I'm curious, did Alex ever show any actual proof that he ever studied programming for YEARS at all? Cause if he didn't and he is trying to make a game like this then he is even more delusional than i thought.
I've never seen any evidence of him doing any sort of education in between the Gaia years (when he was still homeschooled) and today, in all likelihood he's just gathered little bits and pieces of information from the internet about how code works. If he had actually taken any sort of programming/game design course, surely someone at some point would've told him that you're supposed to consider how your ideas would work from a code standpoint before you just go throwing things in all willy-nilly.

who the hell is the large majority that is still paying him to work on his meme game? It certainly can’t be the 12 year-olds right?
Most of them probably are, but the 22 people donating $100 a month baffle me. I can't imagine the average kid having a consistent monthly income over $100. So presumably, 22 adults are donating $100 a month still, even though more people in the community are questioning the game, the first rival is over a year late, the YanDev X TinyBuild boat looks like it's sinking, and Alex suddenly changed the conditions of his $5k goal without fulfilling the old condition for years.

Are they not paying attention? Are they perhaps too afraid to pull support because then they'd feel like they're admitting the project won't finish?

Well, if this got released on Steam who says that YS can't?
"High School Simulator." Yeesh, they couldn't come up with something more original or fitting?
"Please enjoy high school life in Japan." Ah yes, I forgot how in Japan students walk around with spears.
Even something as cheesy and naff as "Blood Drizzle High School 2000XX" would've been a better title. At least you'd get the gist of what the game is about.

I’m just wondering one thing.

Why would you try to make a game if you don’t have any programming knowledge?!?

If a bunch of YouTubers didn’t play YS and give it popularity it didn’t deserve, I wonder if Alex would’ve thrown in the towel or continued trying to make his buggy, poorly coded game.

So, here's some current stats on his Patreon:

These are his current sponsors that show ingame, which by the way, have lessened dramatically over the years:

I've also noticed while checking the game, there's mention of some help in the credits, but the last time they were mentioned on blog was December 16, 2016.

I've emailed them asking if they're still working with or helping Alex. I'll update whenever they answer, but their blog was last updated on August 1, 2016, so I don't know if I'll be getting an answer soon or at all.

Is complex really the solution here? I think the game benefited from the fact that it was simple, I don't think that having complicated character motivations will do any good, unless someone seriously tried to make a legit story out of it, which I find harder is to succeed. The deep lore is what causes most of the problems with the current story, going back to the basics would be best.

Regarding patreon...
I myself know how easy it is to support a creator and forget that several dollars are withdrawn every month. To top that off, the amount of kids who begin their bank accounts by the age of 14 has increased dramatically over the years. Alongside that we see ignorant parents who hand their cards over for apps/games without a glance and the mob mentality Alex's weird-ass fans exhibit.. (still having nightmares about that cringe-factory fan asking Alex about preferred sexual positions for his characters..) Its a sad formula for manipulation and taking advantage of the weak.

When it comes to the $100 supporters, it is comprised of super-fans who became overwhelmed with someone who appears at a glance, superficially and on the surface, to be a modest and somewhat underfunded indie developer.. people who are extremely ignorant to how disturbed and fraudulent Yandere Simulator really is. (I think a lot of us started out as casual fans until we looked further into how clearly disgusting this man is.. it's horribly easy to stay ignorant to the truth.)

It's immensely clear by now that Yandere Sim's staunchest patreon supporters are either lonely, horny children or impeccably clueless adults who really don't care what they're throwing their money away on.

Either way, fucking sad.

Even then, isn't Ayano supposed to be a Yandere? Devoid of all emotion and personality until she gets with Senpai? Even after she is "completed" by being with him, isn't her sole purpose for existing to cater to him?

I didn't realize that more and more kids are getting bank accounts earlier in life. That is another good point. Those few dollars every month add up quickly, and the kids probably don't realize how much money they are truly spending. They think "Oh, $3 isn't that bad, it's pocket money!" But after a year that adds up to $36. Multiply that by 3 years and that's $108 per kid. For an unfinished debug sandbox that can't run on most computers.

Those kids’ $3 could have been used for something much more useful. Like, y’know? A good fuckin VPN?

isn't Ayano supposed to be a Yandere
A yandere is supposed to be a character that seems loving and gentle, and does act like that at first, until their devotion becomes violent and possessive. At best, Ayano is yangire.
(On a side note, there is a condition that has the same behavior as a yandere, called "Obsessive love". Similarly, there's also a disorder called erotomania. )

They also have emotions.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this recently, but Alex doesn't really know what a Yandere actually is.
When called out on it, he told everyone that his emotionless robot was his "special, unique" type of Yandere and part of "teh magical Aishi bludline".

If I'm seeing things right, there's only one original sponsor left. Who were they anyway? Their logos on the first screen are way too similar to each other, though it could be just to make them look cohesive.
Also, does the shade of pink vary between the screens? How can you fuck this up?

I've suspected for a while that a lot of these "sponsors" never actually existed.

Imagine living in a world where pre-teens give away part of their allowances en masse monthly to a near 30 year old man who uses it to buy anime bodypillows and other assorted weeb garbage.

Either they never really existed and were just puppets Alex used to appear more popular, or they did exist and his sponsors either got tired of waiting for Alex to stop jerking off to hentai and make progress on the game, or they realized what a creep he is and buggered off (or joined here). The real sad thing is that, knowing Alex, both of these are equally plausible.

As far as characterisation is concerned, Ayano is a character from Crush Crush and Yandere Simulator is a game being made by a fan. A very lazy fan

I'd say Ayano-chan-desu should be slurping like her creator.
A more appropriate suggestion
