Fallout 76 was released by Bethesda Game Studios on November 14th 2018 as a multiplayer game where friends can play and being able to interact with others using Fallout 4's engine. The game began as a buggy mess due to being rushed for holiday sales and continues to have several issues today.
The pros of this game include base building, Grinding and doing raids with some new content being added every few months with new seasonal scoreboards to rank in-game reward in. Thing is though, Everything can get repetitive after you finish grinding and a lot of the Atomic Shop items are overpriced.
The game has seen some gradual improvements like Wastelanders and Brotherhood over the years, Including a new region finally added to the south of the map. Game thread

The bag
Fallout 76 having an already rocky start also had the duffel bag issue regarding the Power Armor Edition where the bag came in plastic instead of canvas. This caused many players to complain to Bethesda about the low quality bags they've received and Bethesda responds claiming lack of resources.
A collectors reviewer below in a video inspects the quality of the bag and compares it to other collectors bags he's received.

Gay Eliminators
On November 16th 2018, A guy named Andrew Pulido, Otherwise known as AJpls complained to Bethesda about griefing where a group of "gay eliminators" came and made fun of him. (videos are in linked post)
This resulted in the players involved being permanently banned from the game later in November. A

Community
An example of gameplay in these videos, Griefing.

The community itself has many casual players, Real money trading, Data mining, Clans and griefing but what I want to focus on here are the strange characters involved in the community itself and drama surrounding the game. Images to let you know what you'd expect in the community here.

(In his 30s I believe) Sinseer's arch nemesis, I would be wary of this one though. He's also reportedly from Canada and likes to send images of his dick to random people. Norespawns called him out on Twitter for it too. He was also one of the people who originally got into the dev room after the game came out.
Had quite a bit of a following years ago and used his influence to prey on children. He was outed in 2021 for being a pedophile (As described in the video below) after he tried to coerce a 13 year old girl over Discord to perform sex acts in her school bathroom stall. This whole thing blew like a political scandal and he deleted everything.
After the girl threatened to go to the police, Steve begged her not to and how he wouldn't survive going to prison if she went out, It was believed he went to jail after this but he's apparently still around shitting up random Discord servers and sites from what I heard. Below are screenshots copied over from when I pasted them in the game thread.

Has the game actually gotten good since its launch? Given the reputation it had originally, I don't see how it could have a huge community still unless some big improvements have been made.

I picked it up because a coworker of mine swore they massively improved on it since its initial launch. I gave it a chance, got to level fifty by running around the countryside killing and looting shit.

But then I played the actual main quest and I got to a mission where I had to stand in line at the DMV which was staffed by Mr. Handys. It boiled down to "Stand in this line, sign this form, go get junk mail, go stand in another line, etc." I shut the game off after that quest and never played it again because it was the most meta fucking thing ever. Even with all the improvements they made, it still feels like someone made a DMV simulator and slapped a bunch of Fallout assets on it at the last moment.

Edit: As far as the community goes, I was easily the lowest level character on any server I joined. The characters I played with were at least level 100 with some going as high as 500. The people who still play it are dedicated.

Does anyone have an original video of the gay eliminators? All I see are faggots commentating on it.

There's a lot more content but most of it is generic live service slop like season passes and raid bosses.

What's worth mentioning is the sheer amount of troon content added to the game. Even disregarding the player icons and placeable pride flags. There are two Non-Binary characters that were added in post launch in various content updates and must be interacted with as part of the main quest lines.

Burke a Non-Binary Raider who's pronouns are respected by all of his gang members who mount heads on poles and keep mutilated corpses around their camps

Orlando a Non-Binary Enclave officer of some sort who's pronouns are respected by people who have never even met her, including a character that is shown to be a pompous asshole.

Why is there so much troon content, including a made-up Tumblr identity created in the 2010s being added to a game that takes place in the cultural period of the 1950s?

Well... Meet "Ellys" Tan. The Non-Binary Senior Quest Designer of Fallout 76

I opened this thread thinking "I hope it mentions Sinseer, he and SH Games are both massive faggots." Lo and behold!

Some of the subreddit's most commonly held opinions are also worth mentioning. You could trace a linear path back in time, watching them get every single decent item or build (most notably explosive energy weapons) nerfed. Then they complain when every enemy feels like a damage sponge.

I was one of the dumbasses who actually pre-ordered the game. Played it for a week tops and then gave up.

Came back for a bit around mid-late 2020 and 2021. During that time it was actually not that bad, it wasn't a good Fallout game, there hasn't been a good fallout game since the 90s, and it was the only open world survival slop mmo (like Ark Survival Evolved/Conan Exiles) I ever played and actually enjoyed. Compared to its launch state too it was a whole new game, I think the only major bug I ran into were like two graphical errors and some weird latency stuff. I also felt a little bit of endearment to it entirely because it had some actually pretty fair monetization. You could get the premium currency, atoms, by dicking around and doing just about anything. There was a battlepass system too that was 99% free with like maybe 10 total skins for Fallout 1st paypiggies, but that's 10 skins out of a reward track of about 100 or so free things. I lost interest at a point, it wasn't even the game itself I just got into my first proper TTRPG group around that time.

I came back a few weeks ago just to see the newer content, I heard about them returning to the Pitt and I was excited, I downloaded, logged in, was curious where the reward track/free battlepass went, turns out they replaced it with a fortnite style slop battlepass where you have to pay. I uninstalled right after that and I don't think anything could get me to give it another shot. Completely killed the biggest source of good will I had for the game.

there hasn't been a good fallout game since the 90s,

I fully 1000% agree here, once Bethesda got the IP it was game over sadly we had glimpses of what a modern Fallout could be with New Vegas but even that was hobbled (enjoyable but not a successor) - Bethesday are just not good at anything but babys first RPG anything with neuance an it's own style get's massively miss handled.

Beth can't understand that Fallout is supposed to be what the 50's thought a post Nuclear world would look like, not be the 50's forever more.

I've had a lot of down time recently and got given a x-box to stop me from going bonkers that I've played on for maybe 4 hours total and I tried 76 because it was free on Gamepass and I have to say it was better than I was expecting but it was still bad in the 2 hours I played it the quests where dull and kinda repetitive, I've no desire to play any more an this is coming from someone with Thousands of hours in the Original 2 fallout games, who used to play every story an quest mod under the sun, even dabbled in making my own mods for them (mostly QOL mods / item additions etc, I wasn't very good at it but I enjoyed doing it because I liked the game).

I remember when "Fallout Community" was just No Mutants Allowed forum where autistic, but endeering people were posting about Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics.
The pipeline of good things turning into normies parade of banality never fails.

NMA was great, I still look in some times an they are still going strong.

Yeah, that's still THE source of mods for Fallout 1 and 2, the slavs are very into them, some russian mad lad already made 2 games in the engine, as large as the originals- "Fallout: Nevada" and "Fallout: Sonora".
