They were complain about Christmas. And if they weren't allowed to celebrate it, then Christians shouldn't be allowed access to medical care. Then they said they wanted to celebrate Christmas because they wanted free shit.

What a potato. Let me guess, he still lives with mommy and is a useless lump that sucks out money due to being unemployed.

None of this makes any sense logically.

I've previously stated in this thread that it's a holiday that was celebrated pre-Christianity. But even if that wasn't the case, medical care has nothing to do with holidays.

It's not possible to bar someone from celebrating a Federal holiday that exists in hundreds of countries around the world just because of their religious belief. Most people from other religions like Buddhists are usually very secular and celebrate Christmas anyway because it's a much more societal holiday than a religious one.

@The Colonel did word it poorly. By what's being said, does Colonel mean there was some euphoric atheist that complained about not being able to celebrate Christmas because of the idea that it is the (incorrect) date of birth of Jesus? As you said, it's not only something that in essence predated Christianity (here was the likes of Saturnalia and such) but its also celebrated in other parts of the world such as Japan where Christianity isn't the majority religion.

"A fictional character doesn't believe in God. Therefore neither do I.

The amount of wat I'm feeling right now is incredible. Just how pathetic can your reasons be?
Enough to do it because of some admiration of fictional character from cartoon. Out of all the reasons one would choose to be an atheist, there are much better reasons, be it having a lack of faith in any sort of deity or even feeling the god of a religion one grew up with doesn't really click right, especially with the suffering humanity goes through.

Tell me more about this fedora who fails to understand what faith is.

Never had a problem with faith personally, even as an Atheist. Everyone has faith in almost everything. To decry faith is absurd. When I board a plane I haven't checked the maintenance logs to ensure everything has been signed-off, haven't spoken to the crew, haven't even checked the damn plane. I have faith that everything necessary has been completed before hand because, I assume, that the airline doesn't want the plane to crash. Faith is just another word for assumption, albeit with more baggage when dealing with autists.

Why is the "organized" aspect of religion that important? Irrationally is perfectly okay by itself.
Because compared to unorganized, the organized would have more numbers and such. That is just a guess.

I think that the idea is that Atheism is a disorganized religion
That would be true even if one has to say Atheism isn't a religion (one can say that in place of religion, atheism is just having no belief in a religion but at that point, some would ask who cares aside from some individuals).

I think that some atheist actually like to think of themselves as "spiritual" as opposed to organized religious. I haven't seen a difference, except they are more likely to fight and break up over stupid shit.

I think most (euphoric atheists or not) who are opposed to organized religion are against it because of the abuses of power that can occur in it, or opposition to the notion of "middle management" between regular people and God, a desire for spiritual freedom, or a combination of the 3. I don't think opposing organized religion is automatically 2edgy4me.

But when one looks down on followers of organized religion just because they follow it, that's going towards euphoria there.

That is true. You have people using it as a tool for whatever purpose there is such as control and such examples are there, be it minor or major. As you said, looking down on a follower of organized religion just because said person follows it is going towards euphoria, especially if said follower shows to be a person that isn't a blind follower.

I've scrubbed the floor of the mess that was made by a certain-now-threadbanned-member.

Also, please don't use this thread as if it was a Deep Thoughts religion/atheism thread. This is a lolcow thread. Make with the funny people.

And the philosophy that religion should hate science is a recent one, started by atheist historical revisionists. So they’re the reason for making their own goddamn enemies. Here’s a post written from a historian’s perceptive on how these myths evolved alongside a review of a book that sets shit straight: http://armariummagnus.blogspot.com/2009/10/gods-philosophers-how-medieval-world.html

There seems to a subgroup of “New Atheists”, including the aforementioned Skeptic Feminist, that are also Soviet-fags. Because mindless worship and misinterpretation of notable works of literature is okay when it fits your ideology. Usually they use the Space Race and the school system as proof of atheist superiority, but those schools weren’t too different than the ones you find in America now: focused on grades and politics above student needs. And sure the Russians got to space first, but it was a goddamn disaster that killed tons of people, leaving to government cover-ups. Cracked (of all sites!) has a decent primer on this (take the Morse Code rescue message stuff with salt, it’s never been confirmed): http://www.cracked.com/article_19142_5-soviet-space-programs-that-prove-russia-was-insane.html

Wait, these idiots actually think the SOVIET UNION was a good thing? I had a professor who was from the USSR, who spent time in a gulag, who could tell this assbulbs a thing or two. It's a good thing I'm drinking right now.
