I actually don't think it's been that common in history for an autist to rise to billionaire status. That seems to be a thing of the tech industry. The "robber baron" type billionaires were generally pretty neurotypical in terms of intellectual development, although perhaps a bit sociopathic.

In fairness, historically the selection pressure was toward spergs who were able to mask. Those who weren't were usually drowned as changelings or left as a Simple Jack-tier farmhand who wouldn't get anywhere close to any position of importance.

A fair number of them had a lot of offspring and even if they might have tended to be emotionally distant, actually seemed to care about them. They'd usually pick a successor who would get the most attention and be groomed into a suitable replacement, but even the fuckups would get some kind of busywork foundation or subsidiary business that could be a tax writeoff. They'd also make sure to keep the UTTER fuckups away from the money and maybe pay them to stay away in Paris or wherever.

Definitely, though the number of offspring is less of a factor to consider with industrial age families because condoms and birth control weren't really invented yet. They were basically either child-hating hedonists who didn't have any kids because they aborted them all or they had moderate to large sized families. In the modern age, smaller families are more common, especially among modern upper middle and upper class families. This is a definite contrast to what you called the "salmon strategy" Elon has adopted.
