Euphorics also have a great deal of difficulty separating the customs and traditions of a belief from that belief's core tenants. The resurrection of Christ has a very profound meaning that can be considered on a variety of levels. Focusing on the "eggs and rabbits" aspect of Easter just displays a lack of understanding on THEIR part.

USA isn’t uniform density. Coastal regions are dense to the degree dense European regions are.

Europe is more dense on average but not uniform density either. There are rural areas and small communities throughout the continent. Even in the densest non-microcountry, the Netherlands, you can find small communities and secluded homes.

Whether people take it to the streets is more a culture thing. Modern France in particular has very strong traditions in striking and protesting. Other European countries are less keen, some even apathetic.

This is a case of two groups of lolcows fighting while we get to watch. Euphorics get to HURR HURR at Christian holidays being borrowed from pagans... but the only reason that plays at all is that fringe Evangelical Christians get all assmad if you suggest that Jesus wasn't a white English speaking dude with short hair.
 
I used to think that having an IRL community for non-believers to gather on a regular basis in lieu of church (former Christian, miss the community of church /powerlevel bring on the ratings) would be a good thing.

Not anymore. Too much autism, just as much fundamentalism, more rigidness and hate than all but the most extreme churches.

The only point the euphorics might have is calling out the politicians when they only offer thoughts and prayers after a tragedy. It does get very old to see tragedy after tragedy, even natural disasters, go by with our lawmakers doing nothing but praying. However, I'm rating myself opmistic that even a quarter of the ones bitching about thoughts and prayers are only mocking politicians.

This thread is curing me of any euphoria I might have had, so really KF is making me a better person. (I can't do emoji/whatever the fuck the forum calls them on my phone right now. Insert a funny one of your choice here.)

Nah. Can't be. This is a horrible place full of horrible people.

EDIT: a few weeks ago Kevin Smith had a massive heart attack because even though he had lost a lot of weight, being fat is a fucking bad idea (look put HAES dumbasses). He's fine, but anyway, Chris Pratt tweeted that he was praying for him.

Euphorics of course went nuts. Pajiba, a left-leaning pop culture site that spergs about movies and chimps about Trump and thinks thoughts and prayers for school shootings are useless even agreed that this chimp out was retarded. (I don't think Pajiba is worthy of a thread or anything, even with chimping about Trump, it's pretty level headed and doesn't attract many cows)

What I'm about to say probably belongs more to Tumblr subforum, but since there isn't an atheist theme there, this one'll do.

I have a strong feeling that a lot of people think that religion is bad only cause they live through fiction, and a lot of fiction has churches of evil based on Catholic church, directly or symbolically (as authors know no better, and aren't versed in any other kind of organised religion). So they see it, and their "I only go outside to protest" brain starts seeing familiar "it's evil!" red flags.

Interesting point. Nevertheless, they substitute that fiction for organized religion.

When Euphorics say that religion holds back scientific progress, kindly point out that the current President of the Mormon Church (Russel Nelson) is one of the Pioneers of Open-Heart Surgery. And a lot of other facts I probably don’t know about.
 
The idea that religion is anti-science is an incredibly uneducated statement. Up until the Renaissance nearly all philosophical and scientific thinking of Europe was being done by Catholic and Protestant monks, mainly because they were the only ones with the means and luxury to do so.

Pretty sure a lot people would still think something created them(like a God) even if they weren't taught about religion by their parents/school. It's normal since science hasn't answered questions such as "What happens to me after I die?" besides the obvious decomposition of the body.

Wasn’t there an experiment that showed that when you die, you lose about 3 lbs? And some people thought that showed evidence of a soul potentially existing?

The study was generally discredited by researchers, since only one of the six patients observed actually lost weight upon death (3/4 of an ounce). It was popular with the general public, though.

It's pretty ridiculous to assume that people with no pressure either way to believe in God will naturally decide not to. I know people who've rejected their family's religion but still ended up with some sort of theistic belief.
