell now, I think the character that was in Ranni's corpse's tower's fucking teleport is now a spell, what the actual fuck. No seriously this is gonna make so much salt, PvP is gonna get some interesting times in the future. Miranda Flower AoE is confirmed to be a spell called Aspect of the Crucuible: Bloom and presumably the Erdtree heal AoE is also confirmed because those were in the same rumor Vaati talked about. Wish we could see the porcupine spines to see the damage. PEST THREAD SPEAR is a purple spell thing and the fucking retard playing doesn't get it's an incantation NOWAY4U YOU FAT FUCK... I just realised there's a black Solaire shield. Huh. Also the bloom aspect shoots a Miranda flower out of your chest, neat and its pillars lasts for quite a bit.

Finally the bear claws, they look unwieldy but they bleed and look weighty. It has a massive lunge that will make these weapons hated in the arena and in invasion chases. Ash seems to be several wind swipes that... Probably deal decent poise damage? They didn't seem to stagger as hard as I thought it would. Oh god the pest spears are just massive pest threads that you charge, this might be the bad spell of the dlc if it doesn't do pest thread things. The thrust shield lets you riposte and potentially backstab. Probably wouldn't work because it's a shield but imagine powerstance with this.

I think this is the last thing I can comment on? Wrath from Afar is Emit Force but yellow, and I feel like it might be better because it's based on Wrath of Gold? And I was fucking right, Miriam's Vanishing is the teleport the tower sniper does. That, double moon spell, and Glintstone Nail is gonna make mage absolute cancer and I am all for it. Also Emit Force is still mediocre even in this game.
And it's finally over, good god almost five hours of an autistic Spaniard explaining and fucking up Elden Ring basics... And a lot of cool shit after two hours of nothing. Hopefully they trim that fat next time.

The DLC is going to be my birthday gift to myself. Only question is which character to run first, my best one is an Arcane/Bleed build but she's stuck in NG+, I made pyro-faith build just for Shadow but...well it kinda sucks.

It removes the fickleness from men and little g gods like Marika. Goldmask removes freewill, Order is the zombie ending because it means that no one can rebel against the Elden Beast which isn’t the Erdtree, it’s carved into the tree, but it’s not the tree itself.
