That's what the pampered manchildren of Gen X turned it into by being the first ones to colonize it, but let's not pretend that's what it's actually meant for. One wonders how things could've turned out for the better if not for deadbeats like Lowtax or Maddox, even if other manchildren might find that possibility "boring".

Well, apparently, once it left the hands of us entitled manchildren and allowed to fully bloom, it became Cable TV in every way except a thousand times worse, with fewer options than Cable TV, more ads than Cable TV, and subscription tiering that would have made Cable TV in the 2010s blush. One way it truly doesn't compete with Cable TV, though, is you'd need to put a camera on your TV that sends a live feed of your living room back to a security center that tracks everything you do - except even that analogy doesn't work because it'd also need to report back on everywhere you go.

It was better in every conceivable way when it was a dumping ground with thousands of petty gen x manchild despots running little fiefdoms.
 
Don't mistake my disdain for that unmourned pigsty era as endorsement for the current corporatist hellscape. That's a false dichotomy between two extremes, both of which fucking suck.
