Infected Euphoric atheists

I think another reason so many atheists target the Abrahamic religions is due to how the followers respond. All three have quite a few members that chimp-out when confronted with contradictions or evidence that depicts their belief in a poor or immoral light. Not to say followers of other religions don't act like asses at times, but they aren't as numerous as the one from Islam, Christianity, or Judaism.

Ah okay - I never really thought his atheist views were what got him banned, I just guessed from them that he was a difficult poster. I remember he derailed a thread for a couple of posts (I think it was the Dobson thread) to go on a tirade against religion so I wondered if that was a regular thing or not.

Then again, he was good friends with Woody-Chan so that tells you all you need to know.

And not just those three, but the fundamentalists of the three. The liberal Christians/Jews/Muslims are mostly ignored, or called "cherry pickers, enablers, liars, etc". Or they're told they're REALLY just secret atheists who are deluding themselves. (Yes, I've actually heard this one. Mmmkay.)

Most of the euphoric atheists are people who haven't really thought very much at all about their atheism. It's mostly done out of a 'fuck you, dad' statement which never gets revisited later on, so the idiotic thought processes and cognitive biases that lead to religious dickery remain firmly in place.

I remember having a hearty laugh at some euphoric dingus on Youtube who seriously said that religion would "die out in a free marketplace of ideas". He was also fond of using a redneck voice for his strawmen.

Youtube pundits.

Or say that without religion, the world would be all sweetness and light, not realizing that many of the major wars and conflicts that have gone on in the world have not been because of religion (WWI and WWII, certainly the two greatest of the 20th century, were NOT fought over religion). When you point this out, they hand wave it away, and say it's just people making excuses. "Oh, religious people just like to say, it's only humans that are like that!"

But um, who the hell invented religion in the first place? (Studying history, I'd say nationalism and a desire for territory and conquest was probably a bigger motive than religion.)

The major religiously motivated wars are long past. It's race, nationalism, and other dividing factors that's been the major killer for the 20th century onwards.

Also, another funny thing these atheist groups inherited from religion without thinking about it: Doctrinaire splits and conflict. Atheists, anti-theists, atheism plus, they really hate each other.
