I think this lost media crap is popular because zoomers are retards who find old shit creepy for some reason but also are gullible idiots who will believe fucking anything they see online which is why tiktok its full of scams targeting this group, specially crypto shit
1. Valle Verde (Green Valley)
I see a lot of problems with this one, first the graphics are closer to the gamecube than to the ps1, but more importantly the use of argentine-spanish language in the game. Back then most games didnt get a spanish version and the few that did got a spain-spanish version, so this is like a japanese company offering scottish english as an option, it makes no sense

Then there are many themes only an argentine would get, the creepy tango music in the background because tango=old and old=creepy because zoomers=retards. The lowres pics of gardel, again the only people outside of argentina that remember him must be in their late 80s as he died in 1935. Then of course the eternal map of the malvinas islands because nobody in that fucking country can let that shit go, not even the faggot who made this fake shit
Reminds me of the 100% true and legit gemesis game Kekcroc

I am pretty certain there were a few LMW autists legit convinced of it's existence.

Big figures in the community like the genuinely wholesome kind of sperg LSuperSonicQ dedicated videos to discussing it.

Has any of these retarded niggers even played a genesis game? that intro and tittle screen would've knocked everyone's socks off back in 1993

They could've looked into the genesis fan game scene to see the limitations of the hardware but this gay lost media shit its first and foremost incredibly fucking lazy so no surprise they cant even make a convincing 16bit game

Not only this (displaying a static low-res 3D renter would probably be possible), why would his skin be covered in those weird radiation burns? Trying to make it creepy completely breaks the immersion.

Anyway, I think That Evil Farming Game deserves a mention.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=SJ3b8x63bqcSorry for tranny chaser's video but he explains it well.
In short: someone had a fever dream about a game where you manage a farm and try to cover up a murder you committed. They go to Reddit and ask for help finding the game that doesn't exist.
Someone made a very simplistic game based on the idea:
...and there is a full-scale project to turn the fever dream into reality:
And in the end, it was just Joel from Vinesauce just talking about some made up game idea during a stream of Earth Defense Force.

Midi standard didn't even exist yet
MIDI was around in 1989. Created in 82-83 IIRC. The Roland MT-32 was released in 1987.

The shitty texture is likely some attempt to emulate the weird things used in renders around that time due to technical limitations without actually understanding how to make it look of that time at all. Then again it being such a shitpost might be intentional. Kek is in the name because this originated from someone meming it into existence on 4chan. It being so low effort could have just been to see how little you could put into it and still have people believe that it was an actual game.

Kek \ Shadilay meme would be its only claim for relevance, back in 2015 \ 2016 people loved looking for connections like this to add to the myth. Without it it's just another old game.

Polybius is a fantastic urban legend. The game that makes you a boring normie just by you accidentally selecting it in an arcade.

I fucking hate all the args attached to it though. Keep it short, keep it sweet, keep it spooky.

Another thing that bugs me about the arg shit games is that there are people actually producing new old games, and selling NES carts.
That's really cool, and they just shit all over that.
People sell actual creepy pokemon knockoff carts.

I recently watched a video on youtube about why PS1 graphics look the way they do, and it was a lot more than dithering. I find that more interesting than shitty ARG's.

I've come close to paying random non-english speakers a few bucks to read lines to fake some SEAglish dubs in order to parlay them to legit SEAglish dubs from VHS-only weirdos, so I won't hate too hard on this.

its funny that most of these "lost flash games" just end up mostly being a jpg slide show
like this one made by a furry

Really just lazily skipping to thirst-trapping a bunch of animal fuckers.

This is the world Pastra wants.

I'll try to find my best words to talk about this situation since I encountered this trend a lot in lost media. If the media you try to find doesn't have any uncanny or scary elements to it, it is not interesting for them, and not even one person would comment. Things like Saki Sanobashi or the evil farming game got a lot of attention from the YouTube channels and from the community itself due to the uncanny and scary vibe and nature. Zoomers will always bite everything that is liminal, uncanny, scary, or any other analog horror spergatory.

For posterity:

I've always liked the fake Courage game. I do think it goes a little too fast to get to the "creepy fucked up horror" part, because the house segment in the beginning is perfectly off-putting to begin with, but I think this falls on the list of media with potential.

I haven't watched commentary on it because I enjoy it as-is.

Once the phantom face invokes Windows Movie Maker font with "find them" I think it gets lame.

, it seems like everything in the past 25 years or so has been well documented and accounted for
plenty of blogs and smaller websites and forums have vanished, most of our myspace stuff is gone as is friendster. If you've ever been on Encyclopedia dramatica, you'd know that. most of the website hasn't been updated past 2011 so its almost entirely broken links, same with stuff like early podcasts or youtube accounts, especially if they stopped updating before 2017, the videos get removed for stuff now considered "offensive" you even see the same things with porn sites. James Gunn had an absurdly active blog and we all know why he deleted almost all of it, but can you tell me if anyone has an archive of all the videos he had on there? Same with the works of his Troma friend Doug Sakman, who's work would be considered offensive to modern day woke eyes.

Even stuff like google+ or Vine, most of it is fucking gone, maybe someone screenshotted or uploaded the necessary archives but overall the big websites don't give a fuck. You could easily have entire web stars of the myspace era whom no one remembers nowadays or their videos are near impossible to find. the 2000s era are a sort of lost world for this stuff that no one really talks about. The only reason i know it is trying to help a cousin's bastard kid find info about his "very online" junkie father who died in that era and discovering that if you spent all your time on sites like Metokur or Busy Street or PWOT or in the comments of Gawker or other websites you basically don't exist now. And if you uploaded your photos to such a site, again you don't exist anymore.
There's also a ton of songs that just have vanished into the ether so it makes sense.
people forget how many "local" bands put their songs up on myspace or other places back then. even before that every local band had a crappy cd they put out, back before DJs became the norm for parties and weddings. There's a reason The Wedding Singer was set a decade before it was made.
but I want to believe.
unless this was a demo with no real levels there is no way it exists, memory limits still exist and it would have eaten up everything on the cartidge just making that opening sequence.
who find old shit creepy
I agree with your entire comment except this, do you forget The Ring or all its knockoffs in japan and america in that era? That shit was creepy, the reason its bigger now is everyone and their mom had a VHS camera by the 90s and coding was still in its early enough stages that any loser could make a video game, not a good one but one that might be brought in a bargin bin for the PS1, thats arguably the big reason he "set" it on that console. That nintendo seal of quality prevented a lot of shovel ware that would end up on Sony or Sega's crap, especially in the 3rd world.

But in general it combines the fact that we had an explosion of content in the 90s but all of it would vanish soon afterwards. Mike Rowe was on one of those shopping channels for 1000s of hours basically taking the piss the entire time, then there's stuff like FX where the hosts were proto-streamers with how they interacted with the viewers the entire time, or even Red Eye which had every famous comedian of our era on it as a guest as well as porn stars, fox news anchors, drug dealers, musicians and anyone else they could trick to come on.

Another more anthropological reason for how creepy lost media is can be explained by how we look at the era, the 50s were missed in the 70s/80s because they were seen as a beloved era. same way the 1980s is now, but because of how "offensive" the 2000s and 90s are to modern especially liberal eyes even the content from that era is seen of in a grotesque way. The concept of a howard stern knock off actually being a serial killer/rapist would be something zoomers might buy into just from what they're told about the era and especially talk radio from netflix or socialist youtubers. For Fucks sake according to Netflix 90s woodstock was actually a neo-nazi rally.
I noticed it too. It's like they feel nostalgia for something they never experienced.
thats a bad way of describing it but probably. its like how parents talk about life growing up or how myths must have been passed around by the campfire. especially because the people they watch online if they're older would exaggerate how creepy shit must have been like. Plus there's the other obvious answer of it emerging from FNAF, a game set in the 1980s and only came about because the creator could only create creepy looking NPCs.

I noticed it too. It's like they feel nostalgia for something they never experienced.
They literally do. The word "anemoia" has been beaten to death as a result, as has this pseudo-N64-era 3D stuff (that I'm admittedly somewhat fond of) and anything even remotely related to the newest generation's childhoods.

The most bizarre part of all of it is that it seems to be most-heavily indulged in by people who haven't even grown up yet- outside of the 30+ tranny creeps lingering in these circles to groom (as always), the oldest people I've seen indulging in all this shit have been maybe 23, with the vast majority of people in communities like Lost Media (fake and not) being somewhere in the 11-15 range.

There's "frutiger aero nostalgia" now, despite that "aesthetic" being heavily in use as recently as 2014 (arguably, it hasn't even died yet- if you go to some nicher shady websites, there's still plenty of that cheap stuff plastered everywhere). Barely even a decade and it's already getting sucked dry for clicks and shallow "tributes". Y2K nostalgia, too, despite that period of time lasting maybe 3 or 4 years total before being unceremoniously taken over by the aforementioned sanitized slop.

It's surreal. These people are gonna grow up and become fond of times when they were teenagers, during which they were fond of times when they were children, during which they were too clueless to care about being nostalgic for their shat diapers. Their fond memories are going to be some weird demented circle where they keep going "man, I wish I was back in the good ol' days", during which they thought the exact same thing.

damn it just dawned on me that most of the late 2000s/early 2010s youtube/justin.tv livestreams must have gone down the drain. so much shit happened back then ffs.

must have gone down the drain.
Remember Stickam? It was like Twitch/Justin but viewers could also have their camera on (audio off) and the rest of the viewers would be able to see them too. so because of that feature it was almost like tinychat but way back in 2006. the quality was terrible, lucky to get 240p but we didn't care because it was that cool. lots of writing on white boards back then.
