I saw an article maybe 6 months ago that went into how crazy people don't kill people. Pissed off people do. Whether there's a rational basis in the anger is another story... I couldn't find it again, but I found a few others. In the interest of not having just links to stupid outrage factories like Fox News that blame everything except what really matters, here are some sane articles I found:

So yeah. He fit the profile of a mass murderer. It's not just about insanity in general, but anger at the world, complete lack of empathy, and lack of impulse control.

The thing is though, that the typical profile of a massmurderer is starting to change. Especially school shooters (superficially I guess Eliott fit that category) like Klebold or Lanza doesn't really fit the traditional profile. I think it's a fair point to bring up because his whole schtick was that he had no ability to attract the women he wanted, when in fact he had almost every tool imaginable. He just didn't want to have to do any work.

I don't really consider this laziness as much as "fucking psychopathy". If Elliot preening around his BMW all afternoon would have scored him a girlfriend, I feel confident he would have turned to all the other things wrong in his life and viewed his failures (he had many) and "unfair" station in life through THAT obsessive lens. And because he was obsessive, we would have had a whole manifesto about how a lack of human companionship, or people not appreciating his genius, instead of viewing the world through the frame of >tfw no gf.

He had no career prospects. Chris spent 6 years at community college; Elliot spent parts of four or five and it appears he completed even fewer classes in that time. His future was tied up in winning the lottery. He had no friends after his last WoW buddy dumped him and makes frequent mention of this (like spending his birthdays with mother & father, not because he loves them but because he had no friends to spend it with).

If you take a step back, his life was spinning down the drain either way. If one of his crying jags forced through the revelation that the female body wasn't his salvation, I don't feel he would have gotten "better" -- I feel like he would have instantly switched to something else.

Perhaps the end would have been different (maybe he would have gone Mark David Chapman instead of mass shooting), and he would have blamed it on something else, but that denouement was coming.

Nah. She's the "Elevatorgate" one. But same difference. If they actually had to suffer some serious abuse/harassment/Patriarchy/discrimination, rather than the shit they exaggerate/invent they'd be gone in a flash.

He definitely had a lot of the characteristics of a stalker, aside from outright admitting to stalking the sorority girls. Fixation, entitlement, victim complex and out for revenge.

I think he was serious problem for them because now I'm starting to see non-internet-familiar folk taking a look at loveshies. Particularly assuming that loveshydom is what caused Elliot's rampage. They're going to start seeing a lot more of the precious persecution that they so heavily count on to define their identities.

Oh come now... As annoying as loves guys may be, they didn't "cause him" or even help mold who he became anymore than feminists, the patriarchy, gun culture, frat boy movies, or any other thing that interest groups try to push as the big problem, that causes mass murders. (Which funny enough also happens to be the same thing as they are proponents/opponents of...)

If you look at his manifesto, you can see that he was so fundamentally screwed up, that his loveshy-tendencies were more of a symptom of the problem, than the problem itself.

It's also pretty clear that he developed his ideas himself, and He didn't come into contact with other loveshys until a year or two ago. A long time after all his crazy was already in place.

If anything he has more in common with SJW than loveshys.

Another thing that's fairly obvious from the whinyfesto, is how autistic he was. One of the most disturbing things were how far removed from reality he was. Well normal peoples reality I guess. He had a full blown Aspies amazing ability to at any given time guesstimate what other people may be thinking, and being so far off the mark that it's hard to be any more wrong.

How far removed from reality was he? Towards the end he describes how it would be possible to make a much better civilization, by getting rid of females, in order to completely remove human sexuality.

(Yes, he has a halfassed plan on how to accomplish breeding. But it's really dumb and ain't pretty...)

He lives in such complete intellectual and mental isolation, that after having thought deeply about these things for many months, he came up with that creepily weird vision of removing woman, in order to get rid of sexuality, without even for a minute considering that HE WOULD BASICALLY TURN THE WHOLE PLANET GAY!!!

Agreed and I think this is where a lot of people are missing the mark. They watch on the sidelines and blame this or that, blaming the parents or society etc. Society isn't perfect and likely neither are his parents but I think what we're looking at is chemical imbalance. I read somewhere that psychopaths have problems with the parts of the brain responsible for things like empathy. I think an issue on those lines is more likely than "killing spree because no gf"

This is just me though, I'm just someone standing on the sidelines myself. I just think if one external factor was to blame we'd be seeing behaviour like this on a much larger scale. Lots of people are bullied or misogynist or lonely, only a handful go on killing sprees.

I've only read up to age 9(or something) of his manifesto. But it struck me he didn't mention the reason for his parents divorce, never seemed to ask about it or be curious over it. He was only concerned with how it interfered with his life. As someone who went through similar circumstances as a kid that was very odd to me. He never wondered why his parents didn't love each other anymore, or put blame on himself, which is typical behaviour from kids when parents divorce. Honestly he seemed to skate through it emotionally speaking, he just didn't like his nannies.

He was also born weighing 5.4lbs which is pretty small as far as I'm aware. The healthy scale is anywhere from 5.5lbs to 10lbs but normally for a baby to be born under 5.8lbs they have to be a preemie.

Really low birth weight is normally cause by multiple babies, smoking, drinking, drug abuse, infection or disease in either the mother or the child, poor nutrition, stress and a metric fuck ton of birth defects. So it's pretty likely he was born with something wrong with him.

He probably thought of them as inferior specimens, one of the current theories is that he stabbed them as they slept, but a lot of details are still unknown. His roomates don't seem to have interacted with him much, and one was already planning to move out of the flat because of Elliot's behaviour. Apparently ELliot also had a problem with one of his roomates, and had done a citizens arrest on one of them because Elliot thought the guy had stolen three candles. Geez.

In his Manifesto he says he was only born because of failing birth control and that he was unplanned. His mother got ill and feverish, then somehow the pill failed to work. He kinda thwarted medical science by being conceived in the first place.

I get the feeling he was way too sheltered, too coddled. Perhaps if he had born in a more humble background to less accomplished parents he would've grown up to be less of a nutcase. He certainly wouldn't have had as many reasons to feel insecure compared to others, that way.

His bodybuilder profile says he was 5'9" but I don't give him much more then 5'7" or 5'8" at most, I think he was lying about his height a little. His mother wasn't exactly short for an East Asian lady and his father does not seem short either. Elliot Rodger said he had a very high metabolism, which combined with his relatively late puberty, very weak frame and overall unhealthy appearance makes me think he may have suffered from some sort of hormonal disorder. He was quite underdeveloped both mentally and physically.

I would say nature and nurture. I can not express how important parental bonding within the first three years is. In particular, a lack of maternal bonding can cause sexual deviance as well as a lack of empathy. He had nannies, multiple nannies... He was spoilt to the point that he was still using tantrums to successfully get his way in his late teens.

This has been touched on, but I figured I'd just run with it. I just did a 15-second google search for "Santa Barbara Escorts" and came up with a few results that would easily fit Elliot's criteria... and this is just your run-of-the-mill backpage stuff. I'm certain there are less pedestrian agencies in the area that could fix him up with even hotter girls for four times the price.

And I doubt any of them would have put a dent in this guy's wallet. People in that neck of the woods pick up hookers like I pick up pizzas.
