$ (ETH) Ethereum - ETH and the Ethereum Project General Discussion

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Tried staking on Kraken and they charge a deposit fee (lol) and make you wait up to 20 days before earning interest aka "bonding period" bullshit.

If you deposited 1 ETH, it will take you about 8 weeks at 5% APR just to break even from the deposit fee plus bonding wait time.

Did you create a new account for this?

I staked ETH on Kraken account a month or so ago, no fee, and while they said there would be a bonding period, I received pay out my first week.

This was pre-London though, maybe that changed things.

I am holding, but I can't even sell yet because of tax reasons.
That said , I will probably hold ETH for years, I could even see that the flippening happens someday.

Couldn't agree more. What the hell is the point in selling anyway? Unless you are under financial strain and have to, just hold out and see how much it can compound.

Well, you can increase your stash by selling high, waiting on a dip and buying more back than you initially had.
This can be annoying though, depending on where you live, many countries have a tax on short time-speculation. In Austria for example, if you hold over a year and sell then, the profit is tax-free.
There are ways around that ofc, but I like to keep things simple.

That's my concern as well, I've got enough problems with my taxable accounts, adding crypto into the mix will just create more problems. I view crypto as I view precious metals; a means to fight against hyper-inflation. I just buy and HODL until the time comes where my hand is forced.

Plus I am autism and don't have the patience to watch a line move around all day, lol.

With such a volatile "asset" I don't know how reliable this is. I need to cash out after a while if the conditions are right because funny internet money may collapse tomorrow. Anyway, for now I think you are right to hold ETH. I will do the same. I will be extremely itchy to sell if we go above the ATH.

This bull run isn't quite like the last one. It's not gone parabolic. I think it's based more on the growing realization of how much utility the network has. People have been going crazy over NFTs, play to earn video games and wat not. That is all Ethereum. Much more stable growth.

I know everyone is fellating ADA right now, but that is looking like the DOGE crowd FOMOing on the next get rich quick scheme.

I'll need to cash out some of my earnings pretty soon, waiting for somewhere north of 4k before I sell some though. Market has been bobbling along at just under for the last few days which has been fun to watch.

The one thing I do know is I'm not making the mistake I made with bitcoin over 10 years ago when I cashed out completely assuming it was a gimmick. Never again.

can you even imagine if stocks behaved like this?

Why have transaction fees been elevated for the past month? Why is the network always so busy now? Is it NFT money laundering?

I clearly missed out on some big time potential gains, but I'm considering putting up a bit of money here ($50, maybe $100.) I humbly ask as a crypto noob: should I wait a bit for a dip or will I probably regret not going for it now?

for small amounts like that you're probably better off just putting in a few bucks a month without even looking at the price for a year or two

Timing the market requires either inside knowledge or so much autistic mathematics you'd make a MIT student blush.

So no, just invest a lump sum now and wait. Ethereum has reliable returns even after crashes.

Just treat it like gambling chuck a little money into it that you can afford to lose and if it makes money you win if not who cares the less thought you put into crypto the more money you'll make. If you're just getting into crypto don't get too caught up with how much money you could have made if the coin keeps going up after you sold if you made money you made money. Just stick with the big coins and when people start posting suicide hotline numbers start buying up.

Ethereum has definitely been my best investment. Pretty consistent growth without exploding so rapidly you worry about the rug being pulled out from under you at any moment. SHIB and so on was fun to see massive gains but also retarded stressful too.
