For a group that calls themselves "rationalists" they have a extremely low amount of reason and rationality between all of them.

As people have already said: it's a cult of midwits who think they are far smarter than they actually are because they memorized some simply concepts and phrases.
 
I've just read through the community feature article; while I'm intrigued by the level of autism on display, observing these faggots would make me commit suicide.

A lot of the crap coming out of "AI Safety" (aka censorship) departments sounds like stuff the cult says, but their influence is limited because every actual AI researcher sees them as the cranks they are and ignores them.

All of the "AI safety" stuff I see seems to be from a different ideological perspective, that being "saying the n-word = unsafe." I figured that'd be coming from corporate cowardice and not from Rationalist paranoia, but I'll admit my impression of the (employed) AI safety crowd is built from mainstream reporting.

Is there underreported AI safety department handwringing that is Rationalist rather than antiracist? I'm ignorant.

It’s both, and they’re tolerated because their conspiracies about the companies being right on the cusp of AGI pump up the stocks.

There's two AI safety paradigms. One pushed by the corporate, which is more recent, ie nigger = BAD; One pushed by Eliezer, which is older and based entirely on sci-fi literature and zero actual experience with any form of artificial intelligence, ie skynet = BAD. The former is primarily "alignment", the latter is "AI Safety", and both are either lobotomized or lobotomizing. There are actual whitehat/blackhat exercises one can perform with AI across all disciplines, like prompt jailbreaking or salting images with adversarial data, but they have nothing to do with the term "AI Safety", and Eliezer Yudkowsky and MIRI don't know nor care about any of them. They're just Scientology with none of the business acumen or worldbuilding.

Nothing new under jersh's gigantic ass. Groups of autistics with normal cognitive ability who think they've found the konami code for life are all over the place. "The Rationalists" are the same as the all-rotting-meat diet guys, the essential oils ladies, and the trannies.

Even once established as a cult leader he piggybacks off of an existing property, Harry Potter, in one of the most tasteless perversions of a fictional universe I've personally witnessed (why not use the world of The Golden Compass for an atheist-transhumanist advocacy fanfic instead of bastardizing a Christian-derived cosmology?) Oh, and since it's a fanfic it will also never get a movie adaptation. Instead of power and infamy, all Schlomo can get is public embarrassment and a crumb of Aella's reeking pussy, and I doubt that the Rationalists have meaningfully "infiltrated" AI companies, for if they had I'd expect more acts sabotage by now.

I'm sure that's a great way to make them MATI - just join their forums and consistently bring up prior work by Hubbard. They'd lose their shit pretty quick I'm sure.
