I do need to namedrop again The Room, Fateful Findings, Battlefield Earth, Birdemic, Samurai Cop and Disaster Movie as, again, the respective filmmakers were at least trying to make movies, even if the final products of either ended up being terrible. Studios nowadays can't even try to make a good movie with any sort of idea anymore. They have to reboot or adapt from an existing IP.

2010s was a prime example of how many movies, coming out are nothing more than things based off intellectual IPs, especially capeshit, and the majority of them became top 10 box office hits worldwide every year since. Let's face it, the 2008 Iron Man movie ruined a whole generation of the film industry, and not just capeshit either.
Just made me realize why Hollywood has rushed out to make a bunch of "Based on a True Story" movies about famous products. I'm sure I'll forget a few but we've got:
>Tetris
>Air Jordans
>Beanie Babies - BTW the studio was too cheap to get the rights to use actual Beanie Babies so the actors are holding generic stuffed animals)
>Blackberry - This one was actually pretty solid but I'll watch a movie/show if Glenn Howerton is a lead
>Flaming Hot Cheetos

Why are they doing this and all these movies came out in this year? Because like Comic Books they the basic story is already written out. All Hollywood has to do is "punch it up" by adding drama to the script. Best yet these types of movies are affordable. The entertainment ultimately is a reflection of the whims of the audience. We appearently want safe, boring nostalgia.

The thing with nostalgia is that many viewers are hoping to avoid being beat over the head with BLM or troon rights, which is almost guaranteed with anything set less than ten years ago.

Also, cheap programming has always been the visual media's default. You can spend $100 000 000 per episode on an epic, gloriously produced fantasy sci fi series, or you can dump a couple dozen attractive randoms on a desert island with some cameramen for $100 000 an episode. The epic fantasy sci fi will bring in a shitton money if it succeeds, but will bankrupt you and drive you out of the profession forever if it flops. The desert island reality show no one cares about either way, but at least it will only cost you in the hundreds of thousands, not the millions, if it fails.

And also shit like gun control, abortions, Stop Asian Hate or Stand for Ukraine, among other stupid bullshit

I just want another series of movies like LotR. Is that too much to ask for?

If true that's almost 1/3 of it's current theatres dropping it in just a fortnight, and on a weekend no less. It's also been announced that it's digital release has been moved forward from September to July 18th, meaning it'll only be in theatres for a month. Lol. LMAO even doesn't even begin to cover it

And on a holiday weekend, too! LMAO indeed

They should have just shit canned the movie and used it as a tax write off but keep going down in flames, Hollywood.

WB may have shitcanned Batgirl a year ago (thank god), but they should've cancelled The Flash.

As a much better DC movie once said.

I wonder if having Michael Keaton Batman was part of the reason that they did not shitcan it altogether. They were really banking on that nostalgia and trivia buffs in this film, from Michael Keaton Batman having a significant role to deepfake cameos of Christopher Reeve etc, especially after all the Ezra Miller shitshow. Hell, Michael Keaton Batman is in the trailers; he was clearly supposed to be a sell for the movie. I had to see this piece of shit in theaters with family(thankfully I've seen so many movies this month that AMC all but paid me to see it), and I definitely heard some *fanboy gasps* during the worlds colliding scene in the climax. Those are the only ones I know of that have sucked this movie's dick so far. Everything else has been memes and "this fucking sucked."

I think it was that it cost over 200 million and they thought they could get asses in seats with Keaton memberberries and whatever value the DCEU still had.

Seeing Keaton in the batsuit in the trailer just made me sad. That A) he agreed to do it and B) movies are so bad they resort to this kind of shit.

I don't blame him. He got paid and I'm sure that -on paper- it seemed like a decent idea at the time and give his Batman some decent closure. How could he have known how bad it would get? He doesn't have the power to say "Remove the pedo or I walk."

Yea it's one of the many rare instances where I just feel sorry for WB in this situation. Keaton in the two Tim Burton movies is obviously one of the most recognizable people in the bat suit, and yet WB put their own promotions towards him than the groomer pedo star of the movie as the titular Barry Allen character, but WB didn't know exactly what to do, because even they knew it was a mess.
