The reaction to this character is like a case study in these people not giving a shit about "representation" of any other member of the LGBT community that isn't a lesbian. The clown I screenshottedhad the audacity to bitch that there is only one canon lesbian in Homestuck? There's plenty of f/f relationships and female characters attracted to women. Trolls are, in fact, a binormative culture so it can be reasonably assumed that like all of the lady trolls introduced in troll call are "wlw".

But nope. Not enough. They don't count because they are not ~full lesbian~. And male LGBT people are right out. (There's only one "confirmed gay" male character in Homestuck too. So complaints that lesbians are somehow being treated unequally is particularly delusional).

The character was confirmed to be trans, so in addition to Intensifying the Discourse it turned the tide of tumblr opinion against the the people having a fit that Lanque wasn't the precious lesbian that they wanted. Because you cant really claim you care about representation when you are pouting about the only binary trans troll not being a lesbian after having spent months declaring that literally every other female troll to be introduced was a lesbian. It's not only massively entitled (which I imagine tumblr would be okay with if the character was cis) but transparently greedy as well.

im telling yall, a large part of tumblr's obsession with lesbians isnt an obsession with women, its an obsession with MEN
they dont love lesbians because they enjoy women loving other women, but the idea that these women ARENT loving men

and was the guy really confirmed trans? i didnt see anything abt it on whatpumpkin's tumblr? is there a source?

It really is. The amount of times they mention how their lesbian idols don't love men and how lesbo they are is really telling. As well as their denial of any female character being bisexual because ick that includes men! It's the same with female characters too, they never shut up about them 'smashing the patriarchy grrr!' rather than just them as characters.

ive noticed that when i see a male character headcanoned as gay its because the person has someone who they wanna ship them in mind
but when people headcanon female characters as gay it comes from no where, usually because the character is ALREADY dating or has dated a man. they dont care who they date, just not a man. theyll toss em with any character. theyll give em ten girlfriends, half of which are background characters that have never even seen this character, just... anything but a man

Even when they go out of their way to show how much they don't care about men, they care about men.

Which beggars the question about how they'd react if you told them that:
1) Cishet dudebros love them some lesbian orgies, weeb or not.
2) They're behaving exactly like Dobson, who worships lesbians and is a "dirty male."

Eh, I can see where they're coming from on this one. Lesbian (and LGBT-centric stories as a whole) being saturated with tragedy and angst gets boring and makes it seem like that's all there is to being LGBTQ. But it's not like what OP wants doesn't exist, here's OP is getting recs for them.

the issue is that the only films that can be considered LGBT+ films have to CENTER around the subject of LGBT+ people in real life, and of course many of em are gonna be dramas [since, i admit, we do have a lack of LGBT characters in any other genre. thats why "movies WITH lgbt characters" are p much synonymous with "lgbt movies"] and many dramas have angst. seriously, how many straight dramas do u know that dont have angst? how many straight dramas have half of the couple dying?
its only a problem because LGBT movies have to be LABELED as LGBT movies and can only center around this one topic, so theres more focus on it, as opposed to if lgbt people could just be normalized and appear in any movie of any genre. but we cant have that, can we? people dont wanna normalize lgbt people, i have a feeling we as a society kinda wanna keep em abnormal

That'd also be transphobic, I think? There's no real tactful way of trying to headcanon a trans man as a he/him lesbian, since a lot of trans men spend time considering themselves as some type of lesbian.

If it's a radfem doing it, they won't care if it's transphobic.

Those who aren't transphobic will just fuss and complain but ultimately not do anything.

How exceptional is it in the first place though to have a trans man who wears makeup and looks feminine? Most dysphoric trans people try and actually pass as the gender they see themselves in, that’s kind of the whole point of even being trans, otherwise you might as well just be a he/him lesbian.
 
For some reason I thought that Cohen (or whoever the creator is) was a trans man. Or a "trans man", if he thinks that means "being as effeminate as possible". No real clue though.
