Question: it has been said China is a country Phil favours. My experience with Chinese who are still learning English is that they tend to mis-gender a bit due to a translation issue. What does Philly do in such a situation?
Phil's concept of China consists entirely of some shitty anime with anthropomorphic countries and a romanticized view of Maoism. It's not so much favor as it is blind idealization; orientalism in every sense of the word.

I'm sure that if he encountered a situation like the one you described, the Chinese-Australatinians would be next on the chopping block.

Mandarin doesn't have gendered pronouns just "ta" for someone other than you or me. I get referred to as "she" or "Miss [redacted]" all the time.

It should probably be mentioned somewhere that ADF's 'slave number' is registered to 'Amaterasu' and 'Xochitla'. These aren't real people but rather two of his 'headmates', his imaginary multiple personalities. When he gets all shackled up in his bondage gear by himself, it's because he wants people to think he's having a bdsm experience with his imaginary friends.

Not quite true, there are different pictograph equivalents for "he" and "she" but they both have the same pronunciation (i.e. "ta" as you say).

Those different pictographs are still only a fairly recent invention. I doubt they're even a century old.

Even if they weren't, when words look different in representation but are pronounced the same, it can be easy to mix them up when switching over to a new language. More so when it's a concept that doesn't even exist in your native tongue. Ever try keeping track of function markers in Japanese?

It should be noted that there's a significant bike subculture in the crowds ADF hangs around, especially in Portland. What goes through his head is only open to speculation, but I've been under the impression that it's less of an autistic fixation like trains and more of a way of trying to fit in or at least emulate a culture he wants to be a part of. If you're lucky enough to not know many west coasters, stupid bike tattoos are more common than you'd probably imagine. The fact that his inability to ride a bike hasn't kept him from permanently grafting bike shit all over himself is what's funny about it, especially in the likely case that this is just a passing interest in a fad.

He's not anything. He's just a little boy playing dressup.

Probably the best assessment of Phil's sexuality (or lack thereof) that I have read. It makes sense too, especially if he's autistic.

Dusty's kindness was repaid with a lack of respect for boundaries and consent, to the point where his (in Phil's words) "five dollar foot long" was grabbed. Dusty was saved from either sexual assault or having to beat up an autistic manchild when Phil's excitement at touching a real penis caused him to lose bowel control. In what could only be a bid for sainthood, Dusty did not throw him out and make him walk home, but took the sobbing mass begging for mercy and threw him in the shower. This apparently traumatized Phil so much that he can no longer shower or... "wipe"... without bring triggered.

That's possibly the most disgusting thing I've ever read...

I can't find the FB post but he recently did this "Timeline" of his "struggle and when he got to his weeaboo phase he looked back at it in utter disgust.

He really does change his interests at the drop of the hat, doesn't he? I guess it won't be too much longer before he enters an anti-Latin phase, which will be doubly hilarious with all those crude tattoos of South America and broken Spanish covering his body.

[quoteHe sperged on about how horrible anime was and that the only good thing to come of that era was his Sasuke assassinating John McCain doodle.[/quote]

THAT'S the only thing he's proud of? A shitty drawing of a children's cartoon character assassinating a presidential candidate? It fucking looks like it was drawn by a ten year old. I would think he'd be embarrassed by it.

I'd be willing to wager that he dropped whatever remaining interest in anime he had after leaving Occupy.

Wonder why. Did the Occupy movement not take his Hetalia cosplay seriously?

His obsession with China is also influenced by his obsession with Hetalia

Pretty much. Guess basing your life decisions off which anime characters you fap to isn't such a good idea.

Not that it's all that different from Weeaboos and their blind fetishization of all things Japanese.

It's not so much favor as it is blind idealization; orientalism in every sense of the word.

Well, as used in modern academia, Orientalism refers to the defining of 'the Orient' as 'the other,' specifically viewing non-western cultures as inferior, dirty, uneducated, poor, primitive, sexually perverse and decadent... ironic because that's sort of how Phil seems to view being 'Latinx.'

Also, Edward Saïd used the term Orientalism specifically when referring to Western academia's coverage of North Africa, the Middle East and (to a degree) Central and South Asia. Yes, he mostly ignored East and Southeast Asia, but hey, it does sort of anticipate Phil glomming into all Inge Palestinian...

It's equally amusing that Phil latched onto Spanish as his thing, since gender is such a big part of Spanish and indeed all Romance languages. Seriously, every noun has an explicit gender and if there is even a single male in a group it becomes masculine. Can't imagine the little mariposa would like that much.

I'm requesting the newspaper scans from ADF's mother and Angelo calling for support for their autistic son. This needs to be on the FAQ, even though it's heartbreakingly sad.

Can we get a mention of Phil having a less functioning brother in a group home. It really makes me sad imagining how hard it was for Phil's disabled mother dealing with a real special needs son and that histrionic mess they named Phil.

I'll get these added soon - but any clue where I can find that article? I think I must have overlooked it when it was posted!

Main thread around page 430 - 450 if memory serves me right.

No he is much much less functional. If I recall correctly, he can't even use silverware and had to eat with a bib.
Oh, sounds like he's profoundly intellectually disabled. I bet Phil never lifted a finger to help his mother with him. We make jokes, but Phil has at least normal intelligence, yes he's autistic, and also a sociopath, but he could take care of himself if he felt like it.
