Jesus, so Todd took nothing from this other than do more shell games with the betas of his game...

lol, definitely not buying ESVI or any of their works again, and I say this as a dude who played that series since Daggerfall. Go broke you greedy and lazy shits.

I expect Fallout 76 players to be very pleased to know Bethesda purposely served a shit sandwich with the knowledge they could just sprinkle some fixes on later down the line.

Really makes you think about why they'd make it exclusive to their own storefront which doesn't have a refund policy, despite selling other games released both before and after Fallout 76 on other platforms like Steam.

"It's not how you launch, it's what it becomes" really chaps my ass. That' been a huge problem for games as far back as 2013 from what I can remember, and developers still think this "release now, fix later" approach is going to keep fans around. Guess I'll stick to Fallout New Vegas with mods forever. I hated Fallout 4 and when Bethesda finally revealed what Fallout 76 was going to be, I immediately lost interest since these "online only" games will become a coffee coaster whenever they turn off the servers or the playerbase dies off.

One one hand, I understand that it's Todd Howard's job to go out there and put a spin on anything and everything the company is doing. I don't suspect he'll ever go out there and literally say "we released some rushed, cash grab garbage to make the investors happy" because it would be career suicide.

However, "it's not now you launch, it's what it becomes" is a crazy thing to say during an interview. Most games that have a bad launch simply die out - and the very few that claw out from a bad launch are forever stuck to live in the shadow of "what could have been". To even get to that point it usually takes an overwhelming level of dedication from the company to make a huge commitment to try and salvage what they've released.

The handful of games that I can think of that did this in any regard (Destiny, Destiny 2, FFXIV) all spent years regaining player trust through dedication. It was a super massive (and costly) investment of time on behalf of the developers and the window for that, for Bethesda, has frankly closed.

One of the major things FFXIV did when Square realized it was awful was stopped taking money for it from players to acknowledge they had made a mistake. They rolled out a roadmap and then (in secret) did twice as much work as they promised. The cash shop was the only thing in FO76 that worked right and the fact it still exists says all you'll need to know about the future of that game.

It's one thing to have a bad launch of a rushed, shitty, broken game that could at least be fixed.

This is on a whole other level of magnitude. The game has achieved legend status as absolutely terrible, and as not just a shitty cash grab, but almost open thievery. Fallout 76 is now synonymous with utter failure. You have to go back years to find a catastrophe like this, and probably it would be something like DNF.

This is even worse than that. At least DNF wasn't deliberately a shitty cash grab and could hardly be accused of being rushed.

And for every game that did manage to turn things around, there are a dozen Lawbreakers, Radical Heights, Evolve or The Culling. Given how quickly the gaming world moves on, people aren't going to hang around for months in the hope it might get better.

look at no man sky. remember the shitstorm of that game? atleast it ended on a good note after years of fixes and added content too it (i think they even planing on making a sequal). fallout 76 will never have that kind of redemption arc. it will be remembered as one of the shitest cash grabs too date and will be a black stain on Bethesdas record for all time.

Todd made a boo-boo at 6:20. He's talking about Skyrim and the millions of people who play it now even thought they have no "touch point" with them (which I assume is Marketing wankateer speak for people they can't juice for MTX) and then he says "we shipped the game, we do some mod stuff".

Mod stuff? You mean your Creation Club exclusives?!? I thought they were Mini-DLC's!

Oh Todd, you're gonna get a spankin' from Poppa Pete!

And what's with the jackets he wears? He was wearing the same style of jacket at last years E3. He should be wearing the bright blue F76 leather jacket.

I had actually forgotten about the shitty trash bags Bethesda tried to force on people. Well Bethesda said they would get canvas bags out in 4-6 months and we're reaching that point officially next week. Tick tock fellas, where them bags at?

So this autist is putting out a video a week before the earliest date where Bethesda is even in default?

Fuck this slanty-eyed chink.

I mean we all know they're going to default and fail to deliver because that's what they do but fuck this attention whore.

What I can't believe is that no one has gotten a bag yet. Didn't someone find those bags on a chinese site for like 5 bucks? How hard is it to bulk order those and slap a Fallout logo on? They need to just eat that cost and at least try to rebuild some of that good will. They'd make it back with that TESVI money anyway

It's really quite the accomplishment to fuck up worse than both Ark Survival Evolved and Conan Exiles.

If FO76 was just like Ark or Conan they could have probably had a far more successful game. Allowing private servers, offline single player GM mode, LAN games and other options for server values and rules would have give the player control over how they wanted to play the game. But because they got greedy and wanted to steer everyone towards the cash shop that's when it all imploded.

This is how little Bethesda cares. They still have worshippers.

I suspect every single principal of the Bethesda corporation is currently on some amazing drug orgy and doing up lines and mountains of coke that would make Tony Montana tell them to chill out and not get high on their own supply, because how the fuck could anyone think what they're doing is even sane?

It's not even a complex design either. It's like a DIY bowling ball bag you could probably make out of old shirts.

I really wish Youtube’s algorithm would stop recommending me 30-minute rant videos about this game even though I’ve never played it. Like ffs there’s SO MANY of them! The outrage farmers of the gaming world really did milk that cow. I’ve never watched a single one and probably never will cause Youtube will think I want to watch more outrage shit and will keep recommending that shit to me for at least a year.

there is an option on reccomended/home page to remove it. there are three dots when you mouse over, like so. it opens a drop down menu as shown.
