Epstein funded a lot of "scientific" endeavors such as this. It seems (relatively) innocuous, although Eliezer "to my knowledge I have never had sex with anyone under 18" Yudkowsky doesn't do himself any favors. It's probably nothing.

I thought it's an open secret that Chyyyna funds anti-AI sentiments in the West to make us lose in that race? Similarily to how they probably fund "green" initiatives so we limit ouselves to 1 "green" factory for every 10 they make with zero emission limits.

That's the beauty of ops now in the age. Why bother paying for someone to agree with you when you can just find the guy who already agrees with you (because with millions online, you can find SOMEONE) and then just pay money to boost their signal? You'll get far better returns on a smaller amount of money than trying to find someone who's opinion is for sale.
