i would love to see Tony try. the authors are already spinning and misrepresenting their data imo.

this is a longitudinal cohort study- i.e. it covered a lot of people over a long time. to be precise, 6 657 456 people from 1980 to 2021. a sample this large should mean a lot of variables regress to the mean.

they put the higher suicide rates down to troons being bullied and harrassed, but to justify this they reference studies using self reports to justify the claim that they are subjected to increased bullying. this is odd, because they note in Table 1 that troons have a psychiatric comorbidity rate of 42.9%, compared to 7.1% for cis scum. don't psychiatric problems increase risk of suicidal ideation and completion?

troons also had higher all cause mortality, possibly due to the slightly higher medical comorbidity rate. poor lifestyle choices? hrt being fucking awful for you?

so i think the conclusions are pretty pozzed but the data is strong. i wish they had got a more fine grained picture, for instance breakdowns of those receiving hrt/butchery, and the non-suicide causes of death. due to the low prevalence of trooning out, there were only actually 12 suicides, out of 3759 troons, in this massive study, so its not really a huge epidemic of trans suicide.

Yeah Montana only has 2 representatives (every state has 2 senators and 2+ reps depending on population) and those are also both Republican since 1997.

The District is potentially competitive, it's only R+6 and the incumbent won by 3 in 2022. Democrats sometimes can win in Montana by running up the score in the cities. Zac is absolutely a terrible candidate for this however, not only is he a troon and an idiot, he'd try to run far to the left of the party which would doom him trying to win outside Missoula. There's a real possibility that Zac literally could not win the nomination for a district that encompassed the entire city of Missoula. To move to the Montana State Senate in Missoula's large district for example he would have to take out an actual woman who herself just took out the incumbent:

It's just typical delusion. And I don't mean troon delusion, I mean media delusion. Read any story about some local politician getting in the news, like your own local politicians, and you will see "experts" and others speculating about them for higher office. Write all these down and see how many of them you ever hear about again, the number will be closer to zero than anything else. It's an easy way to get locals to pay attention to the story, you're in on it before it happens and the story is sorta about YOU because you live there! Everybody in every state has heard about how their Governor might be a pick for this or that by the incoming President (or before, maybe they'll be picked for Vice President!!!! HUGE WIN FOR YOU SINCE YOU LIVE IN THE SAME PLACE!) and few of them ever are picked for anything. It's a way for the people close to that person and people in the area to strongly suggest that they personally are important because they have their finger on the pulse of the entire nation. (They don't, they're irrelevant and nobody cares about them.)
