We don't need no guns, everybody needs to make more love and condoms would be all the protection we need! AUGH YEAH

What's the difference between Elliot Rodger and an egg?

An egg gets laid before it cracks.

Ha!

One of the biggest problems with this country is that we make celebrities out of these guys, plastering their faces and names all over the media for weeks or months, and just poring over every detail of their lives.

I agree, sort of. One the one hand, there's a sort of celebrity status that develops around everyone from Charles Manson to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, with trying to become their next lover and hanging off their every word as if they are somehow deep or intellectual. And no the media does not help.

On the other hand, I DO think that we should study these people, if only to show how twisted, stupid and morally bankrupt they are. And perhaps to protect ourselves from future incidents like these. I DO believe we can learn from these people, if only in the same way that OPL serves to illustrate how not to live life or raise a child. I just don't think they should be celebrated or glamourized in any way, because they aren't worth it.

That being said, stuff like this goes on in certain lower-income neighborhoods all the time, and those incidents are only mentioned in passing by local news broadcasters, if at all.

And this I can agree with even more. Dozens of black and Latino people get shot every night in the US, and nobody gives a shit. Hell, there are people who have it much worse overseas. Kids who die in terrorist bombings or US drone strikes. Kids who get kidnapped by one militia or another, are forced to see their families murder, and then forced to fight for the people who kidnapped them. There are people dying of completely preventable diseases, or mutilated by landmines leftover from some pointless war, or being treated like slave labour in Dubai or being sold into brothels by their own families and having sex with with American tourists.

And the media doesn't care.

Meanwhile, people like Elliot Rodger are given everything in life, and go on a shooting spree when they don't get their way. Like I said, there are thousands of people who have it much worse than he ever did who don't go on shooting sprees. He was just a self-entitled brat. And of course the media will treat him like a victim. "What made him do it?" Meanwhile, if you have brown skin, you get labelled a "terrorist," and your entire family, your entire community, is collectively blamed.

So how many got shot in Chicago by street gangs last week? Does it matter? Who's gonna care?

Gang shootings in Chicago are something else entirely. We have a dumb ass mayor who is so set on making Chicago a "world class city" that the media will ignore all of that and just go along with him. Its all PR, and Emmanuel has a lot of money invested in it.

To be fair, rape is a big problem. Just unrelated to this massacre.
It's not nearly so bad as some folks like to pretend, and is but yet another distraction that's used to demonize a social\sexual\racial\whatever group. Seriously, God forbid we just accept that there's no one source of evil in this world!

no guns = no gun deaths
So deaths from knives, assault, cars, falling, bombs, poisoning, etc. don't count?

It's not like he ever raped anyone. He kept whining about how he was so attracted to tall, blonde, beautiful girls. But whenever he saw porn as a teenager he was "shocked and appalled" and stressed over it for days. Something about him makes me feel he is the type of guy, upon seeing China up close in the flesh, would "look away with a moment of being grossed out".

His main interest was status. He was fixated to popular guys like flies to a turd, and seemed to notice "tall, handsome muscular guys" an awful lot in his manifesto, as much if not more often then "gorgeous girls" who he never seemed to describe in the same detail. I'm getting the vibe some of this dude's sexual anguish and confusion may have come from repressed homosexuality; something that likely never occurred to him as it did not fit into the perfect ideal picture he had of himself.

You can't possibly look at this guy's permanent duck-face and not instantly think "total gaywad". Denial ain't just a river in Egyp, just sayin'.

I did not read all of it, because reading is gay :jace: but from what I can tell it can be be summed up as: "Nerds suck and we should stuff them in lockers, take their lunch money and date hot blonde leggy girls". Am I far off?

He's kinda-sorta saying a lot of the things we've said here, and in the Wizard threads... but still hedging his bets an awful lot. Essentially, it's "All our lives we've been shown movies and TV shows where the nerd gets the girl in the end because he never gives up on her. Well, HOLY SHIT MOVIES AREN'T REAL!!! So maybe we should learn to give up because RAPE CULTURE!!"

There's a bit of truth in both sides of the argument, I feel. On the one hand hand, just "giving up" on having a love life and romance altogether is just plain old defeatism and nothing good ever came of defeatism. That shit has to die.

On the other hand, when it is clear a girl has absolutely zero attraction towards you, to continue pursuing her and other girls just like her is of course a futile effort. One that will only yield success if first, you take a good long objective look at yourself in the mirror, realize your own flaws and imperfections and seek out to improve yourself. Then try again with renewed vigor, this time with a much better chance of success. It's a matter of reality vs. expectation, as much as it is one of attitude.

When a sports team always plays in the exact same formation, using the exact same tactic, and loses every single match it plays... does the coach just give up on playing, or does he call his players together, gives a motivational speech and discusses a new strategy for the next match?
