Fallout 76 General Thread - Bethesda does it again!

I've been thinking, maybe Todd Howard is actually trying to get fired. Maybe he sees the writing on the wall and he wants to start his own studio, or retire early, but he's contractually obligated by Zenimax Media to stay. So he's going out of his way to make the most offensively monetized, buggy, lackluster game he can. Because as it's been mentioned before, there are buggy games, there are bad games, and there are greedy games but in all my +30 years of playing games I've never seen one so consciously and deliberately all these things!

Todd Howard ain’t no Kojima.

How does this continued fuck up even keep happening? At what point do you either put more people on to fix it or just say fuck it and quit? This is making new lows for the term Bethesda quality.

At this point, I actually think they're purposefully fucking it up to use Fallout 76 as a tax write-off. There's no way you can be this fucking stupid. There have been so many fuck ups, failures and outright disastrous merch associated with this. I mean, if they haven't noticed, I'd check every exec at Bethesda for early onset Alzhemiers. I'd rather spend that $100 on a mobile Gacha game with nice anime tiddies for a waifu than a single cent on Fallout 76. At least I'm getting what I want.

If Bethesda made something like that, I'd download it, it'd send my credit card information to every user, crash constantly, and then be so prone to bugs and exploits that it gets ransomware and I have to pay to unlock my phone to just use it.

They seriously cannot be this fucking stupid. Even Blizzard with its massive fuck-ups knows and ended all Q&A at Blizzcon. They have to know. Its either a tax write-off or to make Elder Scrolls 6 look like the best game in the world by comparison. You have to PURPOSEFULLY fuck up this badly.

The worst part of all of this is that TES6 will be an even further watered-down Skyrim with the same buggy engine, shitty animations, and be even less of an RPG than Fallout 4, and people will once again parade it as the greatest game to be released in the last 20 years. Soy faces will abound and Bethesda will continue to be barely competent and make tons of money doing it.

I'm starting to believe the growing speculation that Bethesda's god-awful business strategy is a setup for an IPO. EA and Ubisoft are both public companies and Bethesda is increasingly fanatic about mimicking their investor-recognised business model and handling of IP.

Is the game any better than it was a year ago? i got a rare item drop the first week it came out but decided to wait a year to replay it. the first 24 hours of the game I never seen so many people leave.

Absolutely not.

On that note, what is it with people who sat on the fence over this trash fire going out of their way a year in to tell others "It's a LOT more playable than before!" when that wasn't the point?

Think it is just desperation. Not sure what the number of players are now, but even at the peak it had to only be a fraction of what they wanted/needed. Since day one they've been trying to squeeze blood from a stone and they're not going to stop trying even though they probably should. 2019 was going to be a slow year for Bethesda so this was going to be their "live service" game to supplement only putting out, what 3 games this year? They keep throwing out cash grab solutions without thinking things through when the problems with 76 run so deep it needs a major overhall.

I take it Bethesda are just throwing continuity out the window at this point
The ranger outfit is just riot armor, as far as I know, and it existed before the Great War. Why riot armor with a duster is in West Virginia is anyone's guess, but this one isn't terrible. In fact, from the screenshot, it looks like they actually replaced the LAPD tag with CPD, probably Charleston Police Department.

Their """justification""" for Hellfire armor being a skin in the battle royale mode is the real dumb shit. How many prototypes of Enclave power armor are there at this point?

Been a while since I played FO3/NV, but wasn't it stated that Hellfire Power Armor was such a recent addition to the wasteland that other projects (like the eyebot armor overhaul) were put on ice just to get enough resources out for that one siege defending against Liberty Prime?

I'm guessing the $100 subscription was a sad attempt by Bethesda to fight back against the hype about the outer Worlds? They forgot their core product isn't worth it and now the improved service with extra NPCs had been scrapped.

The biggest head scracher about this whole thing is all they have to is give people the option to host their own server, with their own hardware, and allow third party mod support. And I know why they don't do this, it's because they want that sweet sweet MTX money. But, the paypigs will be there no matter what. Don't you want to expand the potential pay pig pool? They'd probably sell a million copies if they had truly private servers. And even at $20, that's twenty more million dollars than they had before. And if only %5 of the people ever log onto the Bugthesda servers, that's 50,000 potential pay pigs!

Bethesda? Mods? Don’t be ridiculous!

Yep. But a prototype was developed in 2080 and sent to the Battle Royale vault, which is apparently canon. Thanks Bethesda.
