There seems to be like a certain sense of entitlement when it comes to internet atheism.
It's like "I'm so much better than you for not succumbing to superstition"
It's like the holier than thou mentality all over again.

It also comes with laziness, since most of them seem to actually stop doing anything remotely productive with their lives once they tap into it. Case in point: spamming shitty images that are even lazier than the average Chick Tract.

If you truly believe that there is no existence after death, what does it matter what other people do and don't believe? That's the part I find hilarious about Euphorics... they go on and on about how massive the universe is and how old our planet is, and yet concern themselves with the beliefs of a tiny little insect on some insignificant rock who lives a cosmically infinitesimal amount of time. If a person is gone after they die, what is to be gained by trying to alter their beliefs while they live? Whether you succeed or not, in a century they'll still be the same mass of inert, decayed tissue.

If anything I think that atheism actually makes religion safer to practice because you don't have the risk of choosing the wrong one and being doomed to eternal damnation

Oh, you see, they believe that by preaching atheism they contribute to the liberation of sheeple and the advancement of mankind.

I think you mean "Want to look better than others and hide the fact that they have nothing else in their life worth a shit. Either that or are going through a massive 'fuck you dad' experience for the first time."

Oh, you see, they believe that by preaching atheism they contribute to the liberation of sheeple and the advancement of mankind.
But again, if they really believe that, then from what are the sheeple being liberated? They'll still die. And how does mankind advance? Again, they'll still die.

Part of me thinks, on some level, Euphorics really want to believe in an afterlife, and that somehow realizing there is no God is a "salvation" of sorts for them. Because if human life truly only consisted of what happens between birth and death, then it would be a waste of your valuable life to spend it spamming memes about how pointless life is. That's time you could spend getting laid or watching My Little Pony, whichever is more plausible.

Atheists (of all types) rightly point out the hypocrisy of Christians, saying that if Christians truly feared divine punishment, they wouldn't break their own rules as often as they do. And that's a fair point. However, I can't help but think this is the exact same hypocrisy at play... if Euphorics (not all Atheists now, just them) were to truly NOT believe in an afterlife, they'd live their lives entirely for their own benefit, and not give a fuck what anyone else did with theirs.

Oh, it's pretty obvious that they're scared about their beliefs, since they aren't secure enough to not scream about it. It's essentially a way to reaffirm their new identity and to give themselves some amount of solid ground to work with. I know this because :powerlevel:Agnostic Atheist:powerlevel:

I think the reason they care is that they believe that other people's religious beliefs are the reason they aren't living in a paradise of technologically achieved prosperity and pleasure, perhaps even transhuman immortality.

Unrelated to that thought, here's a fluff story from the Times of Israel about a man who tried to get a restraining order against God. http://archive.is/CP2Or The author presents him as a religious person with a screw loose, and while I don't have any way of checking, it seems to me at least as likely that he was a Euphoric perpetrating an epic troll on the system to make his point.

I think it's fanatics that are always trying to convert people that seem to be the most insecure about their faith. It's like, the more people agree with me, the more likely I'm right. People who are secure in their beliefs are content to let others believe what they believe, or just model behavior that they hope others will emulate. (GOOD behavior, of course, not acting like a douchebag)

I'd like to add on to that. Since they believe that you just cease to exist when you die, and it's like it was before you were born, then it's like you never lived to begin with. According to them, live is a complete accident and absolutely nothing matters. Yet they act completely to the contrary, like shit does matter. You can't keep screaming that is no absolute meaning but then turn around and say there is. You can't have both ways. Make up your fucking minds.

Also, nihilistic materialism/ materialistic nihilism tends to turn people off, so don't be surprised if people are going to want to stay away from you because of it.

Unless you're lucky enough to look like a rockstar in black leather, then chicks dig it. But they're unfortunately crazy chicks.

Religious tolerance. Abrahamic scriptures say things scarily similar to Nazism in terms of exterminating your enemy, yet the only difference is a thousand year old tradition, and I'm expected to view it positively. How is blaming the Jew for the decline of Germany any more objectionable than blaming the infidel for the decline of the middle east? Or blaming gays for the decline of Christianity or the country? It seems it all becomes acceptable once you put a much-aged cultural tradition on it.

The most bizarre thing I see as a trans person is people twisting themselves into knots trying to be gay/trans and remain in their faith. It's like trying your best to fit in as a black man at a KKK rally; these people inherently do not want you to even exist. Like, there's a group for so-called gay Muslims called "I am not Haram", yet the Koran explicitly says you are haram. It makes no sense to me, this paradox, and this is regardless of what you think of Islam or anything else.

Everyone else seems to get it or sees how important it is. Am I just missing something? Why do I have to respect these beliefs, but not Nazism?

People may not immediately see it, but when they express approval for something like Christianity or Islam, they implicitly approve of an ideology that is as bad as Mein Kampf in some parts.

Many religions are no different than modern hate groups and their texts. The difference is only thousands of years, and a cultural demand for "tolerance" of these repudiated beliefs. People find Nazism's hatred of Jews unacceptable; so why do they find Christianity's hatred of gays acceptable?

Euphoric Atheists are to Religion as Strict Constitutionalists are to Government: they are illiterate nig-nogs who can't understand that the system fucking mutates over time.

They like to ignore the fact that we as a species let our ideas and beliefs evolve alongside with us. To a euphoric, there are no flexible believers or those with alternative interpretations, just die-hard fanatics that will one day bomb a place like an abortion clinic or a science museum. If they were to acknowledge people being flexible with their beliefs, that means they need to give up the high-horse the love to stand on.

Nice use of a fallacy MikeGoldstein used right there. Throwing a little ad hominem to sound witty. Because every catholic must be proud of their own religious belief having done such bad things, never mind the Catholic church has actually been making some changes such as stances on evolution. tornadoshanks attempt at a joke goes as well as A-Log doing stand-up.

Minor, but have a pic of my transtrender roommates car. Spot the :neckbeard:
If your roommate is female, all you're missing is the "Well-behaved women seldom make history" sticker, which is code for "I have no accomplishments of my own, but I'm a total bitch".
