The FBI really needsh to be called on thish.
Also he's not doing it right, he's supposed to cover it in globs ofsemen hot glue to fix it.

You know, otherwise, he's really competent..
What about when he dunked an osborne case (with leather handle) into caustic chemicals? There are other vintage computing YouTubers that do a much better job of restoring vintage hardware. Adrian's Digital Basement and RetroManCave spring to mind.
I still cringe at the half-arsed job David did when he attempted a case repair on a Bell and Howell (rebadged Apple II) a while back.

I always found it amusing that, instead of just printing on some nice and dense glossy paper, he instead just mimicked the look by covering it in shipping tape and cutting precisely. It's such a janky boomer dad solution to come up with. Props for actually recreating the labels as closely as possible, I suppose.
I remember a ton of people having a collective shit over this video.
What makes me shit bricks is that if he wasn't such a lazy fucking nigger he could do better; or preferably, do nothing.I had no fucking idea what people were talking about until I saw the thread on /g/.
More context, for those out of the loop like myself:
>retarded youtuber gets his hands on one out of five known units of a prototype IBM computer
>it doesn't work, so he tries fixing it
>computer can't be switched on without the monitor plugged in (power switch is on the side of the monitor)
>he shorts two pins on the power connector going to the monitor to get around this, unsurpisingly the power supply blows up
>power supply is held together with security torx screws
>he "doesn't want to wait for the right tool to arrive", and takes a dremel to the power supply case of a very rare computer so he can remove the screws with pliers
>after damaging the power supply case, he replaces the fuse he blew with an incorrect one
>the computer still isn't working, what a surprise

I don't even know where my sides are anymore, this is brilliant
Haha. I’ve met Dave in person. He’s a nice dude, but he has that false-Messiah complex where he has surrounded himself solely around idiots who think he is brilliant because they know no better, and he abuses this. I still think some of his content is amusing (in the same vein as LGR, I guess), something to keep on in the background while working or doing something more involved.
He’s building a new set or stage for his show, and I really can’t wait to see how that debacle unfolds. If you’ve seen his home network setup, you can clearly see the man likes to take his liberties and cut corners.
The 8-bit Guy said:Eventually, about 8 years ago, we added some rooms onto our house. I actually did all of the electrical wiring myself, which our city inspector not only approved, but said I did it better *chuckle* than most electricians.
The 8-bit guy? More like the 9mm guy, amirite?
Also, where's the Techmoan YTP series? That one's legitimately hilarious.
prepare for painful wheezing
I agree, and I still like the guy and his content, fuck ups aside. If Boogie, Quinton, or any other Internet Famous ditwits had just a fraction of Dave's knowledge or work ethic, they wouldn't be the fucking losers they are now.You know, otherwise, he's really competent. I wonder if the chaotic fucking shitshow of everything going on is getting to him.
Someone send him an Apple 1 before the election, I wanna see what he does
