If the UK goes down the "nah, we're not going to fuck up our kids" path, that's a
huge blow to the gender clinics in the US and Canada.
It's easier to dismiss Sweden, Norway, Finland and France backing away from that. Sure, the studies proving that it's all bullshit from Sweden and Finland are (generally) published in English, but not always. Unfortunately, if their experts come on our idiotic broadcast outlets, if their English isn't "perfect" (grammar, very light accent), it gets ignored.
There's a cultural link to the UK from both the US and Canada that makes their findings more noteworthy to our broadcast media. The research may not be better than other countries' research, but it's always in easily understandable English, and if the researchers actually appear on screen to discuss it, they have accents that we have come to know and love from the movies and television over the decades. It shouldn't make
that much of a difference, but.....yeah, it does.
So let's say Dr Cass comes on some stupid Sunday morning news-ish show to talk about the report. There's going to be a background piece talking about how this "bombshell" is changing the way they deal with "trans kids". There will probably be some clips of British politicians with suitably plummy accents taking this Very Seriously, maybe some TV hosts discussing it on Aunty Beeb, and oh yeah, even Labour is on board with the Tories about this (bipartisanship!!). I'm sure they're going to try real hard to find one relatively good looking trans kid for "balance" to squeak a little bit about how this gives zyr the sadz, but that doesn't have the tear-jerker quality it once did.
All the good doctor has to do is look professional (white coat optional, but I say go for it), and
not lose her shit in front of a camera, and she's got it made. If she isn't talking in unintelligible Cockney slang, her accent is gonna win the day.
We don't always follow the UK's lead, obviously, but when they decide to back away from something, we do pay attention to it more on this side of the Atlantic than if the rest of Europe changes their minds. They
have to destroy the Cass Report's credibility by any means necessary if they want the gravy train to continue.
Snaggle Toof, Vanessa and Big Gay Al sucked at debooonking it, so Turban is trying to play clean up. WPATH and GLAAD are also responding to this five alarm fire. (USPATH is probably just going to retweet what WPATH said. They got some butchering to do to make their Lambo payments, ya know.) I'm sure they're trying to get the American Medical Association and the American Psychology Association to issue statements about how this is all crap, too, but IDK if they are that eager to go up against a respected fellow physician like Dr Cass with guns blazing.
