I think we need to bring back the expression "venereal disease." Nobody brags about having VD.

The reactions in this thread are pretty clear proof that society needs a wake-up call when it comes to the alienation of people who've contracted socially vilified diseases.

I think she's a strong, fearless woman who is standing up for a good cause and you should all be ashamed for trying to silence her. I also don't see any evidence of lolcow behaviour she is simply standing up and speaking out for the rights of a marginalised section of society. How would you people feel if somebody you loved had herpes and was treated this terribly?

You are doing great, Ella. Don't let the trolls get you down.

So how long have you had herpes?

Just kidding :) But seriously, that was sarcastic, right?

I don't have herpes, and no, I'm not being sarcastic.

If 1 out of 6 people in America have herpes, and this one girl decides to stand up and say "society shouldn't treat us so shamefully" and everyone's immediate response is to call her a slut and a cunt and a diseased whore and try to shame and silence her, how does that prove her wrong? 1 in 6 people in America have herpes and now you're wondering why they're all so quiet about it? Speaks for itself, doesn't it.

You just think she's cute.

I've already found Ella Dawson's dox, it's pretty close to where I live so I'm gonna head down to her house in a few hours:

Haha just kidding you can't screencap this for pity points on Twitter, Ella. Try again next time.

I don't get the modern redefinition of how to deal with STDs. I mean, used to, it was just recognized that you got them from sleeping around, a ruckus was raised, and it entered the public spotlight. I think this is just tied in with the whole, 'don't tell me to stay safe, tell killers to stop killing!' mindset that's been permeating around leftist circles in the past few years. It's ok to talk about and tell everyone, because it's not your fault, we should teach herpes not to infect people.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

An idiot with herpes? Huh, guess she's a....herpa derp.
Don't worry, I hate me too.

You just espoused the equivalent of the fat acceptance movement for sexual health.

Add talking about your genital blisters to the list of exceptional things that feminists consider "empowering"

Previously we've seen:
  • Breastfeeding in public
  • Talking about your menstruation
  • Talking about your masturbation
  • Talking about anything to do with the vagina/vulva
  • Dressing like a trashy slut
In every case it's about rebelling against some long established standard of decorum for women and trying to upset the daddy they never had.
There's nothing wrong with breastfeeding. You can't compare them.

There actually is something of a social stigma against it. More conservative types are generally uncomfortable when they see a woman breastfeeding inside a library or DMV line. People are becoming gradually more accepting of it though.

There's a difference between breastfeeding an infant when it's hungry and getting genital herpes and then deliberately having unprotected sex.

One is a crucial part of life and the other is sheer idiocy.

Nobody is against breastfeeding, but there is a time and a place for everything. For a while now feminists have been doing staged breastfeeding stunts in deliberately inappropriate places such as parliament sessions and university graduations to make a stupid statement and get a rise out of conservatives.
