Speaking of placeholders, I thought he wanted to get new models for them? He's concentrating a lot on enslaving others into making "placeholder" hairs and clothes if he's still thinking about it.
While we're at it, only "rival" in game right now is Kokona. She has a ready cutscene, a story and voiced lines. She won't be in the final game. Why did he spent so much time on a place-holder, with an actual story tied to her? Musume was added to the game, because of Kokona. What will Alex do with that whole story? If he tries to use it for a different character, people following the progress will notice. Especially when the previous versions are up to download. Also, it shows how not ready Osana is yet. He probably doesn't have a befriend/betray route complete yet. If he did, he would spoil it. Did we have any footage of it?

This all talk about nicknames reminds me of a manga I read that has all the characters named after their personality traits. The sicko obsessive violent bitch has the word "yandere" on her name, the bland protagonist is literally called "just a guy" and this one character is named Osana Najimi. But unlike Alex, the author was not incompetent and had a legitimate reason for that. For example, the well-executed Osana is the childhood friend of everyone in the town. It's over the top and embraces it, and what a surprise, it works out. Seeing stuff like this reminds me that you can make everything even a moderate success if you give even a second of a thought into it.

(:offtopic:story is "Komi-san wa komyushou desu" for anyone wondering)

Of course it’s possible to make something full of cliches as an artistic statement, it happens all the time. If you really look at the high beloved FLCL, the entire thing is a commentary on every generic anime from the 90’s. They even made the edgy nihilist main character an elementary schooler to point out how weird it is that high school kids are seen as normal, and often sexualized protagonists etc etc.

But Alex isn’t doing any of this for artistic merit. He’s just bad at writing, bad at naming, and most likely has no concept of satire. He probably thinks A Modest Proposal was a serious essay

Wait, what? I know Eva is a fan of stealing assets, but is the entire plot plagiarized? This can't be a coincidence; what you just summed up is extremely similar to the game's current plot, even including the exact same name of "Osana Najimi." Digging into "Komi-san wa komyushou desu," thanks for posting.

Well, Osana Najimi is the Japanese translation of "childhood friend", so it's conceivable that they'd both use it to parody a typical anime character. I wouldn't be surprised if the rest is stolen though (or as Alex says,"""inspired him""").

It's probably just that Yandere Simulator is so focused around bland tropes that it'd sound extremely similar to anything else using those tropes for whatever reason.

I really don't think this is a coincidence. I think @GravityBeliever just accidentally struck some gold. I think Eva read a manga and decided to plagiarize it into a game. Think about it: he does this a TON. He'll play a game or watch an anime or something, and within hours is trying to add some autistic, unfitting shit into the game that makes zero sense. One time he even posted a video about adding a fighting/combat system or something simply because he had gotten into Yakuza. Plagiarizing a manga he read therefore isn't hard to believe; obviously he has taken numerous assets without permission (from shit like Miku Miku dance) and some of the original creators even got on him for it (such as for an old grass texture he stole). My guess is that nobody has noticed so far. All other assets that aren't are stolen are store-bought, and the only thing Eva has contributed is spaghetti code. I was under the impression that at least the plot was his own autistic creation, but even that may be stolen. The rabbit hole goes deep.

I really don't think this is (((pure coincidence))), enough research could possibly reveal that the entirety of the game is plagiarized minus the spaghetti code.

Is there even a plot to be accused of being stolen? Girl meets boy, goes crazy with passion, murders ever other girl around him. That’s basically every 15 year old girl’s first fan fiction after two guys with a brother-like rivalry banging each other on the basketball court

YS was in the works a bit before Komi was published, let alone scanlated, so I doubt it. Also, I doubt he has the attention span to read a manga, or the mental faculties to realize that it's a gag manga that's not meant to be taken (entirely) seriously in the first place.

The 'yandere in school setting' has already been in a lot of media by the time he pitched his game on /v/, so it's no surprise in that sense that he probably took a lot of things from the likes of School Days and Mirai Nikki without regard for why certain elements were the way they were. In essence, what he did was just mash a bunch of what he likes in anime and games as well as some things /v/ suggested for asspats at the time, and is now held together by duct tape and a shallow understanding of those same anime and games that, ironically, he spends an abnormal amount of time on.

You're right. He may have been "inspired" by the name/character of Osana if he read the manga, but his yandere game concept does predate the manga. Sorry guys.

The nicknames also remind me of "please tell me Galko chan" but Galko-chan is about how first impressions and stereotyping aren't everything hence nicknames like "otako "(otaku)

alex watched that, musume was originally just galko

This has been mentioned before, but the crappy "pun" names aren't the only problem. Alex also took a lot of the names from two different babynamewizard lists, and just took two names from the list, and made that a name.
Japanese Girls Names: Most Popular Names for Girls in Japan (2012)
Japanese Boys Names: Most Popular Names for Boys in Japan (2012)
Female students:
Yui Rio- First and second
Yuna Hina- Third and fourth
Koharu Hinata- Fifth and sixth
Mei Mio- Seventh and eighth
Saki Miyu- Ninth and tenth
Kokona Haruno- Eleventh and twelth

Male students:
Haruto Yuto- First and second
Sota Yuki- Third and fourth
Hayato Haruki- Fifth and sixth
Ryusei Koki- Seventh and eighth
Sora Sosuke- Ninth and tenth
Riku Soma- Eleventh and twelth
EDIT: The reason why this was mentioned again, was to further illustrate how lazy Alex is, and how little he seems to care about his project. He couldn't be bothered to put any effort into giving the characters actual surnames.

we'll have characters with legit japanese names

That's the worst part in my eyes. It kills me that sometimes he actually makes legitimate names (Kamenaga Kuroko, Shan Miyuji) by being a lazy asshole who throws words together. Names for characters can be used to do and say so much for the story, and anime and manga run with that all the time! Shiina in Narutaru, Yuno in Miraii Nikki, it goes on. And it doesn't even take nearly as much effort as his bullshit roundabout methods making 'authentic-sounding' crap, because then he wouldn't have to bend over backwards trying to explain they're just nicknames you guys stop picking on meeeeeeee.

And this doesn't even get into the kanji spelling of names, like Kameko (her nickname) from Denki-gai's spelling is カメ子, which is Japanese for camera, but the last symbol is the kanji for "child", so it's like a pun. chinks fuckin love kanji puns.
But since alex is but a simple weeb, so he doesn't know any kanji or how to make puns with them.
