I think Portugal have been quite lucky with the teams they got in the group and in the knock-outs. They've been lucky to avoid the likes of Spain, Italy , Germany and France. I think the final will be their first real test. I hope their manager doesn't park the bus again. It can be a bit shit watching a team play a 10 man defense. I was disappointed Holland didn't qualify, I can't remember a tournament they weren't involved in.

Yeah, we definitely got pretty lucky with the teams. Only proper team we faced was Hungary, IMO. I just think it's pretty funny how everybody kept saying Portugal was going to lose against whatever team they were going to face against, but somehow we always found a way to win.
Don't quote me on this, but apparently the portuguese head coach mentioned how he deliberately wanted the team to do just enough to win. Wouldn't surprise me - he coached Greece in 2010, and we all know what happened to Portugal when they faced Greece in Euro 2004. I guess he learned something from their old tactics

I wouldn't write off any team that has world class players like Ronaldo, Pepe and Nani. That's 3 European Cup winners there. Will Pepe be fit for the final? I'm not sure how badly injured he is.

Fuck you all, today germany is playing. Please take a seat and quietly accept a Heil Hitler. If we lose I will refrain from posting here for at least one hour. That is my promise. If you are not for germany we will invade you. Period.

@Shokew Asshole Lol, but this is sports (just kidding).

I missed the Portugal - Wales game...

I'm sorry Wales lost - that's all I have to say about that, after watching the highlights of it all.

I'm sure Portugal will get destroyed in the Final. I have no doubts about that much, especially if it's Germany that goes through to face them!

If it's France, it'll be a close game, I'm sure - but not with Germany. Sorry. Nope.

Portugal are quite strong defensively and they have enough upfront to cause any defense problems. It won't be an easy game for France.

All I know is that Germany embarrassed themselves, today. UGH.

I knew Wales wouldn't make it to the Final, but Germany? Oh man!!

This is going to be a Final to remember, come Sunday. But not for the best of reasons, in my opinion.

Watching the final, France v Portugal.

Cristiano Ronaldo did his drama llama act when tackled in the 7th minute and he is now coming off and crying.

Such delicious salt.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but deliberately tackling someone to injure him might be worthy of a red card.

It might be, but I don't think it was like that. No studs up, played the ball and not the man, etc.

Also even if it was Ronaldo is a specialist in crying wolf so a referee may have been skeptical.

I watched the replay. He literally hit Ronaldo. Plus, I'm sure he was skeptical that one time with Quaresma too. And all those times Éder got hit. Skeptical, yeah. Just call the referee shit like he is. By the way, thanks for the cup mate.

Well, Portugal won the cup. Humiliated France at home. No miracle 1-1. No inept referee to save France. The moths chose us.

A little celebration music, since I know you kiwis loved Portugal's intense offensive play throughout the Euro:

Oh hey, and it looks like @Shokew was right. The final will be one to remember, for the wrong reasons. The final where Portugal, without the star player, defeated France in their own home. While the frogs attempted to literally cripple the team at any opportunity.

Real talk. Were it not for our goalie, Rui Patricio, I'm pretty sure we would've gotten destroyed in the first part, when France dominated the game (and cheated as if their game depended on it. Which it kind of did). The man was unstoppable today.

Anyways, back to the smug banter. If France's cheating murderball ass couldn't stop a bunch of lazy spics, imagine if they played properly! Why, we could've finished the game in the first 90 minutes.

That was a pretty boring final. A lot of people have been complaining about Portugal's defensive play. If you're not good enough to break down a solid defense then you don't deserve to win. I'm always happy to see a team win a big prize for the first time. Portugal have been up there loads of times getting to plenty of finals, semis and quarters. Would like to see them do the same again in 2 years and win the big one.

Fuck France, cheating froggie bastards. I'll never forget Tierry Henry's blatant handball putting the Republic of Ireland out a few years back. That handball cost the ROI their place in the World Cup so get it right up you France.

You think the French are bad? Did you see Holland in 2010?

(That game was fucking amazing by the way!)

Oh fuck, I'd forgot about that one. That was brutal, he can't even say he was going for the ball. I can't remember if he got sent of for that or even a booking. You're from England, what you doing up this early?

The worst one I've ever seen was this one from the World Cup in 1982. German goalie didn't even get a yellow card for it and they ended up beating France:

He only got a yellow for it, I would have straight redded him for that!

As for why I'm up? I work nights.

Alcohol helps. ;)

LOL, a wee joint before bed for me. What's your night shift hours? I work 10pm to 8am. It's not a bad set up because it's a 36 hour contract so we work 4 ten hour shifts a week and get 3 days off. Better money on the night shift too.

Back to football: My team had an embarrassing result tonight in the Champions League qualifier. Beaten by a team from Gibraltar. Not good when your team gets beat by a team you've never even heard of. Think we should manage the home win though, they only won 1-0. The odds on Celtic winning were about 1/10.
