but it was pretty greedy of Hasbro to decide to take the "highskool drama" route to cash in on the current "superimportant teenage years of our lives"fad.
The MLP cartoon franchise began its existence purely as a crass 30-minute toy commercial, same as Transformers or GI Joe, and never strayed from the plan. How could Hasbro be "greedy" for simply continuing to use their property to sell more toys and crap?

I think it's because, if anything, Lauren Faust was very good at covering up the commercialism. If you skim through her social media, she talks pretty frequently about butting heads with Hasbro, such as their insistence that Celestia be a princess, not a queen, for example.

Now, with her gone, it's starting to bubble up to the surface again.

Wind Waker is literally the only game off the top of my head I can remember from the Gamecube. It's also one of my favorites as a kid. God that game was fucking incredible.

It's an absolute corker. Thing is, 10 years down the line it's regarded as an all time classic and the art style is now universally praised, it's also made the game age brilliantly. Just goes to show that these uproars are always made by the vocal minority who just want everything they love to stay the same forever.

The hilarious thing being that every time Zelda was made more "realistic" and "mature", these same fandorks were jizzing about how it was "Zelda the way it was meant to be!!!!!" Funny that, look through ALL the art from the original NES games and tell me if it looks closer to Wind Waker or Twilight Princess.

People like this only want something to stay the same when it suits their ego. :ugeek:

I guess Chris typed this on his laptop, since there's no "Sent from my iPhone" at the end of the post.

Also, he highlighted his own post. I didn't even knew you could do that on Facebook, until I saw that little star there on his feed.

Maybe he did that so Tara Strong or whatever could easily find it

Someone should start a MLP fan project about the German Pirate Party in which all the Pirates are ponies:
Marina Weisband = Rarity
Anne Helm = Silver Spoon (she already voices her in the German dub)
Johannes Ponader = Fluttershy
etc...

The Pirates are basically a wholly stupid political party, but still a tiny bit less retarded than the other parties. And the Pirate Party girls tend to be rather hawt (google "Marina Weisband").

Sorry offtopic post but I just don't have much of an opinion on Chris's opinion on humanized highschool horses.

The real problem is a very vocal majority of Zelda fans want to compare every new release with Ocarina of Time. Wind Waker was unacceptable since there was a certain amount of betrayal involved (much like some (dumb) Mario fans with Super Mario 128, these Zelda fans thought the Gamecube demo of the final battle in Ocarina of Time would be a sure indicator of the new Zelda's graphics), in addition to new gameplay, races, and an overworld very different from Hyrule. This is why they were largely more satisfied with Twilight Princess. And why Skyward Sword was a cautious blend of old, new, and nostalgia.

I do find it a bit funny that Chris loses his shit over this which I'm sure MLP teaches against. "Don't judge a book by it's cover" and whatnot.

Hey Chris, here's an idea,
Just don't watch it.
Problem solved!
Yeah, if he loves G2 so much or whatever, why can't he just rewatch that? It's not like I can't go watch TNG again just because Voyager sucked.

G2 didn't have any video media, but G3 and 3.5 had plenty so he can go watch that I guess.

Oh for the love of...it's a freaking movie, Chris. No one is forcing you to watch it or demanding you like it. They're not even altering the main series at all, it's just a spin-off/OVA type thing. You can take it or leave it and it won't change the show canon at all. Chill out.

Chris completely fails to realize that one can ignore/not enjoy a certain part of a franchise without it ruining the franchise as a whole it seems. In his mind you either love it 100% or the world ends.

Heh, well, Chris is definitely sperging about this. But I can kinda sympathize. I was kinda ticked off when an American remake of Oldboy was announced (directed by Spike Lee, no less). I guess the difference is that I know better than to bitch publicly to my fandase (sic) of internet neckbeards who hate me. And I eventually realized that the remake might still be decent.

I'm still kinda annoyed though. (:_(

The words "american remake" attached to anything usually means sucking. And I thought this remake was cancelled already. Wasn't Will Smith involved in it at some point?

Y'know, I've heard differing things about it. I did hear things that implied the film was being canceled, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. So, hopefully the film died, but we'll see.

Last I heard the movie is still on. Principal photography started late last year and it is scheduled to be released this October. It's going to be starring Josh Brolin. Elizabeth Olson and Samuel L Jackson are also in the movie.

EDIT- Also apparently some critics went to an early rough cut screening where it got positive reviews. Surely Cole got into such an exclusive event. Surely.

I would be willing to believe this is an attempt by Hasbro to purposefully lose the unwanted attention.

I'm sorry, what? Hasbro actually likes Bronies. They LOVE Derpy Hooves. It's just that there was an outcry of people being butthurt over that pony, so they answered.

well, they created the show not thinking of manchildren, but to sell toys to little girls. so, they created this spinoff not thinking of manchildren, but to sell toys to little girls.

How much would you all say the percentage is of My Little Pony fans that are little girls vs. grown [sic] manchildren?

From the last I heard, that's not gonna happen, thank God. Will Smith was going to be in it too (no lie). But I'm pretty sure the project has been cancelled.

Also, they were going to make it closer to the manga, which would mean no
incest
element. It would certainly take the punch out of it, but could be reconceptualized in an interesting way.

Hmm. Shit. I'll have to check on that then. I've heard off and on that it was going to get re-done, then canceled, etc.

Fun fact: there already is a Bollywood version. I think they got sued by the rights owners too.

If they make it based off the manga, which is significantly different from the Korean movie, it's not technically a remake. Just don't expect the same movie, I guess.

I thought somebody on the previous forum said that Cole was banned from early screenings and is no longer a certified critic? Might not have been true though, just wishful thinking.

So Gabe Newell needs to escape from his miserable money bathtub reality as well? Arm chair psychology at it's finest.
Gabe Newell is super morbidly obese. His millions can't make him any happier when he has to waddle around like a tub of shit. Also, I'm pretty sure that's just a joke.

Sorry to step on your hooves toes.

I've never seen even one episode of that show. And yes, Gabe is a brony, google it.

You do realize that your own preferences don't apply to everybody in the human race, right?

Now that's the Chris I knew. I thought it would be weird for Chris to not complain about Equestria Girls.

The basement dwellers don't like MLP because of its cuteness, they like it because embracing a talking horse in a made-up fantasy world takes them completely out of their miserable realities. It's escapism at its finest.
