Yeah if you could change sex at will (because i think that’s what he is describing, gender seems meaningless in that context) with zero consequences plenty of people would do it just out of curiosity or for fun like those AI filters that make you look like the opposite sex. However it’s a complete pipe dream unless he’s talking about disembodiment in which case it would just be a skin for your character and then it’s only for aesthetic purposes. Changing sex on your online avatar doesn’t really matter very much. There’s really no point to these hypothetical thought experiments unless he can show that this is really the way things are moving. It kind of just serves to create some kind of false empathy in the reader because who wouldnt live as the opposite sex for a day, just to see what it was like?

I think it could be done either via some realistic simulation Matrix-style or they lock away your body (considering the WEF they will force you to do this) and if you want to interact with the real world you'll have to assume a remote controlled body which I then assume is going to be made-to-order at your specifications. Then what happens when the power grid fails? Who knows LOL! Are you even gonna be human anymore? WHO KNOWS! Are they going to let you have the real world or are they gonna lock you away in the Wired? lolololol do you see the challenges here?

You'd think a bunch of insular tech nerds who are the last line of defense between humanity and AI apocalypse would know how to keep their internet presence at least somewhat anonymous. With all the AI trowling the internet, surely these genius professional AI guys would know to avoid their data contributing to the threat.

You have to realize that all the rats aren't actually talking about modern AI such as LLMs, Stable Diffusion, etc. They are talking about sci-fi AI. We have ChatGPT, Claude, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion and U-Nets. They have HAL-9000, Skynet, GLaDOS and SHODAN. We're trapped in the reality of shitty glorified answering machines and infinite pornbots, they're trapped in a pocket prison of their own making built upon denying all of that. It's an e-cult, one that relies on the Us vs Them social separation of RATIONALISM rather than the cult-stereotypical physical and social separation, but they are still a cult. You might need to go a little nuttier to become a death cult, but the Zizians have the same origin. And, in practice, Rationalists have nothing to do with actual rationality just like Futurism isn't actually about the future.

Current cars do not already travel through underground tunnels. Because your cars run on gasoline and would have filled the tunnels with choking fumes, without either (1) a big expensive ventilation system, or (2) expensive electrified rails that would…impose friction costs? Make it too expensive to keep the tunnels in repair? I know that dath ilan just used battery-powered cars in underground tunnels and didn’t bother with electrified rails.
So there is a circular dependency between electric cars that require autopilots, autopiloted cars that require closed predictable tunnels, and tunnels that require electric cars.
This Earth cannot resolve circular dependencies and almost always gets stuck in Nash equilibria.
