Well, depends on the UK. Stores won't sell alcohol in Scotland after 10 pm. Its' not that big of a deal, but if you don't feel like spending money at a pub, and have some friends visiting...Many a times has the "21:45 dash down the stairs" been employed.

Quite a few offies close at 10 around here as well. I dunno, I'd like stricter alcohol laws if it mean't less binge drinking, casual violence, teen pregnancy, fetal alcohol syndrome, teenagers with alcoholism, vandalism etc

Trust me, there's still plenty of that where I'm from. It just pisses me off that I can't buy real beer on Sundays, or after 9PM on other days.

Apparently in the US you only have to have 4 units of alcohol in one go to be considered a binge drinker... o.O

That'd make something crazy like 45% of all British guys binge drinkers. lol

Sucks being you. He really didn't grow up in luxury. He had Hollywood blue collar parents. It's a company town. His dad blew his money on his terrible documentary, and and couldn't even fulfill his obligations re: child support. His mom, moved from apartment to condo to townhouse, because they didn't have such luxury. At the end of the day, in his formative years, he spent his time in a room/basement, playing WOW. Elliot was enraged at both for not being in the high ten figures.

There is nothing to be baffled about. He was on the spectrum. Hence, he was the worst solipsist. He was a monster who hurt people who never hurt him (well maybe the two roomies, they may have accidentally offended him..)

I live in Los Angeles and I work in real estate, and the particular areas they lived in weren't exactly the kind of place your average joe could live in.

teheviltwn, say what you will about drinking Newcastle in nice restauauts. It is an excellent ale, and perhaps my favorite beer/ale out there. You brits sure know how to make great beer/ale ( what is difference between two anyway? like whiskey and bourbon?)

I know how destructive emotional abuse and lack of self esteem can be. Thing is though the worst killers in human history (as well as Lord Rodger) did not lack in self esteem

When I was over in korea, they had Bud Light and Budweiser in the same section as the other imported, gourmet beers, which I thought was quite amusing, so I know exactly what you mean. This is the law where I'm from:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_laws_of_Oklahoma
"Oklahoma's approach to alcohol is quite strict"
"Any beverage containing more than 3.2% alcohol by weight or 4% alcohol by volume, that is, most liquors, wines, and typical beer, may only be sold in licensed liquor stores at room temperature"
"Minors under the age of 21 are not permitted to possess or purchase alcohol; however, consumption in a "private setting" is not prohibited by Oklahoma law. "Minors may not have a blood alcohol level of more than .02%"
"Under Oklahoma law, it is a felony to provide alcoholic beverages to the "mentally deficient," the intoxicated, and persons under 21 years of age"
"It is illegal to sell packaged liquor (off-premises sales) on Sundays. Sales also are prohibited on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Low-point beer for consumption off-premises may not be sold between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
"Licensed vendors may not advertise happy hours, serve more than two beverages at a time to a customer, give a discount to a person or group of persons, or permit the play of games that involve drinking"
"Landowners cannot lawfully permit a person under 21 years of age to consume alcohol on their property. Punishment for this crime is a fine between $2,500 and $5,000 and up to 5 years of imprisonment"

Be glad you live in the UK, not in the Sooner State.
Shit, it seems like Oklahoma has worse alcohol laws than Maryland. I thought it was bad that I couldn't buy booze on sundays in my county. My condolences.

You can't buy (off-premises) alcohol on sundays in Baltimore city and Baltimore county. So I go by the boy scout motto: be prepared. Have emergency booze for sundays. Of course, sometimes I fuck up and I'm not prepared.

It's just that over here we call it 'Tyne Water' after the river in Newcastle as it's the cheapest nastiest dark ale you can buy. Generally only drunk by people who can't afford anything else but ran out of White Lightning Cider.

Lol. Maybe over here English beer is just less common and so its seen as "fancier." I have heard also, that while Americans think Stella Artois is "fancy beer" its considered similar to Newcastle in the UK?

The nickname for Stella is "Wife Beater". Because of the type of scene you usually see after people have been drinking. Stella tries to pull the fancy French shit in adverts here but it doesn't make much difference.

In Baltimore, we're very proud of our cheap beer, National Bohemian. Natty boh, as it's called. Heh, I was at a bar the other day and a guy in a Mr Boh mascot suit came over and pestered me and my roommate. In fact, I should've gotten a picture...

Edit: Ooh, actually, I did get a beer glass that day.

You mah boi need to try some Yorkshire ales!

As for the difference between beer and ale, there is none, as all ales are beers.

However the difference between lagers and ales is to do with the yeast used and the different temperatures in the fermenting process IIRC.

Come on. Neither Brits nor Yanks know anything about that delicious beverage known as BEER.

I gotta love Oktoberfest. I have been to Europe but never have seen it :(.
I went to this lovely German/black foresty restauraunt in America once. I loved the German beer they served, but can't remember what I drank! very dark and rich though.
Any recommendations?

BACK TO ELLIOT!: Someone said he was from a "blue collar" hollywood family? Oh I see, the kind that can't afford their private Island in the pacific, or have their lunch flown in from Paris everyday? Geez, talk about roughing it! Sorry to be sarcastic, but it seems Elliot and his family were very very comfortable if not exactly wealthy. He was able to fly to Morocco with his step mother, and go on a lot of fancy trips. His mother apparently thought she could afford to just give Elliot a BMW with no mortgage. Either they were well off enough to give him that, or his mother is pretty retarded.
I would perhaps have a slight more grain of sympathy if Elliot struck back at the bullies who were mean to him in high school and college, but instead he just killed random people, none of whom from what I can tell, fit the hollywood image of perfect masculinity/femininity.

"Myehhh, me and my mother need money! Gas is EXPENSIVE!!! PS: send legos."

WARNING MAY TRIGGER!

I once enjoyed sampling more craft beers than Cole. I wasn't a total dork about it, but it was kind of cool to discover all the different flavors and brews.

One day I popped a bottle of pale ale open and was savoring the delicious, foamy taste when a dead earwig slipped down the bottle neck and into my mouth.

You just don't "get over" that. :(

Personally, I prefer Boulevard Wheat. Eh, it's not too fancy, but hey, you can't beat a good wheat beer.

point being, this autistic monster, relatively, wasn't THAT spoiled.

You can be a multi-millionaire and still teach your children a good work ethic and you can be poor and spoil your children. It's not about material wealth it's about not teaching them manners and self-discipline. Hence spoiled like rotten fruit.

Germans? Pfffft. All fucking lagers!

Get a bit of the Bitter down ya kidder. Absolutely brilliant! (Although I am drinking a Scottish IPA at the mo, Deuchars. It's pretty good at taking the edge off).
