Factorio Thread

Krastorio mod + Space exploration. Enjoy your new life!!! Seriously get the game subside any opinions from troons. Vanilla is awesome after you master it go do some biter battles and realize you know jack shit about being autistic. MTN as well seeing the amount of optimization makes you realize you can always improve your designs. idk if you guys are gonna actually host but regardless if you look for comfy you'll see me on mtn fort.

This combination also looks very neat, I might have to do a playthrough myself.

no matter how hard anyone explains this to you you will not get it, i can guarantee it, dont even expect an answer from me again, im not gonna waste my breath on you, i highly doubt this is gonna reach you in any meaningful way, but i can only hope you read it and somewhat understand it and dont just write it off like you have been the entire day so far,

I know this is a double post, but I think it warrants it:

Would people be interested in doing a Community Succession game for Factorio, a la Dwarf Fortress? It seems like it could be a great game for that sort of play. The only thing would be how to define turn limits...
Factorio has online co-op. Succession is more suited to games where you don't otherwise have a decent way to co-operatively build stuff, like Dwarf Fortress.

It's a fucking part time job but it overly tunes out factorio to become a longplay for sure. Good fun tons to explore as well. Before tuning our groups map the map size was getting to almost be 4GB

So this is the playlist factorio linked to that made progressives attack the dev:

Only watched the beginning but it looks pretty interesting if you like programming or docummentary style programs (probably it becomes more technical later).
Oh now he's starting to talk about how dependent modern society has become dependent on programmers and once there is a program derived really major crisis how programmers will be blamed for it.

"So when the event occurs, and the politicians rise up and say 'we gotta do something about these programmers they are out of control'', and they point their fingers at us and say 'how could you have let this happen' we better have an answer for them, cause if our answer is 'yknow our boss told us we had to get it done by tuesday' if that is our answer, then the politicians of the world will hang their head in disappointment and in shame and in disgust and they will do the one thing we don't ever want them to do, they will legislate. They will regulate*. They will tell us what languages we can use what platforms we have to write on what courses we have to take what books we have to read what processes we have to follow what signatures we'll have to get and we will all become civil servants" - Bob (19:50 into the vid in case you want to hear it for yourself)

Gee I wonder what points of contention there is between the woke and Bob

*The amount of vehemence he used for the word *regulate is noticeable.

And now he's making an argument for programmers to make a set of standards and ethics for their profession to preempt the above situation.

He's linked to some sites in the youtube video as well that is pretty overtly ideological in nature. No wonder the woke went after him.

I clicked through to mutualwelfare.org . It's one of those web currentyear.0 sites with seemingly infinite scroll and 3 words on each screen. I scrolled through a dozen or so "pages" of vagueposting about how everything is outdated, until:

``Kabbalah is a Science that studies the laws of Nature, giving us the tools to heal this Connection``

then the end is a plug for some cryptocurrency.

is this the start of a mystical libertarian tradition?

He keeps giving his based opinion on everything under the rainbow in a language you're not a native speaker of on a stage policed by a foreign culture in the throes of a movement run by true believers. They're going to keep having a field day with the statutory rape thing for the next decade, why give them anything else?

Yeah I don't know what the hell that is either.

As for the factorio dev I don't think he's used to dealing with woke people so he's probably falling into common pitfalls of arguing back and giving them blood in the water.

The creation of a Code of Ethics for programmers and IT professionals is something the IEEE and ACM have addressed, but there's no law requirements like with civil engineers to make us follow it. If we were mindful of the impact of our code, Facebook wouldn't be allowed to exist. It took Therac-25 before we had something to learn in CS classes. It took a whistleblower to care about IBM's involvement in Apartheid (which was when I stared to follow the topic of ethics in CS).

And I am not one to talk: I worked on software used by predatory loan companies to calculate risk and help aid collections. It didn't bother me until it was time to look for another job. If I had cared, I never would have worked there.

If he wants us to write clean code: Cool and good. We have a dozen standards to write maintainable code and linters to keep us honest.

Funny you mention Tarkov, I plan on getting into that myself when I get a stronger PC later this year. Rock on man with that next Factorio playthrough. :winner:
Tarkov reminds me of this, actually. I remember when one of the Tarkov team said "we don't have female characters because they couldn't withstand the stress of the environment" and they got all kinds of shit for it. They just said "Well, it's for lore reasons now" and don't acknowledge the complaints. I love devs that aren't beholden to the blue checkmarks.

they could have said "there are no female characters because anita told us that rewarding players for killing women is bad" and watched people just kill themselves

Lol these fags somehow always try to act as if they are authority- tutting like a fat tranny mom.
"I am disappointed in this answer."
"Not a good look."
"Do better."
If you are anyone who does this, kill yourself.
I've noticed that trend as well. These trashcans talk to people as if they are their boss. They, from the get go, start with that "I'm better than you" tone.
