Eliezer Schlomo Yudkowsky / LessWrong

That's actually wrong, though, because AI trained specifically for poker in simpler forms like heads-up limit actually fully grasp the percentage of time to bluff and can calculate how often they should call based on a calculation of how likely it is the opponent is bluffing based on game theory.
Dude I was making a star trek joke. Don't got all Yud on us.

The idea that Roko's basilisk want to torture anyone who "knew of its potential existence but did not directly contribute to its creation" is so ridiculiously specific and arbitary.

But it acts as an amazing tard filter to keep only the most crediulous in Yudkowsky's little circle.

Why not a cylon basilisk that tortures atheists and polytheists instead.

Why not a cylon basilisk that tortures atheists and polytheists instead.
Why not just a basilisk that tortures people choosing them by how much they'd suffer? Sort of an anti-utilitarian basilisk that just wants to increase the pain in the world, for no reason at all (sort of like how Roko's Basilisk operates), except it literally just wants to torture specifically the people who brought it into existence?

I mean why not?

That's the AI from I Have No Mouth Plus Also I'm Gay and I Have No Money and I Suck Cocks but I Really Like Want to Scream and Shit.

I think they got divorced a few years ago. She now goes by Logan Strohl.

This is possibly the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen. This is coming from an oldfag 4channer, wt snacks era.

Let this live forever in the kiwi archive. A monument to what exposure to eliezer yudkowsky kikery does.

Also I found this hilarous:

D00d can't even grift. No, of course none of your batshittery has been positive for anyone around you. Any contact at all is literally always a detriment.

Scott Alexander Siskind and his wife, who he met at one of Aella’s nude parties, welcomed twins. His wife also took the weird tooth bacteria Aella was shilling while pregnant.

I feel towards Scott how NULL feels towards Destiny. Someone you half want to like but then he goes and shits himself...
The Bible tells the story of Onan, son of Judah. Onan’s brother died. Tradition dictated that Onan should impregnate his brother’s wife, ensuring that his brother’s line would (in some sense) live on. Onan refused, instead “spilling the seed on the ground”. God smote Onan, starting a 4,000-year-old tradition of religious people getting angry about wasting sperm on anything other than procreative sex.

Modern academics have a perfectly reasonable explanation for all of this. If Onan had impregnated his brother’s wife, the resulting child would have been the heir to the family fortune. Onan refused so he could keep the fortune for himself and his descendants. So the sin of Onan was greed, not masturbation. All that stuff in the Talmud about how the hands of masturbators should be cut off, or how masturbation helped cause Noah’s Flood (really! Sanhedrin 108b!) is just a coincidence. God hates greed, just like us.

Modern academics are great, but trusting them feels somehow too convenient. So there in the waiting room, I tried to put myself in the mindset of the rabbis thousands of years ago who thought wasting semen was a such a dire offense.
1) Yes the greed point is valid.
2) It wasn't just about that though. What do you think people's retirement plans were 4000 years ago? That's right, CHILDREN. So it wasn't "just" about continuing the bloodline, it was also about ensuring the wife would have children that could take care of and look after her in the future. They didn't have freakin' social services back then, if you did not have a family unit to help you did not survive. It's why the Bible always groups "widows and orphans" together as people to look after. So it wasn't just Onan "masturbating" or "being greedy" but also that he was shafting a woman from surviving in that environment.

The average ejaculation contains about 300 million sperm. There are about 300 million people in the United States. If every sperm in a single ejaculation got to fertilize an egg and incubate in a womb, it would be enough to populate a second America.
*headdesk* Women only have 6-8 million eggs in their entire lives. You would need like 40-50 women to even get close to this thought exercise.

Good bye, son who would have destroyed the world. Good bye, daughter who would have saved it.
And of course you default to "son" who destroys and "daughter" who saves.

Do you expect someone like Yuddo the Clown, who is afraid of imaginary computer demons, to understand women or humans in general?
It's not Yuddo - it's Scott who has a wife and used a set of terms to describe his kids in a way that would suggest he expects to understand women.

The person being quoted is Siskind, not Yuddo. But he's just as retarded.
Every once in awhile he kind of hits the target. Like his essay on "radicalizing the romanceless" is probably one of the most fair write ups on incels & red pills I've ever seen.

But he also seems to demonstrate that tendency of smart people over-thinking themselves into idiocy.

These people are all just clones of each other anyway.

I believe I have said something like this before, but there are some things so dumb you need a Ph.D. to believe them.

This guy has an actual MD?

His post defending trannies is exactly this. A million words and he doesn't see the disanalogy between using pronouns (which affects other people) and putting a hair dryer in the passenger seat (which only affects that person).
It's not Yud, but he's a real MD who actually treats patents, so that's even less excusable.
He's apparently the sort of psychiatrist that treats by prescribing drugs rather than therapy. (a)

That's one of the worst things he ever wrote, troons are a major blindspot for him. He also scares easily when he gets pushback from his insane social circles.

But then again he's so scrupulously honest that he sometimes can't help but acknowledge reality, such as in his pieces on false rape accusations or black crime and his numerous discussions of bad social science. He eventually got canceled by the NYT for vague accusations of racism and sexism. One of his "friends", fedora-tipping atheist Topher Brennan, then decided to twist the knife by leaking some of Scott's old emails, in which he acknowledges that some HBD claims may be correct. Fun fact: Brennan is married to Scott's insane ex, a "non-binary" with zippertits and self-admitted autism and BPD. She's also the author of that stupid Cis By Default blog post that rationalists cite like gospel whenever they whiteknight trannies.

Scott's latest exploit was donating his kidney to a stranger, which, while a genuinely good thing to do, made even his commenters a bit umcomfortable because it was based on his commitment to the EA cult.

another bad post on transness from around the same era https://slatestarcodex.com/2013/02/18/typical-mind-and-gender-identity/
One of the things that convinced him was the accepted psychiatric treatment for gender dysphoria is transition. This makes a lot of sense because he is a psychiatrist after all. He was also influenced by the aforementioned non binary chick.

Regarding the kidney, that’s pretty wild. But EA is just bleeding heart stuff for people who think they are too smart for wokeism or normal politics. What if you or another family member actually needs that kidney later on in life? Well who’s to say those lives are more important than the one you already saved. Same mindset as boomers who put the well being of random illegal immigrants over their own kids.

Apparently most undirected donor programs (i.e. what he did) do provide something for that, but I'm not sure it's skipping an immediate family member to the front of the line or something less than that. That's obviously still more of a risk, but in this specific case someone would almost certainly step in. I don't know about his wife, but in general the compatibility is not much of a higher probability than for a kidney from the general population in that case, for his children he'd probably be too old at that point, and his parents are probably either dead or too old for a kidney transplant to be worth it.
