Fair Access to Financial Services (OCC-2020-0042-0001)

Write your senators and representatives too. When I was in school they told me that those guys actually read letters and stuff.

I mean, I'm pretty sure they were lying to me and it won't do anything, and it was kind of a long time ago, but it'll be like an extra birthday gift.

Banks should be entirely nationalized but saying that too loud gets you shot
ah comrade, here's a few problems:

(happy birthday btw)

if KF starts a mutual support fund and we all pay in say $10 and whenever someone needs money they can borrow say $100 and pay back $104 in a year should our original $10 be nationalised?

if you own the Bank of Kiwifarms why should you be compelled to provide the same services that you provide to a Loyal Kiwifarms Friend to Mohammad bin el Isis Sultan? can't you decide what to do with your own bank?

say Trump is the president, do you want Trump to rule all banking?

say Biden is the president, do you want Biden to rule all banking?

yes, it's wrong for banks to cut you off "because so" but don't use butthurt SJW banks, bank with the ones used by crackpot dictators that don't care

here's the SWIFT code of one that imho doesn't mind too much, sort it out with them maybe: IOPRVAVXXXX

@nya001 Kill yourself.

There are four companies that matter. MasterCard, Visa, Discover, Amex in that order. They are all cucking speech. If one of them cucks speech, payment gateways have to oblige. Discover (5% of the market) actively works with the ADL and can enforce its whims on everything.

Doesn't matter who's president. We need regulation. We needed it 20 years ago. So yes, I want the Comptroller of Currency under any president to "rule all banking" because the ADL already does and the OCC can only be as bad as the ADL.

This seems too good to be true, so it'll probably die quietly in the dark. Nevertheless, I put a letter in the mail for what little it's worth. Trump should have put his idiot weight behind this instead of that 230 bullshit.
The second he publicly supports this is the second it dies. It would immediately be a major partisan issue with a hostile administration incoming.
Have to hope this slips by quietly.

sure, regulation is one thing, "nationalisation" as you said is another and you are intelligent and you know it very well. I agree banks should be regulated but not nationalised and I am sure you know that some countries have something called a citizen's account or whatever that they are forced to open.

There are many payment gateways and money is money, many don't care but ok fine, have it your way, it's your website.

You know I said it might be good to write an efforpost in the 230 topic detailing what you want out of the financial system in the hopes of eventually influencing someone somewhere ... I didn't expect the government to just give it to you as a birthday present! Happy birthday Null!
Now let's hope this passes. Hmm, what will the arguments against this be?

Every single person has to bail out the fucking banks every time they shit the bed and wreck the economy, yet again. This is why they gamble with other people's money so much. Why do they need to care? If they fuck up, even if they're outright breaking the law, and go broke, every taxpayer has to bail them the fuck out. So every taxpayer should have the right to use them, without any right by these fucks to say no or turn away anyone, outside of a very limited set of circumstances, i.e. outright money laundering, funding terrorism, and overtly criminal acts of the sort USA PATRIOT covered.

Happy birthday, Null. I sent in my comment.

One thing I think people should mention is that the $100 billion asset threshold is too high as a general rule. Every bank should be covered by this regulation, at least for basic services like retail banking. The regulation seems to largely be written with an eye toward the problem of "debanking" entire industries by denying investments to things like guns or oil refineries, so direct their attention toward the problems of small businesses and individuals too.
Your local credit union shouldn't be required to get in on financing some refinery when they know nothing about oil, but they should be required to keep your bank account open unless you actually engage in financial wrongdoing with it.

Not gonna lie; any proposed regulation makes me twitch like there's a tarantula ambling across my leg.

But Null is absolutely right that payment processors and banks have been subverted and used to stifle and strangle competition and free speech.

What a fucking mess. Maybe this is necessary to beat some sense into people. I won't like it, and it's got incredible potential for unintended consequences... but I can't fault Null for supporting it.

Happy birthday jersh. I hope this passes and will write my reps, but doubtful it will pass. the payment System is setup in a way that it isn’t the government censoring anything, but private companies. I honestly think it could be argued that they’re extensions of the government if NSL were counted. We all know that’s fucking impossible sadly
