I like how they act all educated and academic, but fail to grasp the meanings and context of ancient mythology. It's like their "put the Bible in the fiction section" stunt -- it is NOT fiction, from a literary standpoint, it is mythology. (And from a believer's standpoint, a holy text.)

Atheists that evangelize don't have that much to offer, especially because they say that there will be nothing after you die.

I've always found it odd that they try to make nihilism (albeit, a sophomoric understanding of it at best) as appealing as they seem to think it is. For all their talk about an irreligious morality and "good for goodness' sake," they don't talk much about what that morality entails or what the source of that moral code is (making their morality entirely arbitrary and, therefore, pretty meaningless in my book). It's essentially the locker room handjob of ideologies -propped up to massage the ego but without any real substance or meaning.

How depressing and pessimistic a worldview is that?

Indeed, and their credibility is pretty weak. If you believe there's nothing after you die, and the few years we have are literally all we get of existence, there are two possible endgames:

1) suicide.
2) living your life however pleases you most, whatever that may be.

Presuming someone opts for #2, not only shouldn't it be a problem for other people to choose to believe (since it's their life and why frustrate what little they have of it) but Euphorics are wasting their own precious time stressing about the lives of others.

I'm going to assume that you are all familiar with the "In this moment I am euphoric" quote that has been bandied about the Internet to make fun of these enlightened academics for several years now. Shit, it inspired the title of this very thread.

Well, pictured below is none other than the original AA Lewis quote, plus an equally intellectual introduction:

It's the fucking "Eh?" that does it for me.

Also, an archived page of the comments on the original post. In a rare display of self-awareness, the r/atheism mods moved the post to the spam folder almost as soon as it was published, meaning that these comments are actually from r/cringe brigands who had it linked to their subreddit.

Oh, a teenager who has it all figured out. How unique.

Hey guys. There's something big that's going tomorrow.

https://reset2016.com/

Basically, it's kind of like a Christian version of the reason rally, but actually looks to help and encourage others rather then just ego stroke.

Wonder how much the euphorics will get triggered by this. They're planning to get at least a million people at the mall. (In comparison, 30.000 people were expected to show up at the reason rally, then only about 5.000 actually showed up.) The euphorics are going to get steamrolled by this. What do you guys think?

And again, just like last time, should there be a separate thread for this, or should it stay here? (Even though this actually does warrant recognition.)

Found a website dedicatedt o help those "recover" from religion. Yay to self righteousness.

Also here's a piece of work who said that atheism "saved his life".

No, seriously, it did, if it weren't for atheism, I'd be a delusional religious lunatic. Thanks to atheism, I feel the freedom I didn't have and am now able to feel the ability to think and express myself, religion didn't do that.
I don't believe in religion, I don't believe in god, I tried, honestly, I did, but it doesn't click, no amount of "bible bullshit" can convince me to go back, honestly, I like myself the way I am and I won't be going back, sorry kids.

Yeah, you like being where you are, needing to shit on and grief to others to validate your own worthless, meaningless existence. Atheism didn't save your life, it robbed you of it. But somehow you're still the hot shit. And yet you wonder why everyone hates you. You bring it on yourself.

The thing that amuses me is he sounds exactly like a fundie who says pretty much the same thing about atheism; that if they were atheist, they'd happily murder and rape people.

"Atheism saved my life. Without it, I'd still be alive, but..."

'Life of reason' my ass.

The funny thing is, you can be an atheist and still be religious. There are schools of Hinduism and Buddhism which deny the existence of a supreme deity.

Ha, you actually expect them to know shit about any religion? Outside of the few bible passages they've memorized to mock Christians, they don't know shit about any other religion and usually write off any sort of faithful reference not made by Richard Dawkins to be a sign of low intelligence. They claim that they're intelligent, but they never make any attempt to really learn anything and will dismiss any information that doesn't support their hateful worldview. Them and those hateful zealous Christians they hate so much are really just two sides of the same coin.

Born again atheist.

But then they'll fire back that their not because they don't kill people in droves for not thinking like they do. Well I got two words that shoots that bullshit down. North Korea. If that's not enough, I got another two words. Soviet Union.

They'll fire back that they don't kill people in droves for not thinking the same way... ten seconds before saying "But if we got rid of all the religious people, the world would be a better place, so how can we do that?"

It seems that the Euphorics of Australia have found a new enemy... JEDI!

I have nothing to say. We're getting close to rock bottom, people.
