They'll give good feedback, let them know what parts of the game they loved & hated etc. And then you get stupid armchair developer comments & requests. I go back to Disco Elysium because I'm currently playing it and enjoying it. But you see this crap in any RPG being made now. "CAN I PLAY AS A FEMALE PROTAGONIST."

For those unaware Disco Elysium is more an adventure game than any traditional CRPG. You roleplay as a male detective, a shitty inept male detective no matter what. This steam user needs to play as a female or else the devs won't get that player's $30. Even a game that's fully about open player freedom like the upcoming Baldur's Gate 3 isn't spared. Players need their asexual needs fulfilled, hell the devs need to even fulfill pronoun obligations.

I can only imagine all the stupid requests Factorio's team gets. From a business perspective it's generally not a wise move to sperg out and start angrily replying to player comments. But I can easily see how the Factorio founder reached his breaking point when redditors insisted that he throw disclaimers over his citations.

I disagree. I really appreciate it when a game allows me to play my sex in-game, as I find it more personally immersive. I don't understand the rage that incels feel towards such a simple and non-aggressive request. These "will you let me play my bio-sex" threads always dissolve into a bunch of outrageously immature commentary that bumps the thread without any further response from the OP. I also advocate for games to not only have a female character. If a man wants to play a man, he should be able to.

Having the protagonist match your sex is a "nice to have" thing. It depends on what the developer wants to do, what they're willing to do, and what's cost-efficient. But spergs online like making it a "must have!" thing and screech extremely loud about it. That's why there's often such a big backlash against those suggestions.

Funnily enough, it's usually "we need female models!". I don't see a whole lot of people demanding we be able to play Senmua, Horizon Zero Dawn or Shantae as a male.
