This has probably been brought up before, but a lot of atheists seem to only hate Christianity and never talk about other religions. Have they ever criticized Hinduism, or Buddhism, or Islam? I don't mean in a "I hate all religions" way, I mean directly mentioning them like they always do with Christianity. I don't have anything against people who fell out of religion or just don't believe, but it seems like a lot of them have a hateboner for only Christianity because of some perceived slight or "abuse."

Well most athiests grew up with Christianity and had to ENDURE going to church on sunday as a kid. They don't care about the others as much because they can't spite dad that way.

It's not really in their cultural wheelhouse. Atheists in India criticize Hinduism (and sometimes Islam) and don't have much bad to say about Christianity. Atheists in Nigeria criticize both Islam and Christianity.

It makes more sense when you realize they're criticizing politics instead of religion, per se. A neckbeard living in Ohio doesn't really have much reason to care about the BJP in India, so why bother.

Speaking of memes stuck in 2008, I just found this on Facebook.
It's pretty funny, but not for the reasons the poster thinks it is.

Religion creates hospitals. Science creates agent orange.

The difference is that India and Nigeria have actual problems caused by religion. American euphoric atheists are just whining. Even in 2004 there were no real problems for them to rally against.

In part it's because many of these people raving about Christianity just don't really know much about other religions. Think about how often we see e-atheists filming in a room that looks like it belongs to Chris Chan. Those people don't know about anything other than the atheist talking points and disposable "nerd" entertainment.

Science is the reason those hospitals can save lives as well as they can now. Religion can, in fact, coexist with science. Gregor Mendel, a very important early biologist, was a Catholic. He was so Catholic, he was a monk.
I agree. Science is very much a good thing despite humanity's misuse of it. I was just attempting to illustrate how dumb the analogy is. Analogies are not a substitute for reason.

Proximity, nothing more complicated than that. It's not like they're surrounded by proselyting Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, ect. They're removed from them so the sting ain't there.

I'd fucking love to see Pew or some other research org do some kind of religious literacy vs. science knowledge vs. nerd culture knowledge quiz.

e.g., "On what day of the week does the Jewish Sabbath start?", "If a car is speeding down the highway at 90 miles per hour, how far does it go in 40 minutes?", "What planet is Chewbacca from?" and so on

I'd be willing to bet money that religious and scientific literacy are both correlated with educational attainment, and dumb nerd shit is uncorrelated with scientific literacy but negatively correlated with religious literacy.

Truly a 5000IQ move, the Christbros are truly finished this time.

"badass kicking new atheist"
LOL

By their own admission, atheism is impossible to prove or disprove and don't attempt to do so. It would be one thing if they couldn't prove it if they had logical arguments to back up their beliefs or even just any sort reason why atheism beneficial, but they don't. It's theoretically  possible for atheism to be true, but extremely implausible and just flat out doesn't make sense. The only sort of atheism that actually makes sense is Buddhism, which is arguably closer to panentheism anyway. Even during the mercifully brief period I was a fedora tipper I still wasn't an atheist but a misotheist.

If you used the internet in the 2000s this was posted unironically quite often. An embarrassing amount of fedora atheism just boils down to "if it wasn't for reLIEgion I'd be on the Starship Enterprise right now!"

Remember when Family Guy did this bit?

South park also did one with rival atheists groups and one group were otters.

My problem with this is that it's a narrow view of the world. For people who put themselves on a pedestal of reason and logic, their worldview to me is secular and liberal version of what you'll see on Fox News. As if they were two sides of the same coin.

Atheism and liberal politics seem to go hand in hand, they've made liberal politics into their new religion. Considering how arrogant, smug, and hedonistic most atheists are, that makes sense since liberal politics are weaponized childishness anyway. They are mentally stuck at fourteen years old when they began to hate their Christian parents, and they get VERY vicious towards Christians they encounter. They are miserable and resentful and behave like angry and hateful clowns despite claiming to be in favor of "accepting everyone". Even though they claim they don't (some do because of their sheer arrogance) hate Christians, any Christian who has ever been on the receiving end of atheist "tolerance" can see through their lies.

You know at one point I considered converting to Islam not for any of the theological reasons just so I could go around being a complete and utter ******* to women minorities and the LGBT BBQ mafia and then call them islamophobic
