Came back to this because I remembered, why do internet commies always go "Venezuela Iphone 6 Gorillion dead" every time anyone criticizes it? Honest question, since it always reads to me as these people mocking the suffering of people in Venezuela or any other communist regime.

They take issue with the idea that it is the attempts at the ideology itself that kills people. This is basically "not real attempt at communism".

If he wants us to write clean code: Cool and good. We have a dozen standards to write maintainable code and linters to keep us honest.

This always happens when non-technical managers get the final say over everything. Occasionally, you get the "good" PM who at least learned enough to shut up and listen when the experts are talking, but by far and large these pencil pushers are a large reason why we get spaghetti code. You always get these wide-eyed fucktards who think they're finally the one to get the holy grail of fast, cheap and quality, and ends up driving the project into doing none of those.

Because common conservative talking points in America regarding communism are "Venezuela is communist and in a shit state, communism has killed millions of people, you hate capitalism yet have an iPhone" etc. Since American conservatives do harp on these points a lot, it is often an effective rebuttal, even if it's a rebuttal against strawman versions of those arguments. However, an American trying to use that line of argument against a Czech, who probably personally knows people who remember the USSR invasion of Czechoslovakia and the brutal crackdowns afterwards, is in pretty bad taste and not particularly relevant to his point about a nasty person contributing to a field. They were just buttmad that a Czech rightfully pointed out that the Communist governments in eastern Europe sucked.

In the former Eastern Bloc, anti-communism is basically a liberal ideology. You find it concentrated in the university-educated, white collar, urban and younger demographics, who generally want EU integration and immigration and globalisation. If you go out into the sticks and ask some factory-job boomers what they think about it, you'll find a lot more "things were perfectly fine back then and capitalist libtards are ruining our country" attitudes. Kovarex doesn't seem the slightest bit right-wing ; from what I can see, he's the perfect model of an eastern bloc progressive, and eastern progressives hate commies like western progressives hate cops.

But these retards are so fucking Americentric that they immediately rush to calling him a 'far-right conservative' because they can't wrap their tiny little heads around the fact that communism is the conservative opinion when you're in an ex-communist country.

Venezuela - Venezuela is commonly used as an example of a failed attempt at socialism, and commies got tired of writing rants about how it wasn't real socialism/everything the media says about Venezuela is a lie perpetuated by migrants from Venezuela who were ackshually all burgeoise in their home country and are therefore subhuman scum who deserve violent murderrape

I've really given up on the conversation, they can always fall back on "It wasn't communism because communism implies no state", the thing is, the only way you can be a "stateless country" is if you don't have sovereignty.
