Correct me if I’m wrong (and excuse me generalizing stuff based off of articles and wikipedia stuff I’ve read) but sex isn’t that big of a issue as lgbt topics to the japanese.
It’s not like they’re raging homophobes like the sterotypical conservative christians are back in the states but they prefer queer people to keep their queerness behind close doors. They just don’t want a very public discussion about how a person likes people with the same gentails or something (and a prestigious japanese school’s going to be very uncomfortable with the scooby character wearing a dog coller and being semi open with his fetish) tho imo it just seems like the way he’s writing Scooby is like those class clown guys in high school that’ll say the most outragerous shit just to get people to laugh so I think it’s just suppose to be dumb shit kids say at that age. I’m not defending it or trying to make excuses for Alex’s “writing” and “characterization” but I feel like we’re reading too much into a character ((and alex cause I don’t think he thought out the implications of that)) making a stupid joke.

Unlike Youtube and Reddit, people on Tumblr mainly care about the characters, not the gameplay itself. There's a bunch of RP blogs, [insert character and insert sexuality/gender] blog and a lot of gay shipping, headcanons and posts praising Alex. Despite some anti blogs and occasional complains(mostly trivial shit), I would say this is one of the more satisfied part of his fanbase and is quite big.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Alex needs a guy to bounce his ideas off. A guy who can tell him "No, that's stupid. It doesn't contribute to the game at all".
How much do we know about the Saikou family by now? How much of that is so plot essential, it can't just be replaced by "Megami is from a rich family and she's student council president because her family is rich"? More importantly, how much do we know about Osana? At this point we know more about Megami's grandfather, a side character that most likely will never appear in the game, than the very first rival of the game.
I may be speculating too much here, but it almost feels like Alex has gotten sick of Yandere Simulator and instead tries to write a different game while writing Yandere Simulator. This may explain all the disjointed shit like the Yakuza, the Saikou Family and all the emphasis on everything that isn't Osana.

If this is what the future brings, I'll have mixed feelings over it. On the one hand, seeing a game dev spiral into insanity is always sad. On the other hand, it's also fun and Alex more or less brought it unto himself. Let's hope he'll at least serve as a warning to future indie devs to not bite off more than you can chew.
If people want to critique him and have an impact they should stop making bloated videos, that two hour documentary "the rise and fall of YandereDev" along with the growing trend in creating videos about YandereDev don't seem to get that.
To make things worse, when some videos reference tinyBuild having left the project or any other claims originating from the farms they don't site any evidence posted here, so they misrepresent the point making their video weak.

After ripping off numerous characters and getting away with it, his fans have only started noticing/caring with the Scooby gang? Looks like Alex should stay away from nostalgia if he wants to pass his rippoffs off.
He's not going to be happy that another one of his ideas is getting panned, especially one that's been in the works like this. I say he's just going to do what he did with the beaten up mini game and try to sneak these in later, rather than try to change his "amazing" idea.

On the topic of Japaneses ~quweer~ culture, Japan isn't as backward as you may think. This is borderline off-topic, so I guess I'll put it under a cut.
I think the one thing that stands in the way legally is the fact that Japan has one political party with the majority of the power, and it's a conservative one. The problem is that the other parties are all trash (hurr durr, let's kick the US military out while also not abolishing the law that prevents Japan from getting a full-fledged military) so voting for the Liberal Democratic Party is the only thing you can do.
On TV, there are quite a lot of openly gay drag queens and trans women. One of the more successful TV personalities is a drag queen that goes by Matsuko Deluxe. She has so many of her own TV shows and is definitely thriving in the Japanese entertainment industry, which is no small feat.
LGBT issues (among others like mental illness) are discussed on educational channels, sometimes evening variety shows, as well. It seemed like good stuff to me.
One time on the afternoon news, they were talking about how progressive Tokyo is becoming thanks to an LGBT group iirc. Some stores apparently have those little we support the LGBT type of stuff on the counter, and the news also mentioned this one shoe store that carries larger sizes of women's shoes specifically for trans women.
I can imagine it being be bad in a rural area, though, much like shitty mental health professionals there.
I don't know much of the LGBT scene in Japan, but I don't recall hearing any special snowflake stuff.

Sukubi, with his answers, sounds like a kid who doesnt care about what others think so he says whatever he thinks is funny or cringey at the moment.
So he ends up being more 'I dont care what others think about me' than deliquents. Sounds legit.
Velma is described as the most hardworking person in the whole school, and yet Photography Club members are described as the most laid-back people in the whole school. Sounds legit.
I really like the idea of stalkers, but not executed in this lazy way. It would be much better if someone started their own, secret investigation, suspected you and thus decided to stalk you - and you wouldnt know it. Imagine killing someone and getting a game over because someone reported you with supporting evidence. Like Nemesis coming after you, only way sneakier and hitting you after the day ends. It would make you, as a player, much more paranoid and cautious about killing anyone, because who knows if their brother/sister/best friend will start stalking you?
Right now the stalker personalities in YS are the cheap 'fuck now I have to restart my game' mechanic. What can you do about them if their code makes them know where youre going no matter how fast you are?
