I haven't seen this posted (and it wasn't archived), but Alex has interacted with the creator of Iji.

I'm not trying to discourage you, just saying that you shouldn't rush into a project like this, or you'll end up unhappy with the result. I'm not trying to discourage setting your sights high, rather the opposite - setting higher goals for each new game is a healthier and more realistic approach than starting from the top.

That's two game developers that told Eva to stop plagiarism. No wonder he made YanSim, and STILL steals from people.

Let's be honest, though. If we're talking hypothetical ways to improve the game, then taking Eva into account is utterly futile because everything he touches turns to shit. We'd be better off hoping that one of the many "make YanSim but better" groups use our feedback to improve their output.

>Lurked sometimes for game design ideas

Jk, but to be honest, most of the ideas you guys give are pretty interesting, though perhaps not 100% compatible because the game isnt just a yansim copy, but the premise of said game mechanic can be used.

Not gonna lie, the dialogue between the little Zora and the man was cringe as fuck.

And Alex reading it made it even fucking worse.

Also is that what he calls his shitty ideas? "Pushing the boundries of taboo in video games."?

I prefer to call them re.tarded ass decisions that nobody wants.

Haven't gotten my Switch yet so I didn't know about this. Pretty cringy though. But Eva's voice in this is worse than usual. I bet this is what he sounds like when he's sperging to himself over girls that won't pay attention to him or Chad Thundercock getting all the prime vag. No wonder he's forever alone.

Why? Apparently some of his fans are female. If he's that desperate he could just invite them over.

Wow, only after nine hundred times of pointing it out did Eva finally change the stolen street assets.

And that mirror. Oh boy. Mirrors are such a huge pain in the ass to make in video games these days that even triple A studios with large budgets struggle with them, so I don't even want to imagine how he made it.

There are multiple cheap ways to do it in some engines. Some basically have the mirror be a window into another cell where a clone of you is, so when you walk in front of the mirror, you are looking at your clone. Actions performed in front of the mirror will be coded to be mimicked by the clone as well, who is essentially on rails in a reversed version of your game cell so they can mimic all your actions with a decent degree of realism to give the illusion of an actual reflection.

The original Deus Ex utilized something similar to this for their mirrors, but it was imperfect since doing something like a melee attack would have a delay pause to it so your reflection would swing a second or so after you did.

I'm not sure if Unity supports those methods, I'll have to ask, but I don't think Eva knows of them.

Dude Seks was also made back in the day when mirrors weren't as demanding on resources as they are now.

Perhaps you can just use a rendertarget as material and then put a camera behind the mirror (also if it is needed, let the camera ignore the mirror mesh)

Thats basically how a simple minimap is set up.

I doubt that game developers ask Shigeru Miyamoto for permission before building platform game engines. I doubt that Daniel Remar asked the pioneers of the stat-building game mechanic if it was okay to use their idea in Iji.

I'm a Game Maker novice who created this .gmk file in 4 days. Anyone else with a few hours of Game Maker experience and an understanding of how variables work can do the same. I haven't done anything outstanding or remarkable that can't be recreated without a half-week of time and effort. This isn't some kind of major leak that instantly destroys Remar's four years of effort. It's a pet project and I'm only here to ask for help because I'm too much of a newb to get past the minor hurdles I outlined above. My very presence here is an indication of my inexperience - and if I could get this far, surely 50% of the userbase here could do the same within a week's time.

Goodness gracious. It's not as though I right-clicked Iji.exe and selected "Steal Source Code". I built everything from the ground up. Everything in that .gmk - barring the sprites and the free platform engine I used - is my own code, my own work. There is nothing wrong with posting my own creation. Yes, I'm modeling my engine after Iji's - just like every game engine out there is an offshoot of something pre-existing. Yes, I used Remar's sprites as temporary placeholders for convenience. That doesn't mean I'm trying to rip off Iji.

I love how this paragraph perfectly summarizes everything about how Alex talks and acts.

You start reading it and think he is a nice guy, the victim here, an inexperienced dev just trying to make a fun and harmless game all by himself!... But then you reach the end where he says "Yes, i did steal the sprites and mechanics from this game but that doesn't mean i'm trying to rip off the game!" and you laugh at the hipocrisy.

So Eva admits his work is rushed, unremarkable, and mediocre?

I guess maybe he figures it's better if he says it instead of people coming here and reading it, replete with all his other dirty cum crusted laundry.

"Look at how self depreciating I am, I'm totally rolling with the punches! Don't listen to those haters and their so called 'facts.' Thank you for following the development of fet--Yandere Simulator. *SLURP*"

Too bad people find his threads here and on PULL more interesting. And the fact that he plays himself with statements like that.
