Ah, the Kickstarter. Part of me expects that date to be when this project crashes. I'm just curious as to who in their right mind would pay to play the mess.
Let's assume that there will be a reward tier where you can get a copy of YanSim. People who've been supporting Alex on Patreon for a while probably won't pay for that, because their money has been supposedly going into the game already, and a lot of them have already paid much more than the reward tier. Other than that, most of the fanbase are young and don't have their own income yet. The only reason this 'game' is accessible to them is because it's free. If it ever released, they'd just pirate it.
This will either be the most hyped-up failed Kickstarter, or it will succeed (:optimistic::optimistic::optimistic:) but the rewards will never be delivered.

IF (and that's a big IF) the kickstarter ever comes, i'm betting Alex will say Kickstarter is just another form of "donation" and that he doesn't owe us anything, and then he disappears with the money never to be seen again.

One of the major issues with Kickstarter is that so many people DO that. Unless he can bring forth actual professionals (artists, actors, and sound designers) who would have interest in the game, there's little chance he's going to get the kind of funds he needs to make this game the way he says it's going to be. $150000 is only thirty months of his Patreon bucks, and in more than thirty months, this is all he has to show.

I mean, I want the Kickstarter to fail and for Eva to look like an idiot, but the fact that this guy has been consistently receiving heaps of Patreon cash for a while now shows that there are people willing to throw money down even though so little progress has been demonstrated. There is also still a substantial fanbase who purely watch the Youtube videos and know nothing about Eva other than the facade he portrays of the hard-working dev. Most of them will know nothing about game development, so the consistent videos make them think that the game is making good progress even though the bulk of what is talked about or shown is vapid filler shit or easter eggs.

So all Eva has to do is put out a few Youtube videos to peddle the Kickstarter as much as possible, and with the help of a few big Youtubers who need dumb buggy shit like Yansim to play to make their next 10min cash-grab video, I think it will probably get funded. Of course he will competely underdeliver though, prolonging the development and avoiding getting a real job for as long as possible.

We might get some juicy content here though when he starts flaking on Kickstarter reward promises.

Unlikely, since that would require Alex to get a job afterwards. Also, there's no way he'd save all that KickStarter money and not spend it on weeb trash (in case he tries to live on that money).

He'll probably try to start a new project under a new name when he runs out of money, while trying to slowly turn it into his last project so he doesn't have to make new ideas, like when he ditched Lunar Scythe for Yandere Simulator.

But is giving the money back enforced/required? Haven't a lot of people just run off with Kickstarter money? I know he wouldn't do the right thing.
Alex can only run off with the money if the goal is met (backers are not charged until then) so if the goal is not met it would break Alex's heart to see the potential cash not go into his bank account. I have not used kickstarter but that is my basic understanding of how the site works, so correct me if I'm wrong

*also kickstarter doesn't make people refund backers if a project is shit or a scam, this is why people can run off with the money

Indiegogo has a type of campaign where all money donated goes to the creator regardless of whether the goal was met. Unless they give refunds for scam projects, Alex might look into that too.

Aside from that, I'm not sure about crowdfunding sites' policies, but is it possible that the YanSim campaign gets shut down early on, like how Twitch banned streaming the game? The content hasn't really lightened up since then. (Has it changed at all? Has there been any new non-filler content since January?) And the concept is only getting darker, what with Pizza Arms guy and his human trafficking, and Ayano convincing people to commit murder.

There's also GoFundMe, which allow unlimited donation length, just in case Alex thinks he's not going to meet his goal on Indiegogo or Kickstarter and hurt his own ego.
