Fallout Equestria, by Kkat / Kkatman - fascist sex horses and the insane fanfic writers powering their existance

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I bet the edgelord who wrote this fic only played 3, since that one installment brought a lot of edgelords into the Fallout fanbase with its unrelenting grimdark grimdarkness.
From what I've gathered, it think it is based on Fallout 3. The fic does feature Tenpenny Tower and the GN Radio, so yeah. I recommend you check out the mock of the fanfic or the podcast, because it needs to be seen to be believed.

So bad

This story has absolutely no idea what kind of tone it's going for. Any sort of edgy grittiness is instantly removed by pastel colored horses fucking each other and yammering about friendship. When Fallout 3 gets dark or heavy, it almost never has anything to do with the main story line, or really, anything important at all.

There's the tragedy of losing your Dad, shown is meant both as a means of making the player feel a real loss and as a motivator to complete your father's work. This is the single "darkest" element in the story.

The principle antagonists of this fic are a slaver who is more diabolical and conniving than any Fallout slaver has ever been (even Ashur, who was basically a professional slaver) and the MLP-ified version of The Master (who is probably the edgiest villain in Fallout, which is probably why the author imported him from the first game instead of keeping The Enclave as the sole opposing force in completing the main objective). Oh, and The Enclave is still bad. There are so many antagonists that exist solely to ruin the life of our hero, not actually hinder their progress.

Sloppy indeed.

Apparently, the version that we are reading is a heavily processed, workshopped version. Several years ago, I was shown the original story and it was (somehow) worse.

Oh hey, this is one with fanfic of the fanfic written by Scott "Roy Calbeck" Malcomson. This guy could be a lolcow in his own right. He ran for governor of Arizona. Is a furry with an inflation fetish.

Fallout Equestria: New Pegas.

Last I heard he tried to gather support to sue the Hugo Awards for their Asterisk Award thing.

FOE is a terrifying world.

An MLP version of The Master? Don't know if The Master would be called the edgiest villain but an MLP-ified version would no doubt be edgy, especially if the author missed the entire point of the character of The Master. As for the antagonist just existing to ruin the life of the hero, that's just some stellar writing right there, no need to let them have other motivations like making some super mutant army or purifying the world of mutants. Then again, the author would no doubt, as some said, just took bits of Fallout 3 so of course originality isn't really going to be an option for the guy. Instead it's just taking things from the games and turning them into facist sex horses.

Well, if the podcast is correct,
it's twilight sparkle

A story of involving an MLP Master should probably be about The Master turning people into ponies to build his army and has to be stopped by the Vault Dweller. Or more likely shouldn't exist at all.

Ah yes, this fan fiction. There has been some edgy MLP-related shit, but this really takes the cake. While I can appreciate all of the world building, I don't appreciate how it's SUPER ZOMG GRIMDARK and everything is edge. Plus, it's so derivative on both fronts of a Fallout story and an MLP story. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Fallout have a humorous tone to it? I'm pretty sure this doesn't. I may want to read it to see what all of the fuss is about, but I assume it would be a waste of brain cells.

You know, disregarding the fact that a crossover between Fallout and My Little Pony is an inherently stupid idea there was the potential for something there, that could at least have been funny, juxtaposing a kids cartoon and a grim but still darkly humourous postapocalyptic series of video games. But they even missed out on that chance by playing it completely straight and expecting to reader to take the drama at face value. I mean, we're actually supposed to care about the drug addiction of a cutesy little pony. I mean, how freaking tone deaf can you be?

It is.

One of the most cringe worthy moments of this series is when DJ P0N3 is talking over the radio about orgasms. This is a thing that happens in the main story.

The fandom around this fanfiction is even worse. A lot of mary sue spinoffs, and while the original story creatively (though incredibly autisticlly) adapted the story of fallout, these spinoffs are not only cringe worthy, but commonly very uncreative, unaware of the fallout canon, and typically My Immortals level of shit.

I come across this damn thing all the time when I occasionally go looking for some decent Fallout fan-art... so many Enclave ponies :heart-empty:.

Come on dude, there was never any merit in this idea. A spawn of pure sperg and a ridiculous idea from top-to-bottom.

All fanfiction is autistic. But when you cross over two franchises, the autism isn't just additive, but multiplicative. This is why crossovers are vastly more autistic than anything featuring only one autistic headcanon.

There's nothing wrong with a ridiculous idea as long as you play it for humor. There could have been a funny story in there. Not one with any intellectual or artistic merit, mind you, but at least a somewhat amusing one. You know, if the author actually acknowledged the complete absurdity of that premise and didn't try to turn it into an epic longer than Gravities Rainbow.
