Who was your favorite character to murder in NV?
I was going to ask "favorite non essential character", but...

Thinking of starting my 74838924th play through of NV and figured I would go bad mofo status and kill everyone while specializing in melee
And medicine so I can botch Ceaser's surgery
And I guess go independent so I can watch General Oliver's body ragdoll down the dam

There are only a handful of characters in NV that are marked as non-essential.

The only ones I'm aware of are Yes Man and children. The rest to my knowledge are non-essential and are killable.

Chris Avellone also confirmed prior to New Vegas's release that he got a playtester to complete the game without killing anyone

so I might just be retarded, and that very well may be the case, but do you mean there's only a handful of essential characters? I hope I haven't been in a tranquility pod and thinking that I've been playing NV all these years and killing off non essentials left and right...

I've gone the pacifist route a few times but I've killed off aggressive NPCs, no questions asked. It would be interesting to complete the game without killing anyone.

I've only played 2 briefly, but is it true you can cap kids in game? I vaugly remember a perk called "kid killer" on the wiki. Hope I didn't just make that up. That would be weird.

Sorry yeah I mean essential.

It is possible to kill basically every character in the game and still complete it because Yes Man is marked as essential.

yes

In Fallout 1 and 2 it's possible to murder children. It's also possible to accidentally kill a child if they're hit by your crossfire.

The player gets a perk called "Child-killer" if they murder a few. Child-killer causes the player to then be hunted by Bounty Hunters for doing so.

This was a controversial element of the first two games. So much so that Fallout 1 and 2 were actually censored in some countries. Mostly Germany because of that. The German version of both games actually removed the child characters out entirely (which broke several quests). Tim Cain mentioned the reason they wanted the children to be killable was because it gave the world of Fallout this sense of authenticity other games at the time didn't have. (and even games today don't have).

Salt-Upon-Wounds. But seriously I never really found a character that I felt the need to kill every time. I prefer shooting at creatures instead, the giant fire ants being my favorite enemy.

I remembered hearing that there were children in Fallout but when I got the game from GOG I never encountered any. I guess they have a childless version for sale then.

Best if all, they didn't actually remove them, just their sprites, so you can still get pickpocketed by the invisible rugrats, occasionally see lines of their speech floating in the air and I suppose if you are unlucky enough, you can still accidentally kill them with a stray burst.

It'll probably come out and it'll be so amazing that you'll weep tears of joy at the amazing storyline with balanced characters and compelling gameplay that leaves you satisfied and entertained.
If it doesn't I guess I can just wait for Elder Scrolls VI.
I guess

What city do you guys think Fallout 4 is going to be in? My money is either on Boston or Los Angeles

I'd like to see it in Canada where the raiders say "Sorry" while they shoot at you.

Florida would be pretty cool, too. We already got people jacking off on the roof of speeding vehicles and chewing people's faces off pre-apocalypse. Imagine how insane it would be in the wasteland.

I assume it will be on the West Coast again. Although I wouldn't mind it being set in Boston, that could be pretty cool. I wonder if they do set it somewhere new, will they keep all the same factions like the Brotherhood and Super Mutants or explore new ones like the Commonwealth?

Well if it's done by Obsidian or a large portion of Obsidian's teams works on it it might be West Coast.
They haven't done much on the more Southern lands or in the East.
